They're anthropocentric cuz they're right!

The Church also used to preach the Earth is the center of the universe... that worked out really well for them.

God is Massively? Wat.

Cerberus supporter, Miranda fan, unburned by conscience, would sacrifice pretty much anything if it gets him what he wants, views humanity as superior...

The signs are all there :)

Yeah Massively, we're all well aware of your anthropocentric views.

Why are people still arguing about this? ME2 has been out for five years (well on the 26th of this month it will be 5 years old) . Jack experimented but she ended up not liking it. You can watch videos on YouTube of her character explaining this (or you can see it for yourself when you play the game), that she is not interested in Femshep sexually, because Jack identifies as being straight. Why can't Jack get close and experience love with a male Shepard? People arguing against it are perhaps a spiteful all or nothing crowd, some also seem to have a prejudice when it comes to mental health (apparently someone like Jack can't have love, because it would make for a 'creepy' romance). Also, the whole magic penis trope is absurd, the argument being that only a man can help person A etc. "Help" as used by these gaming curmudgeons, more specifically equates to "sex"--as though that is all there is to Jack's romance. If Jack was a lesbian or if she was bi, thus a female Shepard could romance her would these same people be saying that Shepard has a magic vagina, or penis/vagina?  I would think not. Liara had family issues, Shepard helped her through it, Liara is the bi option, does that constitute the stupid trope, magic penis or vagina? Did anyone even complain about it, no, because Liara was bi. Finally, did femShep's friendship, not help Jack grow as a person? It was said in ME3 that Shepard's friendship and leadership helped Jack greatly (no sex involved).

Jack's psychological state and how she gets a foothold into stability, is a shortened process for the purpose of the game. Video games are fantasy, they only reflect reality.  In reality Jack would need more than love and or friendship, she would need real therapy. Those people in her life who make up that love and friendship, would be like  her 'safe base' .

Mass Effect 4 is not even going to include these characters (except for historical mentions and allusions). ME3 was the finale for the traditional ME arch...It's not going to change canonically now, so what is the point of drudging up this pointless argument?

Assuming that you're going to do romances I honestly think that having at least two options [minimum] for your run of the mill sexes & orientations would be the way to go.

Straight Male PC -> 2 or more ; minimum 1 of your species

Straight Femaile PC -> 2 or more ; minimum 1 of your species

Homosexual Female PC -> 2 or more ; minimum 1 of your species

Homosexual Male PC -> 2 or more ; minimum 1 of your species

Bisexual PC of any gender -> Probably can be covered by above

In terms of NPCs, squadmates, etc. I'm perfectly fine if we get a statistically abnormal number of straight, homosexual, or bisexual characters.

In terms of how sexuality is handled I think the PC should largely initiate any "flirting" or similar.  That strikes a reasonable balance between folks that want romances, folks that don't want any romances, folks that want to target specific romances without accidentally getting locked into another romance because they were "friendly" to someone else ; etc.

Then again it would be BW's game.  They can and should do what they want but I think the above things as laid out would be perfectly reasonable.

What if you could turn a straight character bi?

What? ... When you start the story everyone has their sexual preference of course, but what if they change over time?

Humor me...

I am almost certain that it would require many many paragon and or renegade interrupts, but still. The next Mass Effect will have romance options, of that I am certain.. but here is a made up example...

Girl 1 = hetro

Girl 2 = les

Girl 3 = hetro (can chance with prerequisites)

Girl 4 = bi

Guy 1 = hetro

Guy 2 = hetro (can change with prerequisites)

Guy 3 = bi

Guy 4 = hetro

I only like girls, but for other people, where is it written in stone that they cannot change?

You're missing out on half of the game. Arguably the better half.

Actually that wasn't entirely true. I did complete ME1 once with Fem Shep. I just never completed the entire trilogy with her. I ended up watching the rest on a Let's Play.

I just enjoyed Meer's performance more, so I never went back to continue that character.

Indeed, playing as Male Shep feels so much more... natural.

Meer definitely feels more Shepard than Hale ever did.

Eh, Hale's alright, I really liked her performance in ME1. Something happened with her voice in ME2 and ME3 though, she starting doing this whole sighing, gruff thing. It was really weird.

Only on a Bioware forum would you find guys arguing against more F/F relationships being added to the game. Only on a Bioware forum.

You haven't been around much other forums have you?

Depends on which kind of forums. I mainly spend my time around various sports forums, and the few I know there who are into the ME games, have no issues with more F/F relationships.

M/M relationships however......lol. I just go into hiding when the rants about Steve and Kaidan start.

If it makes you sleep easier at night... sure, that's what's going on.

I would sleep easier at night knowing that ignorant people would keep their mouths shut on things they do not know about, but by the looks of it, I will have to make do with the amount of shut-eye I get as it is.

Jack never should have been a love interest for anyone. She's really, really messed up. I really like Jack, I think she's probably a top 7 maybe top 5 Mass Effect character ever. But she's so damaged that it never made a lot of sense to make her a romance option.

Some people seem to think so. And they may be right, where it themselves in her position, but Jack is stronger than she gets credit for. If anything, I believe it is a common mistake people make with good intention, to leave alone the people who need to feel love and compassion the most. Being lonely is almost as bad as being mistreated.

Well lucky you I guess. If you want your expieriences to stay that way never visit any game forums. Especially not the forums of games with actual F/F relationships or subtext (*shudders at the memory of the Tomb Raider forums*). And whatever you do, don't ever read any youtube comments.

Seriously just don't. Doing that just once will make you loose more braincells than binge drinking all weekend long. ;)

Tomb Raider? You mean Lara and Sam? I don't even know what was going on there. Are they together? I really couldn't tell due to the awful writing.

Bsically nobody really knows and it's kind of up for interpretation. But doing as much as bringing up that Lara might have crush on Sam will cause a lot of hate for reasons that are beyond my understanting.

Throw Liara somewhere in there and I'm sold.

Also dehydrated from excessive sweating.

Honestly, personally, it's mindsets like this that repelled me away from ever playing Femshep.

A lot of people seem to be wondering "how can someone else be so ignorant".  The only thing I'm wondering is why so many seem to be wasting their time with the ignorant.  If it seems like the person your discussing / arguing with seems that ignorant then I wouldn't waste your time esp. if it seems they're entrenched in their position.

Basically engage with the rational and let the ignorant or irrational do their thing.  I think this applies equally to both sides of the argument.
