Cole's and Cassandra's missions are big parts of why they are my favourite characters, so unsurprisingly Subject to His Will and Promise of Destruction are the ones I like best.

While I'm think Bioware went a bit overboard with the "Everything and everyone is corrupt!" theme, Promise of Destruction puts a pretty interesting doomsday cult spin on it. Lucius' actions are inexcusable, but instead of an evil-for-evil's-sake villain he is one of the characters who demonstrate the possible effects of strong faith combined with a severe crisis and/or the end times. I wish the "faith" theme had been given more weight, and this character with it. And, of course, the mission also shows more of Cassandra, which is always a good thing. I liked the obvious old fondness between her and her former apprentice (poor guy!), but most of all it's a display of her immense personal integrity, faith and caring for other people. She really is a Seeker of Truth instead of someone all too willing to settle for comfortable, "easy" answers, and I respect her tremendously for it. Plus, her willingness to be open about her struggles underlines how far she and the Inquisitor have come as friends. I wish I could have hugged her like I could hug Varric after Hawke's "death".

Subject to His Will is just mind-blowing. More than any other mission, it captures and defines what the character is all about, and the fact that Weekes thankfully changed his mind about humanity being the original "win condition" and gave us two equally well-written and viable solutions makes it even better. Cole is a raw nerve of emotion much of the time, but usually it's other people's emotions ... here, we see so much of his own. Fear, upset, despair, grief and, absolutely shockingly for this gentle being, pure rage and bloodlust. The whole thing is so well written, voiced and animated -- especially the spirit path, my personal preference, because you can so clearly see and hear the negative emotions crack, then fade away and transform as Cole opens up, reaches out and reclaims what he is. It's humbling and awe-inspiring and just damn beautiful. Solas and Cole are always great together, here they are absolutely perfect.

Sera for the long string of confusing swears and Solas because I get to kill some stupid Kirkwall mages.

How those mages managed to not get made tranquils by Meredith boggles the mind.

I quite liked Under Her Skin (Calpernia's quest) but I usually side with the mages and sadly never see it. My favourites for the actual Inner Circle have to be Dorian's, Cole's and Cassandra's though. I like that Cole's is a very grey-area, no right answer sort of thing. Dorian's, I mostly just like the convesation with him when you get back to Skyhold. Both of Cassandra's are great, though I wish Promise of Destruction was a bit longer; it's one of the few that feels like an actual quest. Oh, and Varric's. Bianca, living Lyrium, sort-of-but-not-really Deep Roads? yes please :P

The Last Resort of Good Men. Such wasted potential but still fantastic.

Solas' was pretty amazing. The tea scene, the build-up with the bodies, those choices, the doubt, dialogue options - magical perk, the Rift mage option, romance option, the elven Inquisitor actually understanding actual elven, the returning scene to Skyhold... All in all, it was a touching story.

I never found any bodies before reaching the mages, where are those? O_o

I like the advisors the most.

The Left Hand of the Divine - It's short, it's sweet, and you get real insight into Leliana, even if you keep her hardened.

Perserverance - It was a drug addiction story dealt with in a novel way, and an adult way, not the way stories normally go with this.

Of Somewhat Fallen Fortune - Insightful, articulate, and the scene with "Comte Boisvert" was full of sinister intrigue. I loved it.

Cassandra's was all right, doable but could have used a little more talk about Daniel. Varric's was fun, Solas's felt detached (he kept calling the spirit "my friend" and it felt weird. Iron Bull's was emotional (if an easy choice - Screw the Qun!), Cole's was the same way (turn him human). Samson and Calpernia were very interesting in different ways, I do wish we could get both in one playthrough. Vivienne's was surprisingly heartwarming, Blackwa''s gave him the depth he needed (although too little too late), ditto with Sera (although I thought her talk about the elderly lady was very articulate). Dorian's was terrible.

Seeing Sera beat that noble to death was just...

Orgasmic.

Cole's, Cassandra's and Iron Bull missions were pretty good as well though.

Sera's, mostly because of reactions, was very enjoyable and I was also romancing her the first time so it made sense to like.

Cassie's Guilty pleasures definitely ranks high; I just love her being human, and Varric... i feel like their dynamic was one of the most interesting things in DAI. Which makes sense for me, because Varric's dynamic with the others has always been one of the high points for me.

Being qunari, I thought Demands of the Qun was a very tough choice, but at the same time a logical choice (while knowing reprecussions) because of her being Tal-Vashoth and having observed how IB struggled under the, well, the name of the quest. I liked it overall, except for the fact that if my quizzie could plan that nobody would die, i'm sure of it. :) Silly tests.

Those are my favourites, but I liked most of them. I'm going to sound like a broken record but part of why I dislike Vivienne is because of her quest. It is simply not enough for establishing her in my eyes. Even if you can assume ulterior motives throughout (which you can't call her out on), you just kind of nod and move along. At least I did. If it counts, the best thing with her is when she shows her whiny side to redecorate, veiled as a lesson. :D But that's hardly a quest I suppose.

Investigating Calp0rnia with Leliana. It was cool to see the spymaster at work and get insight into the enemies.

Cole and Cassandra's personal quest was my favorite.

Solas and Iron Bull's is good, but I enjoy Cole's personal quest the most. There's no right or wrong in this.

I never found any bodies before reaching the mages, where are those? O_o

You have to follow the path to Solas' quest from the very first camp, without making circles or straying anywhere. On the map: do you remember the small ruin where you find the glyph for the Temple of Dirthamen? Go straight past it(leave it on your right), and soon after(keep going!), you'll see first a white body of the mage(clickable), then a few burnt corpses(also clickable), and then it's the quest itself. I only found out all about it on my fourth playthrough or thereabouts, I think.

I like the advisors' the most too storywise. This gives us more insight on the personality, history and background info of the advisors. The advisors always act professionally in cutscenes (unless romanced) while the companions can have banter to flesh out their character.

Tho metagaming-wise, I would say Cole's and Perseverance the best as there are no right decisions to make. Making Cole a spirit/human, making Cullen take lyrium or not both have valid arguments. Yet these decisions would affect the character for a lifetime.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'll have to try that in my next game -- this time around, I just fast-travelled to the Dalish camp and legged it from there. Having a little more build-up should add to the atmosphere.

As for the advisors, I thought they were nothing special. Josephine's bored me because while I do like the character, I find it hard to connect to the woes of a rich noble house when the world is coming apart at the seams. Leliana's was too thin, too sudden, the climax of too little character development, and didn't reassure my worries about her unstable personality at all. I just can't trust her not to "harden" and go stab-happy all over again the next time something bad happens in her life, so "softening" her didn't feel like much of an accomplishment even though I want it to, and want her to be happy. Cullen's was the best, with some good acting in the raw emotional parts and a feeling of being involved on a more personal level, both as his leader and his friend. I think the way he admits to his struggles plays a significant part in allowing a friendship to grow in the first place -- he can't keep up the professional face at all times anymore and actually needs to open up in hopes of finding support. Also, his quest has Cassandra in it, and that is always a plus. :P
