Chill man it isn't a real person.

because I was totally raging. Three whole sentences of raging emotion .... rawr *voice dripping with sarcasm*

I read it much less as possessive and more extremely sarcastic poking fun at the phrase so many people have used when they ranted and raved in the forums about how the gay/bi romances even exist in game and are "forcing" homosexuality on the community. XD

Maybe that's just me though.

I'm glad my sarcasm wasn't completely lost here

For one it was more than a crush . Crushes don't last 10 years. Two it never needed to be stated ,it was heavily implied. I in all three games he shows zero interest in men . A mod or headcanon is the best you can hope for.

Load up a female Amell/Surana character into your world state, don't romance Cullen and ask him about the Hero of Fereldan. He still has feelings for her if the quizzy doesn't catch his attention. Hell, even in DA2 he mentions the Amell Warden as never having met "her like again". So yeah his feelings have lasted 10 years. That's not what I would call a simple "crush".

Okay, here it is:

Spoiler

Dunno. I'm not convinced. Apart from the lingering regret for treating her badly, it still sounds like a youthful infatuation to me. Which is to say, a crush. One that, though remembered fondly, is firmly in the past. And that he "never met her like again" in DA2 also doesn't necessarily mean he's still pining for her. Just that he hasn't fallen in love again, which could have any number of reasons (not the least being that he's still pretty traumatized and screwed up back then, so, you know, too wrapped up in his own stuff to even look at another person).

Even in DA:I he said he hasn't wanted to be with anyone for a long time. I am not convinced that it wasn't more then a passing crush, at least for Cullen. ( For my Warden as well but that's my head cannon :D ) It all but screams out that it took him a long time to get over her.

He says to the male Inquisitor "I would value your friendship. I'm afraid I cannot offer more." I think that's pretty straightforward (no pun intended). Cullen is shy and polite, he wouldn't say something like Sera who makes a disgusted face to the male Inquisitor and says "Your thing is not my thing". He was trying to tell the Inquisitor in a nice way that he's not interested in men. The dialogue with female qunari and dwarf is actually different. The tone of voice is way more gentle and before saying that line he says "I... If I've made you think otherwise... (sighs) I have so many responsibilities....". So he's obviously saying that because he's not attracted to the race and he's trying to come up with an excuse.

OMG that's hilarious! I didn't know she said that! Sera is the best lol. I have a question though, Solas has male romance lines too but why hasn't there been a same outcry? Why is there still an argument if Gaider settled it?

The heart isn't always romance sometimes it is also friendship and just being able to speak your mind to a close friend.

There has been a lot of people asking Solas to be bi as well.

At the moment there is "outcry" about this cause Cullen's m/m romance files were found in the game. And also character has had long gay following so many were rightfully upset when he was announced straight. I'm still thinking he's female only LI and race-gated because of time issues; since he was added during last year they didn't have time to animate romance scenes for him. The devs before game promised that there will be story-related reasons why Cullen and Solas are only into some races in the game but in the end there was none for Cullen unlike for Solas.

Neither...

I don't like the direction that our games are heading .

So you don't like that gay people can now romance someone in the games?

Actually, that conversation is a bit different if you romance him.

Spoiler

I don't know, my reaction was "That was...10 years...?". Or maybe it's just because at that moment my Inquisitor got a little jealous of my Warden :)

I really doubt him being race-gated and straight is due to time issues. The romance scenes are all the same when it comes to bi romances options for all genders and races, so it only would have taken a few extra lines from the male voice actors to make that happen. Pretty certain it was already officially stated that they decided against it because it wasn't working for his character.

As far as the race-gating thing goes, I'm going to take a wild guess and say he only likes female elves and humans because that's literally all he ever saw, being at the circle and all. He also has expressed some slight racism towards dwarves and qunari, calling them "heathens".

I still think there were mainly referring to Solas without directly pointing him out

No it wouldn't, it would have required re-animating all scenes with every gender and race of Inquisitor. And the romance lines are there already, the animation is missing. No it hasn't been exactly stated that being bi just didn't work for his character, Bioware actually hasn't even responded on him being bi in some part of development.

He called qun following qunari heathens and I really doubt Josie, Dorian etc. have been really seen many qunaris or dwarves before and been into them so I don't think these matter at all. I think it was purely because time issues since no reason for gating was found in the game although BW promised there would be story-related reasons.

I'd take it more as that he remembers her fondly. I still remember my old crushes. I think he might be feeling guilty as well on how it ended and thus was worried of Surana/Amell and because of that asked about it from Leliana. I doubt he still is in love or has crush on female mage.

Pretty sure my Surana didn't have fond memories of him though XD

Alright, I'll give you that one on the animation part. But they have responded on his sexuality.

See http://www.ladyinsan...terview-gaymerx

He basically says that he hated the "everyone is bisexual" thing in DA2, and that some characters have to be straight, some bi, etc. and that they eventually decided to make Cullen straight because it worked better with his character.

As far as the race-gating thing, you could be right, it is after all subject to opinion. But, some people are also more picky about what they  are into than others, Cullen just might be one of those. Josie, being a diplomat, might be more willing to experience different cultures and races than someone like Cullen who lived a more sheltered life, and has also had bad experiences with say, Qunari.

They could have also used the romance lines to test if the romance would've worked

And wasn't there a comment at GaymerX about them considering making an LI bi but it just didn't work out?

No . That people are so focused on LI in games .I like it too, but it's such a small part of the game . And it'll be even smaller in the next DA game .Why? Because of this love-sick fanbase of ours. I'll bet BioWare curses the day that even  introduced LIs into their RPG  games.  After Mass and DA are both done that might be the end of the whole LI thing.

Alright I take that as statement on it.

Personally I think it's bummer since in game sense character being bi/pan is nicer for largest amount of players. I'm not personally against mods either although many here seem to be ^^; But yep it's like it is.

People like games for different reasons. There is some people who buy Bioware's games solely for romances and I think it's okay as well.

Personally that would lower my enjoyment of their games a lot since romance is major part of game for me.

Yeah well I'll admit that there is alot of focus on the LI but my point was that I hope that if there is a knight in shining armor he will like other guys.

It will? DAI has surprising much more attention to LI than the two other games, imo. As far as I can tell a big portion of DA players are not very concerned about LI, it's just how things look like in here.
