On my human male mage, when first becoming inquisitor, I never get the dialogue option for "I'll do it because it's right."

I only get:

1. "I'll be a servant of faith."

2. "Corypheus must be stopped."

3. "I'll do it for my own power."

4. "I'll set an example as a mage."

<no number 5 appears... I am guessing this is where the "because it's right" option should be >

6 "I will lead them to vengeance."

Can anyone tell me why this is? Do I need to choose a specific string of dialogue choices somewhere earlier to get that option?

Maybe certain decisions before made the game remove that.

I'm guessing this is the case, but I'm hard pressed to figure out which would be relevant. In pretty much every case I've played the good guy, picked positive dialogue options and generally acted heroic and just where possible. If anyone can pinpoint specifically what enables this option I'd greatly appreciate it.

Would that be an option tied to a perk like noble or something?

As far as I know it is not tied to any of the knowledge perks and I can't imagine which would make sense if it were. Nobility is about politics not justice/rightvs.wrong, Underworld is about criminal activity and war, History is well... history, and Arcane has to do with magic. No perk has anything to do with what's right/wrong or justice that I can tell.

Maybe you need to reject the rumors that you were sent by Andraste beforehand?

Probably not then, just throwing it out there. Were you a mage last time, or maybe just a human noble?  maybe it's just something that pops up when you don't have a special option.

Hmm that could be a possibility. I always chose the non-committal "I don't know if I am or not" dialogue options. Considering the situation, those seemed like the more sensible things to say when you don't remember the truth about how you survived the conclave.

If you make choices that implies your character believes himself to be the Herald then you get that option. The 'I'll be a servant of faith' and 'I'll do it because its right' are mutually exclusive. Just choose the 'Corypheus must be stopped' option if you want a more neutral option.

Ah ok then! I didn't realize those two options were mutually exclusive! I'll have to consider that next time I play through. Is it the non-comittal choices that give the "servant of faith" option? What happens if you choose outright rejection that you're the herald of andraste? Rejecting it and then going all servant of faith sounds odd if thats how it works out.

EDIT: oooh wait... THIS option "I fight for order, not faith." is probably what shows up if you reject!

I don't think this is correct. I think the mutually exclusive lines are "servant of the faith" and "my Inquisition is about order, not faith". I don't know specifically how to get "I'll do it because it's right"

My options in that conversation were:

1) Mage option

2) Qunari option

3) "Order, not faith"

4) "I'll do it because it's right"

5) "I'll do it for my own power"

I've never got servant of the faith or the one about revenge.

Hmm... there must be some factor that determines it... what sort of options did you pick prior? Did you embrace being the herald? stay unsure? or did you reject it outright?

After reading this i decided to sit through that dreadful musical scene two time in a row with two of my elf mage inquisitors (both rejected being the herald, but one said she believes in the creators in the first talk with cassandra and chose "fanatical belief is to blame" before finding skyhold, the other one said she doesn't believe when talking with cass and chose "I still don't believe" before skyhold) And my option were the following:

For the first one: 1 I'l do it for order, not faith, 2. I'll do it because it's right 3.Corypheus must be stopped 4.I'll do it for my own power. 6. The special dialogues (elf + mage)

For the second one: 1 I'l do it for order, not faith, 2.Corypheus must be stopped 3.I'll do it for my own power. 4.I'll lead them to vengeance 6. The special dialogues (elf + mage)

So, in conclusion, that option is tied to the inquisitor's belief in gods.

Thanks so much for taking the time to figure that out! I really appreciate it!
