Ah my head it's hurt all this nonsense to find a solution into a paradox,plot hole, bad writing or whatever.

Solution:::::::  choose the templars sidequest.

Personally I think they were going to go with a clone Fiona, but decided to use the excuse of magic and time travel when they couldn't sufficiently bullshit a story for it.

Maybe I missed a detail somewhere, but I really don't understand that whole thing with meeting Fiona in Val Royeaux. Could someone explain it to me? We met her first at Val Royeaux, then later at Redcliffe. Buuuuut it wasn't really her because she was at Redcliffe the whole time... right? So was it a time travel thing? If so, who sent her to meet us, and how? Or did she use time magic herself so she could contact us? I thought only Alexius could mess with time. I really don't understand what happened...  :blink:

Time travel.

Fiona went to Val Royeaux to meet you out of her own volition at some point in time before Alexius decided to use time travel magic. Once he did, however, and saved the mages, Fiona pledged them all to the service of Tevinter and there was no reason to seek the Inquisitor's help anymore. It's quite likely that everyone you meet in Redcliffe is actually from the alternate timeline where Alexius saved the mages.

The answer is obvious: "Fiona" in Val Royeaux was Andraste.

In France, we roleplayers have a way to explain this : TGCM. Ta Gueule C'est Magique. I think the most correct traduction is : Shut Up it's Magic. It turns handy when you can't explain every plot hole ;)

What ? It's not an answer ? Alright, I have a better one for you : it was Dorian, who wanted to warn you of the time travel ****. And because you won't trust an unknow Tevinter mage, he cast an illusion spell to take the shape of Fiona. Or he just cast an illusion spell. Well, it's basically the same thing, and it conduct to the same result...

We have one as well. "A wizard did it" I believe.
Literally the same thing.

Given that she doesn't remember being there, but confesses to feeling strange when you mention it, I assumed Alexius was using blood magic mind control on her to ensure her compliance and make sure the rebel mages joined Tevinter.
