I generally go with the character: Dalish, Dwarven, Qunari or Free Marches (for humans).
How did you decorate skyhold?

I tailor it to my character's background.
- Elf = everything dalish
- Dwarf = everything dwarven.
- For my noble romancing Dorian I made everything Tevitner to remind him of home and to sort of announce as a couple.
- For my female noble everything was Orlesian simply because it's pretty.

Because I've never heard of a "mike" that plays as a dwarf, nor are my dwarf senses tingling .....
That's all the proof I need.

That's not proof. That's only your assumption for which you have nothing to back it up with.
My current playthrough is a 2 handed female dwarf

The tevinter decor just made me feel like I was in that vampire castle in skyrim again.
I also thought it looked vampiric when i tried it, but i love that style.
In my Skyhold i put a mix of Tevinter and Dalish to represent the union of my elfy and Dorian.
Dragon Maw Throne
Tevinter Decor
Tevinter Heraldry
Dalish Drapery
Dalish Banner
Dalish Windows
Orlais Bed

I've just recently done some remodelling on my Travelyan's Skyhold. I decided to step away from my earlier overt Chantry influence, as my character emphasized less and less of that aspect after Here Lies the Abyss. Deciding to assert her Free Marches heritage while keeping some of the allied Andrastan and Orlesian imagery, I was very happy with how the new Skyhold ended up looking, with the accessorized Orlesian style throne as the centerpiece. It brought me back in some ways to Dragon Age II, and I half-expect the poignant cello music from the Hawke Estate to play when I enter. I love how it all blends in and makes a statement!
Skyhold Options Used:
- Banner: Inquisition
- Bed: Free Marches II (Love this bed!)
- Drapery: Free Marches (Was really surprised by how awesome these drapes were!)
- Heraldry: Inquisition
- Decor: Free Marches (So much Kirkwall For The Win!!!)
- Throne: Orlesian w/ Accessories
- Windows: Serrault Stained Glass (My favorite of the stained glass!)

Everything Inquisition style or Chantry style.
I'm not very original.
I am the bold. I tend to think that the Inquisition needs it's own style, not anyone else's.

Inquisition everything plus the basic Marcher bed was the only real choice for my (human warrior) Inquisitor. She didn't want to play political favors by using any national decor, plus it's the Inquisition's HQ so let's fly our colours proudly.
I don't really care for the silly Inquisition throne, but to stay in character it was either that, the dragon maw which got discarded for likely stinking up the place and looking uncomfortable as hell (pointy teeth for armrests, no thanks), or the Andrastian throne. At first I thought that one was pretty sweet ... and then I took a closer look at the statue ... and then I ran back into the Undercroft to swap it out again post haste. Devout believer or no, she was not going to hold court under such a hideously tortured-looking image of her Prophet.

Inquisition Banners
Inquisition Drapery
Inquisition Heraldry
Inquisition Throne
Dalish Windows
Free Matches II Bed
Tevinter Imperium Decor (just because there isn't "Inquisition Decor" or "Elvhen Decor" and didn't want to leave it empty)
I'm playing a character who feels it's wrong to wave any sort of flags, even though she is pro-mage and pro-elves.
My previous character were more daring with expressing their opinions through Skyhold's decor.

Default
Inquisition Drapery
Inquisition Heraldry
Inquisition Banner
Inquisition Windows
Chantry Decor (I don't care for the Chantry but know what it represents to the people and what it could become, once softened Leliana/Cassandra becomes Divine)
Enchanter Throne/Dragon Maw Throne (The minute I have access to the Enchanter throne I take it over the Dragon Maw, which is my second best option, besides, so far I've only been a mage in both my playthroughs)
Free Match Bed II/Orlais Bed
I have to represent the faction that I lead after all, but I still manage to add my personal preferences here and there.
Chantry Garden (Although my Inquisitor doesn't believe he's the Herald nor does he believe in the Chantryas an institution, he understands people need faith and hope, now more than ever. A place where they can practice their beliefs in peace and tranquility seemed more important than adding extra places to plant seeds, which I always forget to harvest anyways...)
Infirmary (If you don't choose the infirmary the surgeon operates on the floor.. not very practical, plus, the building used for the infirmary is just left vacant and I hate wasting resources)
mage Tower (Dependent on who I side with, though it's always mages so...)
I experiment with everything though. I like the Orlesian style a lot, but I have no love for their culture and rather not represent them (when roleplaying).
Fereldan throne & decor is pretty sweet as well.
