Very nice.
Hope the future DLC keeps in step with this trend.

What trend?
Every magazine, video game critic, and organization that gives DAI GOTY or anything higher then a 2 rating I've been crossing off to never look at their material or ratings again.
Anybody know any that have given DAI a 2 or less rating? Those are the honest ones and ones I can trust in the future. (provided they gave the rating prior to the game release) if everybody gave 5+ stars prior to release then that proves none of them played the game and rate games base on alpha content and guessing.
Even by BSN standards this is kind of sad. If a critic disagrees with you on something, he's automatically untrustworthy about everything?
The last two months have been weird by BSN standards.
Then again I have only been here for a year or so. I'm so glad I wasn't here for the ME3 debacle. Must have been worse.

If I wrote off every critic that I disagreed with, I'd basically be listening to no one at all.

The DA forums were a lot worse in the months after DA2 was released.
(Which is not to say that this place has been sunshine and rainbows lately, but compared to that ...)

You all forget Mass Effect 3...
You all forget Mass Effect 3...
I've never spent time on the ME forums, since I played the games long after all three were released.

Oh honey...
May the world never have to experience a fan backlash of that magnitude again. Whether or not it was justified is irrelevant to the fact it was brutal.
There were people figuratively killing each other for scraps in the streets! Crazy conspiracies laced with even crazier rationalizations (what if the ending was only pretending to be ****?)! It were dark times indeed.
Exactly.
I thought you said it could wait till morning?
Perhaps you should play it. That way, you'll be informed when you tell the world that it's terrible.
Sorry to interrupt -and Atlantico is also a BSN friend - but I have to say, watching two statistics guys (gals, demi-half-three-quarters sexual, who knows?) teasing each other like that is kind of cute. ![]()
Sample not big enough, small N, data-mining, check out my inverse r actualization, hem, my, oh my. ![]()

I kind of wish I was here for that. I would no doubt have figuratively scavenged the dead and lived like a hermit in the fan art forum.

Yeah, so I've heard. It certainly spilled over onto the DA forums from time to time. (And convinced me to stay out of the ME forums forever. I don't love that series enough to deal with that kind of thing.)

I think they're always pretty bad, but I actually only really pop in around major releases when I feel so moved. So that may color my perception. I do think post-ME3 was the worst I ever saw them, and I've been here since ME2.
This place is productivity poison.

But does it prove IT?

The ME forums after ME3 was released were one hell of a cesspit, yeah. I strongly disliked the **** ending we got, but the way some people went on and on and on about it you'd think Bioware went into their house and killed their dog or something.
DA2's release was also much worse than Inquisition's. We have a reasonable split between praise and critique nowadays, back when DA2 released it was a big ball of complaints. Many of which were perfectly justified, mind, but still.

Now a days it seems like some complain for the sake of complaining, or evangelize for the sake of evangelizing...

Definitely. The rage was so, so much worse and unlike now, where anger, hate, dark side is balanced by people who genuinely enjoyed the game (both those that acknowledge faults and those that do not), with DA2 the most people seemed able to muster in favour of it was.."it's not the worst game I've ever played".
Never forget, so it is never seen again.

Complaints were justified. Much else that transpired on these boards over that time were not. Calling for Laidlaw/Darrah/Gaider to be fired/resign etc wasn't called for, regardless of how disappointed people were, or what they thought they'd been promised vs what they received.

Truth.

Wow, that's exactly how I'd describe DA:I, it's not the worst game I've ever played.

I don't know about that, but I'm sure those fine gentlemen may well have to brush up on their CVs after DA:I.
Not because it was a disaster, but because it's not a success. Again.

The problem is that it got far more toxic than that. Certain posters were actually making physical threats against members of the development team which is never called for.

Which regardless of requirements for 'thick skin' leads to:
Until whatever it is, is released or is very shortly about to be.
And I wouldn't blame anyone for that reaction.

And that was just for Dragon Age II...I remember the hate that people/ like Jen Hepler got because of some comments she made regarding the kind of video games she enjoys. Got so bad that people were basically being vile pricks for no reason.
Mass Effect 3 was still worse though. I have never seen so many butthurt folks in my life. And honestly...I still argue the backlash was not justified at all in the bigger picture of things there.
Inquisition is much more tame, but it feels artificial to me, almost faked. You know, like people are looking for things to hate or love about the game just to rile up folks.
Some stuff, yeah, I can see some criticism for. The way talents and spells were handled actually annoyed me a lot because of how well the talent/spell trees were implemented in Dragon Age II, for example, is a legitimate problem in my book. Not to mention the stripping of sustained abilities into either attack or passives, with passives being a requirement for stat increases.
But the complaints about exclusivity and diversity...yeah that seems like fabricated outrage.

That's terrible to hear. D/L/G may be showrunners of questionable abilities, but no one deserves threats against their lives or good health.
