The only elf who's been crazy so far is Sera, but she's crazy in an endearing, Malkavian kind of way.

Zevran flirts, Velanna seethes, Fenris broods, Merrill ingenues, Solas philosophises and Sera frenzies.

 

Out of all of them, Sera is the only one who's character can be summed up as being a tad off her rocker.

Merrill isn't crazy. She's just naive, untill her actions provoke the Keeper's death. Then you consider her stupid, but still cute. Sera is just stupid from the beginning to the end, but still cute.

Friends,

The support I see for these crazy elven characters is of the most misplaced and misguided sense of empathy, sympathy, and understanding. Sera will toss a knife at your chest and beat you to a bloody senseless pulp, all for just having too much glorious money. Valenna murdered a bunch of people all because of her silly missing sister! Regardless of their individual circumstance, these elves have gone too far, and are in fact quite crazy. If we cannot agree to something as simple as this basic truth, then I feel that as a community, as a society, that we are on the very brink of moral collapse.

I beseech you, look past your biases, see clearly, and join with me, and if we together cannot convince Bioware to stop creating these ridiculous characters, to at least help me convince them allow us to show these characters a firm hand and administer a strong lecture, or a brisk in-game spanking.

Anders is bipolar terrorist who attempted to free his fellow mages by forcing the templars to kill them all. 

Isabela will run off with the Tome of Koslun and allow all of Kirkwall to burn if you don't have high approval with her

Sebastian threatens to destroy an entire city for the actions of one man

Iron Bull is practically aroused from the very act of killing

 

Insanity is by no way exclusive to the elven race.

Nothing to add except that I totally read this as "Crazy Eyes" on my first quick glance.  Thought it was an OITNB thread.

Culture shock about human society, but since Marethari chose to free Audacity in the name of protecting Merrill, then tried to kill her as an abomination, I would blame the Keeper for her own actions.

I don't consider Merrill 'stupid' because of the actions of entirely different people.

Fenris isn't crazy, he's your stereotypical "Angry revenge guy with a big sword." If he was a human he'd be even more of a boring cliche, as an elf, it's somewhat unique, but not crazy. 

 

Zevran is your ultimate classical suave smooth-talking assassin.  He murders people for a living, but so does everyone in the series. Not crazy.

 

Merril is a naive bloodmage, like, pretty much every mage we've met that practices blood magic. And?
