What is this talk about sample sizes? Can anyone give me the sample of elves, dwarves, mages and qunari in the real world? How much of the world's biosphere depends on nugs, druffalos and dragons? The latest fashion in real-life Orlais perhaps?
Cripes, using this argument any game that doesn't have a majority of humans be of Chiene or Indian ascendency is unrealistic, since these are the two most populous cultures on Earth by a fairly wide margin. Or maybe we could admit we're playing a fantasy game set in a fantasy world and don't give a hoot that Thedas has 1% more gay people than our world.
Exactly.
Great!
You know all this good will and congratulating is nice but makes for a pretty boring read. I feel some controversy and pointless bickering its needed.
So to that end - dogs and pants and cats are awesome.

Pants are only awesome if the schleets don't steal them. =/
Congrats BioWare!
This is a well deserved award.
BioWare tend to be on the forefront of including LGBT characters and I hope more AAA studios follow suit.
If I don't count BioWare games, I count the number of games with LGBT characters on one hand
I don't count Saints Row, Skyrim, Fable or Dragons Dogma because all the romances, such as they are, are player sexual.
Playsexual romances don't add inclusiveness to games, they just let players romance who ever they like.
Adding Gay or Trans characters to games acknowledges their existence.
Great!

Congrats bioware!
Oh wait, that’s’ too positive for the BSN. Wahh pandering! Because pandering is only ok when it is to me, homosexuals are only ok when there quite enough about it that you can pretend their straight if you don't hit on them yourself and there is no way anyone in bioware could possibly have wanted to put content like this in the game or tell stories involving homosexual characters. Clearly it was just all those mean SJWs twisting their arm and cynical attempt to get sales. Opinion are expressed in this game I do not agree with therefore it’s an agenda and I'm going to all of sudden care about the percentage of a population who is X in random sample of characters in my fantasy game.

OR EAT YOUR EYEBALLS!!!!!
God, they paid for this too?
lol
Sure they did because GLAAD always takes bribes for the awards they give.
I'm curious, what makes you say so? I'd say the world (which, fair enough, always has its part to play in the story, but still!) benefits from it the most, personally.
To give this question context, this was asked in reference to my opinion that the game was richer for its inclusivity and representation.
Obviously, it's a fantasy game set in a fantasy universe, and it doesn't have to be a perfect mirror of the real world, but people need to be able to connect with that universe to feel invested in it. People see themselves in the characters who inhabit the world and it makes the world feel more real, more alive. Thedas isn't a galaxy with a solitary "gay planet" while the rest of the universe is straight. In Thedas, you find couples like Wade and Herren, where their orientation is there and not treated as a shameful thing, or as the reason they exist. They're a team, a smith and his business manager. The fact that they're also a couple adds depth to their characters. Krem is a trans man. That isn't the reason he's there. He's Bull's lieutenant. But a lot of trans people can identify with him, and the fact that his gender isn't a big deal in the game means a lot to some people playing it. Not everyone is going to see themselves in these characters, obviously, but their inclusion doesn't hurt them any more than the fact that they live side by side with LGBT people in the real world (and may not even realize it). But playing the game and interacting with these characters may give them insight they might never get otherwise, and in a safe, non-confrontational way. To me, that seems valuable.
Hearing how Krem's family reacted to his decision to live true to himself struck a nerve with me. My family disowned my cousin because she's a trans woman. I tried getting her contact info from my uncle to let her know that I still consider her family, but he won't even acknowledge that he has another child.
Plus, I like the romances. I'll play a protagonist of either gender, but I prefer to play as a (trans) man who romances men. They don't need to jump through any hoops to give me the trans part. The CC is excellent, and I wouldn't want other characters harping on my character's trans status anyway. But it means a lot to me that I do get to play the gender and romances that I want to play, and I'm happy that other players have the same ability.
TL, DR: These stories need to be told.

Damn that's awesome. I think it's one of the best recognitions the game has gotten. They did a fantastic job with the variety of characters!
Have you figured out your mistake yet? Hint 2: it has nothing to do with random sampling.
A mistake can only be found if it was made. Your claims are amusing to me.
Also: is Ultima V an RPG?

Also: is Ultima V an RPG?
Does it have violence, bling and powerups?
(There is an easy way to disprove this definition. You have not found it.)
I am intrigued.
But yes, it has all that, so Ultima V is certainly an RPG using that definition. .... but... what about a game like Planescape Torment or Deus Ex where direct mortal violence is not needed.
Surely I have now successfully disproved your fine definition!

Oh sure, you could try playing PST without killing anything.
No. Try again.
It will have to wait until the morrow, I'll sleep on it.

What? The night is still young!
Here's a hint: Call of Duty.
Aw shucks, the hint had to be a game I never played.
I'm the anti-Slumdog Millionaire.
Hmm. I personally have a bit of a problem with the typecasting Dragon Age does when representing LGBT characters, well, more specifically, gay and bisexual characters (Sera was excellent and so was Krem... helps us forget Serendipity). But, who am I to argue with GLAAD? Onwards, BioWare. Hopefully DA4 gay and bisexual characters will carry a few less tropes with them.

I don't think such a thing would necessarily fit in Inquisition, but I really do miss being able to visit the wacky brothels around Thedas. Alas, it wouldn't do to have the herald of Andraste being spotted doing illicit things with nugs like the Warden did*.
