Friends,

Of late I have noticed a disturbing trend in Dragon Age games. I'm sure by now we've all enjoyed the pleasure of the company of the daft Sera, and we are well aware of how Solas' companionship turned out. Lest we forget, elven companions of the past have also had somewhat disturbing personalities. There was Zevran, the crazy Antivan assassin ****, Fenris, the tall dark brooding heart-rending homicidal maniac, and Merril, the sweetest little blood mage under demonic influence we ever met.

All clearly crazy!



Surely there are some nice elves we can have as companions. This is a petition to halt the madness.

Bioware, for gods sake stop it!

Out of all those, I'd say Sera is the only one close to "crazy". The others were all pretty good characters, in my opinion.

 

Zevran wasn't crazy.

Fenris wasn't crazy.

Merrill wasn't crazy.

 

Your credibility just went out the window.

 

Also, my dear, you forgot Solas.

I think you may be confusing other traits for crazy. That said everyone is crazy we all just vary in how much, a little nugget of wisdom given to me by the drunk man who bought me icecream last summer.

Merril is just stupid, not crazy. 

 

My elf mage inquisitor would have sent a spirit blade through her stomach.

 

Luckily for Merril, Hawke was at least nice about it.

As for the rest of them? Worth it.

I only ever played all the way through Awakening once, and I don't remember Velanna very well, but stop Zevran? Stop Fenris, who wasn't even one of my favorites? Stop Merrill?   Sorry, man. If those are examples of crazy then I don't want to stop it. I want more. 

 

And Sera is not crazy, she's just misunderstood. Like... literally. I only get half of what she says, half the time.

Sera talks gibberish a lot and even admit she probably doesn't make sense, still love her though. She's zaney and that is not a bad thing. Roof time with her is the best

Fenris was pretty messed up, that's true. And he was forced to kill his friends, Fog Warriors, when his master demanded it, and there have probably been other events like that, including sexual abuse, total memory loss, lyrium branded into his body, and just general ripping-people's-hearts-out. 

 

Merrill might be adorable, but she's a blood mage who had relations and pacts with a demon, which is, well, crazy for 99% people in southern Thedas, including her own clan.

 

Zevran killed multiple people, slept with multple people and then killed them, then slept with multiple people to get close to other people and then to kill them, and, well, it's still his modus operandi. I'd say it's absolutely and completely messed up. At least Leliana can find redemption. Zevran cheerfully goes around his business to find more people, sleep with them and then, well, kill them.

 

Sera is crazy. And proud of it.

 

Velanna was very crazy. She might've calmed down a little, but when she meet her? Oh yes.

 

Solas... well, actually, yes, he is as close to normal as is possible for an ancient elven god, but you know what? Being an ancient elven god is not normal.

 

 

 

Good news is, there're pretty few well-adjusted non-elven characters around, anyway. There's Cassandra, there's Josephine, Aveline - and I'm already struggling to add someone else who is not Scout Harding. So, elf or no, nearly everyone is messed up, and cheers to that.

I don't see how it only goes for elven companions we have plenty mentally unbalanced companions in fact most of them in dao-da2 save for perhaps wynne and alistair and aveline pretty much every companion was nuts.

That dude is crazy what with picking on dragons just to fight them; telling a druffalo to "come at me, bro"; walking around with a fake moustache; jumping off the ramparts of Skyhold shouting "I can flllyyyyyyyy"; trying to land on Solas from the top of the rookery; enjoys starting conversations then leaving before the other person can reply, rinse and repeat. He also believes the snoufleurs are conspiring against him.
