My only question is who gives a ****?  I didn't realize a gay guy would make most of you blush so much.

I though we were discussing basic statistics?

I though we were discussing basic statics?

statistics, I presume.

And go ahead...but they are not really relevant to anything, so I don't see the point of them.

So.. why were they brought up?

No idea. I repeat what I said before, who cares about stats regarding this issue?

I only know some of those from Xbox.
I don't recall any significant LGBT characters in: Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim & Saints Row IV.

I'm not sure I'd call a 'sensitive portrayal', the simple ability to romance (or bang) other characters as either gender.

Sure, it's a good thing for player choice, but I'd say BioWare story based romance plots are at another level.

Skyrim's romance plots and dialogue were hardly complex,

let alone any companion dialogue, 'I'm sworn to carry your burdens'.

FO:NV had the scientists - Arcade I think his name was - the one who you meet at the followers of the apocalypse camp in New Vegas. But is so subtly done you'd never know it.

Keep adding to that list and soon enough BSN will be deserted for you. XD

My ignore list is 5 pages long. The BSN is a paradise (most of the time, the list *does* grow with threads like these). X)

It'sfunny, I don't ignore anyone. I like hearing everything, makes the arguments fair in the end.

Ignoring people can lead to ignorance of what others can say. Although some folks deserve it more, I guess.

Arcade Gannon and Veronica Santangelo, two followers of yours. Veronica was more overt about it, Arcade mentions it once or twice in passing dialogue or if you have the confirmed bachelor perk, which is basically 1950's code for homosexual.

Truth be told, it was done ok. Never made into a big deal which I like, and Arcade in particular had a ton of development as a character to warrant a discussion without mentioning his sexuality.

RPGs and cRPGs most definitely rely on story, characters, romance and dialogue. Tell me one cRPG that does not have any of those?  It can have the best UI and gameplay but what is the reason for playing the cRPG without the story?

Recently ? Divinity Original Sin and Lord of Xulima have a bad story but people enjoyed for the gameplay.

In the old day, Icewindale, Legend of Grimrock, Might of Magic, etc...

So yeah, a c-rpg doesn't need to have a good story, it's just help to have a better experience but clearly if the gameplay is solid the players usually prefer it over the story part.

Well Skyrim is biggest proof how game doesn't need no story at all to be fun lol

Every decently-sized game has at least a rationale for why you're doing what you're doing. Otherwise you might as well just manipulate the data structures directly. Bad story doesn't equate to no story.

Every magazine, video game critic, and organization that gives DAI GOTY or anything higher then a 2 rating I've been crossing off to never look at their material or ratings again.

Anybody know any that have given DAI a 2 or less rating?  Those are the honest ones and ones I can trust in the future.  (provided they gave the rating prior to the game release) if everybody gave 5+ stars prior to release then that proves none of them played the game and rate games base on alpha content and guessing.

Hint: the statistical confidence of the sample size is 95%+ at 1000 random samples for any given size of population.

This one gives 3/5 but I find the review and conclusions very well articulated and convincing.

You're not going to be looking at many magazines, video game critics, and organizations then, good luck with that.

Here's a link to the 114 GOTY's so you know who to avoid.

I've heard of Bayesian inference, but this is the first time I've heard of anti-inference. It's good to be able to update one's likelihood in the presence of a prior. Otherwise we'd be nothing more than robots.

I never said the story had to be good. I said it had a story. The story gives the context and purpose of why the party is even there. All of the games you mention have a story. Even with the early games you got to roleplay all the party members so you headcanon the story parts for them. The overall story controlled the NPCs that the party interacted with.

Actually Syrim has several stories with one over arching story. The stories may or may not be execute well but they exist. Skyrim also allows the gamer to create their own story or purpose for playing the game.
