The Greater Mistral Dragon (level 17) in the Emerald Graves always drops it. I believe that is the only place you can get the helmet as loot.

The schematic is a random tier 2 drop. It can show up as loot in any tier 2 chest. I've yet to see it, but people have posted they've gotten in tier 2 chests or boxes in various locations.

Thanks!  I guess it's time for me to go back there and take it on.

Why does that armor have weird rawhide flaps sticking out of it that none of my mat choices change the color of?

No matter what colors you pick, you have the rawhide flaps sticking out at you, like a wagging ugly leather tongue going "Nyeah nyeah!  Thought you could customize your look?  bwahahahahahaha"

(That's a direct quote.)

It is a shame that the leather used in crafting doesn't alter the color of the leather on the armor, but overall I think that armor design looks good. It looks better than any of the heavy armor designs of DA:O, which were far too bulky and oversized. DA:O suffered from the common fantasy RPG flaw of characters having pauldrons bigger than their heads.

I think the leather parts need to be a darker.  The light tan on armor, boots and especially on your skyhold outfit is absolutely atrocious to look at.

I think it'd be nice if we at least had a dye option - I have so so so many tier 1 materials that have acceptable coloring but bad numbers, and it'd be great to find a use for them. Overall, I didn't find too many of the outfits offensively unfashionable. I do agree that for some of them, it might've been nice to not see bits of armor over the bland pajama outfit :P

The major thing I noticed (and it's pretty minor) was that a fair amount of the schematics looked really similar across classes. My mage Trevalyan wore something that seemed like a tad bit too much armor, but I just shrugged and went with it. Then I saw the same outfit (more or less) on my warrior Adaar, and I kind of laughed and rolled my eyes, thinking my mage was either overly dressed for battle, or my warrior was maybe a little too overconfident in his ability to avoid hits. Tis a minor thing though ^.^

And really? You're using plaidweave as an example of ugly armor? Its SUPPOSED to look ugly, they need atleast one ridiculous material for those who want to look ridiculous. I dressed Vivienne up in Plaidweave... It was grand.

I mostly agree, but I'm not sure we really needed 47 variations of "mud brown" in the leather.  Yes, it's leather, I get it.  It's also leather from an imaginary creature that does not exist.

I like a lot of the cloth choices, the servers are down so I can't get the names... there's the silvery one with the traced-lines pattern.  I made a Battlemage coat for Dorian using a green velvet exterior and the bright gold interior it definitely fits him, especially when Blackwall starts berating him for being a pampered brat xD

Not a fan of the PJ's or hair, but do like the armors and crafting items and components. Just today I was admiring the textures and appearance of Stroud when meeting him for the first time; admirable work.

Please do fix the ugly.

Give us more hair styles that aren't buzz-cuts; allow us to craft armor with equal stats but differing ascetics; give us -real- formalwear for the Halamshiral ball; and allow us to wear regal robes in place of the pajamas, at Skyhold.

In the next game if armor customization is carried over, I think it might be interesting if they introduced some form of personal heraldry customization. Similar to how you are able to customize your keep with various heraldric designs, it would be cool if you could do the same with your armor. During much of the Medieval period nobles & knights often did wear personal heraldric symbols into battle over their armor & shields, or those of their lord, or of the military order they belonged to. A few examples:

Almost forgot: I have not tried this yet, as the servers are down, but there is a mod that can make those leather flaps I mentioned darker.  There's also a black variant:

http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/159/?

There are some alterations to the pajamas as well.  One is only suitable if you're a female Inq (and going to a Goth club).  The others are only minor changes for the most part; color schemes, no mesh replacements.  But still, it's something so far.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I just tried to use the mod tools and it's just crashing on me..  grr.

The choices made were to accommodate the limitations of the consoles.

This game, made on a PC, to be utilized on a console, to be "Ported" back to a  PC.  .

If you want to see a vision based on PC tech, 'google STAR CITIZEN".

*Facepalm*

Unless they made the game to run on the N64 these complaints have zero issues to do with consoles. None. Nada. Zilch.

We get it, you PC people aren't happy but when you knee jerk blame every single little thing wrong on "der consoles duhhh" then you diminish valid criticisms because frankly some of the rabid pc peeps come off as deranged conspiracy theorists.

I agree the enviroments are beatiful as are the characters within the game. However as much as there is beauty in this game there is just as much ugly.

..........

Exactly my thoughts, though I won't ever manage to express them so subtly

Didn't want to quote the whole post cause it's a bit large, but I agree with every word.

Be Still my heart -you SEE the problems!

