Hey everybody,
Firstly, I do not really know where I'm going with this thread, yet I felt the need to express myself anyways. Yay internet!
(That's just to say I do not want this to turn into another meanie-buzzkill compendium of complaints.)
One of the conscious decisions I was disappointed the most with in Dragon Age: Inquisition, was the lack of an animal companion.
I have always been a dog person, so obviously I really enjoyed having a full-blown companion slot reserved for a canine in DAO. And not even a lame, magical talking one that's actually a person with a different model! The second game still enabled me to summon the family dog which some may call a trivial fluff addition, but to me, it was kind of an important trivial fluff addition. Hawke always ran around with his trusty dogbro, even when just browsing in Kirkwall; as did his Warden predecessor who bore a striking resemblance with the latter, before him. To Hawke, not his Mabari. (Granted though they were equally chatty)
I wasn't expecting BioWare to bring back another Mabari taking up a companion slot, but a "spell-solution" similar to DA2 would have been nice. I find myself lingering way longer around the Hissing Wastes High Tier Armor Store™ than necessary, to ensure the ONE friendly Mabari remaining in Ferelden is still save. You know, it being only a lvl 50 Elite Boss and those lvl 19 spiders in the neighbourhood always shooting suspicious glances and/or deadly venomous acid bolts. (I may just stubbornly hope after the umpteenth visit, to maybe yet discover a hidden interactivity prompt to adopt it.)
The confusing thing to me is, that so many resources were spend on absolutely absurd gimmicky things like curtains and the entire customization of the Keep while we're at it, which means absolutely nothing to me (only love to all who favour it though). It's not a long shot to assume that if they obviously want me to be Prince Charming Dreamlover of Wondercastlestan, it'd be possible to have a pet at my side, too.
Much to all his subordinates' impotent confusion, my Inquisitor didn't engage in frollicksome demon banishing for two full days; which he spent trying to get his Ferelden-style throne to play catch! (Trivia: It didn't play catch)
Alas. Anyone else dreading they don't have to remove dog hair from their pastelle-colored pyjamas before granting audience to North Korean ambassadors for fashion talk?
With peace & laughs,
B
TL;DR: Do you like dogs? Do you like their hypothetical existence in Dragon Age Inquisition? I like dogs!
P.S.: The mounts don't cut it for me. I never summon them, cause what's Dragon Age without a group of misfit adults moving about public places like ducklings at the strangest pace?
