In 2.5 PTs I've never gotten the "we're distant relatives" conversation with Dorian. Unmet conditions or bug?

I know what it probably is. Mage conversation gets replaced with this, probably. That's the one thing I think Steel, you, and I have in common.

Oh, the "It just occurred to me that you're a mage" conversation? Makes sense.

Kind of wack, tbh. Warriors/rogues could have gotten something about being raised in the Chantry vs Imperial Chantry.

How have I gone my entire life without EVER seeing this??
And yea.. we look NOTHING alike. (obviously they can't really account for that). I took it as a joke and that he actually just caught wind of my family name or something.

Guess Tevinter's assume all human mages are related to eachother in one way or another. My mage don't know dat bro. I ain't read no Liberallum growing up.

Go ahead and find me one scene, that doesn't involve his father, that doesn't.

Ironically, my first Trevelyan did kind of look like Dorian, 'cept he was a little more Rivaini from his mother's side.

That would've made for some interesting controversy, and I thought Gaider loved controversy.
Why controversy?

Each time I've gotten the "related" talk (with all three of my humans), we were still in Haven, and my PC went through all the conversation choices with Dorian (I always end with the slavery conversation). Then, after I've exhausted all the dialogue, I'll click on Dorian again and he'll just start talking about us being related, without me having to choose a topic (because there would be nothing to choose except "goodbye". That opens up some more conversation choices concerning being related.
added: none of my 3 humans were mages. I'll play a human mage next time and see if I get that conversation.

I think he only says this to a non mage Trevelyan as well, which is odd.

Nah, he said it to my first human mage in Skyhold.

Well you're the only one I've heard of it happening to so far.
Anyway, as I've said before, I wouldn't be surprised if all noble houses in Thedas have Tevinter roots, even the ones that descend from Andraste. It's not like it's uncommon in our world for everybody to be related to everybody at one point or another.

Actually I was thinking about it more and I think it might have been a bug? You guys mentioned something about some mage specific dialogue with him and I don't recall that happening at all. Remember what that dialogue was about specifically? I also did the Templar path on that character so idk if that was a factor as well.

If you're a mage Dorian will say "It just occurred to me that you're a mage..." He'll say this after your first conversation with him. It may not be a bug then.

It's more of a reference to them being specifically related, although distantly, rather than just a general "all Tevinter noble houses are related" thing. In the dialog he does mention that as a child he was arduously tutored on the bloodlines connected to his family, and that he had to "go through all the old mnemonics" to recall the Trevelyan name after he recognized it as familiar.
Go ahead and find me one scene, that doesn't involve his father, that doesn't.
He is actually serious about a lot of subjects, abuse of magic is one such issue. The entire post-Adamant dialog is an example of this.