Correct, we see what frostbite can do with realistic detail, rain falling on flowers, other flora and fauna for example, and are left thinking what happened with the characters?  An incomplete RPG module does not explain that away.  This is my point on program management, the scope of work that is missing or problemattic continues grow -they were easily 6 months behind schedule.

They could have used 20 or 30 percent of the resources and time used for environments and invested in proper design for the Inquisitor and other characters instead. The areas didn't have to be THAT big to still have the same impact.

It is a matter of concern to see how Bioware misplaced their focus with this game. Character customization and proper armor and weapon designs should be one of the most important aspects of any RPG! Unless I am missing something?

I like the idea of dyes. It worked out great in Diablo 3 (I know, poor comparison, but their dyes made armor crafting much more fun and worthwhile.) We spend a lot of time in Orlais, they are a very fashionable (despite the weirdness of their tastes) people. Does anyone really think that being able to buy clothing dyes at least in the Val Royeaux marketplace would be a stretch to the lore?

I am over the pj's in Skyhold as well. I could understand them in Hawke Estate, that was a house and we didn't spend much time there. We spend a LOT of time running around Skyhold in our jammies, talking to our people and it just doesn't feel right. Also, why the hell are our undergarments our pj's now? My poor Inquisitor now has fungal infections all over his body from all the sweat of running around wearing pj's under  his armor and you know that once he gets back to Skyhold and takes the armor off that he is ripe as hell and offending everyone. I can't believe Morrigan never called him out on it!

The Halamshiral outfit is okay on a guy (Dorian looked quite dashing) but on the ladies? It just looks inappropriate. And what self-respecting head of any major organization would be wearing the same outfit as his attendants to a ball in Orlais where the Empress herself was hosting? Honestly, it's just tacky and makes the Inquisition look pi$$-poor.

As for the armors, some look fairly decent. But why oh why are they all the same (or at least VERY VERY similar) no matter one's class? Why is my mage wearing the same outfit as my rogue on the previous playthrough? I get having an "iconic look" for the characters and that's great, but really? A mage Inquisitor should look like a mage, but the only thing that sets them apart visually from other classes are the weapons on their backs.

That is because black women (no offence if anyone thinks this is a racist remark) can pull off things like plaid and look good in it, where other people just look like clowns.

The armor problem could all be solved for me if they give me a T3 schematic for FERELDAN WARRIOR ARMOR!!! The barbarian looking one from DA:2.. and make it not race gated. I want my qunari walking round looking like this:

640px-Item_pack-02-warrior-o.jpg

... Minus the helmet.

your PC is much less interesting than NPCs in BW games. deal. with. it.

unless RNG gods love you and allow you to find some unique schematics that actually look decent. in a SINGLE PLAYER GAME

It always surprise me how much ignorant are some PC players. They should look at Dragon's Dogma (with its 62 hairstyles, body sliders, etherocromatic eyes and walking styles) or Skyrim/Oblivion and Saint Row IV, just to see how idiotic are such claims.

Yes, it is all so very ugly.

The only armour that I think looks relatively good on my female mage is the Apprentice armour (the one with a tail and a sash).  The coat armour is ridiculously unflattering and the mail makes you look like a padded couch (and why can't we at least dye the darn thing so the padding look less obvious?)

The patterns look like something done in a hurry with MS paint.  And dyes are so shiny and saturated there is practically no combination where two dyes won't clash.

I like the idea that you can make different armour from different parts, but someone forgot what aesthetics, form and color theory is when they were  making the armour .

I miss heavy armor that looks like heavy armor. My Qunari warrior has spent most of the game running around in what looks like a leather trench coat with metal gloves. It looks silly, especially with his clown make up Vitaar.

Why is it a story lite action rpg like Diablo 3 can have such an awesome transmog system where I can chose what my gear looks like and have a long list of options but it's beyond Inquisition to offer more than 4-5 looks per class if lucky.

I gotta second all of this, but *especially* the hairstyles, the Halamshiral outfit, ans the biege jammies. Luckily I'm on PC and there have been some really pretty re-textures of the Skyhold outfit and even a recolour of the Halamshiral outfit. Alas, there is no mesh modding yet so my dream of having my Inquisitor wear a gown to the ball is no-go, but even the re-colour looks better than the Nutcracker/ toy soldier outfit.

What really gets me is the hair. It is beyond awful. It is terribad. I can't speak for male chars because I only play female characters but even the one or two somewhat decent hairstyles just look *off*. Like the bun has a receding male-pattern baldness hairline. It's just strange. And what is UP with all the versions of buzzcut? Before I played this game I had no idea there was so many ways to stylize a buzz cut. You learn something new every day ...

I would make decent $$$ to have more hairstyles added. I'd love to see some braids for Qunari too.
