-sigh-... I didn't say it DOES work better on consoles, I'm saying it COULD and I don't play on the console so why would I suggest something that others may not be bothered about? It's not difficult to understand o.o

Well, I did have an implicit assumption there. I assumed that a suggestion might do better if it was supposed to benefit 100% of the players, rather than 25% or so. I don't see why you're kneecapping your own proposal.

The 8-skill limit has been one of the worse decisions made by bioware. I was saying that even before the game came out but people kept saying to wait until I try it, but after I have tried it, the 8-skill limit sucks monkey b**** just as I have suspected.

Who wanted an 8 skill limit? Who? It makes no sense. I'm on the PS4 and its just as bad for me my PC friends. Radial wheel please.

If you give the characters more than 8 useable skills but only 8 slots, then that's shoddy design and an arbitrary limitation that hinders diversity for character builds.

End of story.

LOL You think thats a few.  You would NOT survive Guild Wars 2.

GW2 has 16. You can swap weapons sets on the fly.
SWTOR has dozens. Literally every ability you have can be put on a Hotbar.

As a matter of fact, you can even swap weapons in all the battlefield games.

And like I've said multiple times, I don't play it on the console so I would not know if my suggestion would benefit console players(More than likely it wouldn't, I can't imagine swapping through 5-10 different hotkey selections would be better in anyway whatsoever). I don't see how I can make it any more clear for you lol.

I didn't play DA:O on console either, but a radial wheel would be much better than selecting different hotkey bars.

Pretty much the same as just removing button from he player's controller, in order to make the game more difficult.

How'd you figure that out? Having 8 slots for ~13 abilities is a dodgy idea to begin with - having 8 slots in a system where you have to take active skills to unlock other active skills is even worse. The player can't even avoid running out of space.

After GW, did anyone really buy GW 2? I know I didn't. Apples and oranges though, this isn't GW 2.

I feel rather limited with 8 skill abilities

I support having more than 8 skill abilities.

What really bugs me about the 8 skill limit is the AI does *not* have this limit.  When you are not controling a character they start to use skills that are not on the hotbar.  If the crappy AI gets to pick from all the skills why can't we?

Actually, that's not true. I tested this several times and if an ability is not on the hotbar, the AI will not use it. Even if you disable all but one ability, they are not going to use it if it isn't on the hotbar.

BG2 had around 350 spells alone, that the player could choose to use. DA:I lets the player use 8 spells.

Yep, and you could use them all the time.

Oh wait, no. You had to sleep to memorize them, a select portion of them. (not even mentioning most of the differences in spells were just visual/elemental, in essence most were the same)

But please, drink some more nostalgia. It makes you an really nice person I've heard.

Yes, AD&D 2nd ed. is a strategic game. Who are you trying to convince that DA:I is a strategic game? It is not. The game is just as easy with the first 8 random abilities a player acquires as any other.

In the end, it doesn't matter which abilities and combos you put in your "holy" 8-slot quickbar in DA:I, there's no way to lose. It's just more monotonous when some abilities and combos are not there because of artificial space constraints.

I'm not arguing DA:I is more strategic. You really need to stop putting words in my mouth I've never said.

Yes. Well, good we have that settled. So it would be fine then, to allow people to have access to all their boom-booms and flash-flashes in DA:I instead of limiting them artificially, since there's not a strategic element to be considered?

I'd rather have my 10 spells to the 8 that I have, oh, and blood mage too O.O And healing, that's also one.. A blood mage tanking is glorious. Nostalgia may be nostalgia but hey, can ya deny there were better things for combat in da2 over DA:I? I like my combat after all.. Best part of any game, along with good story to support..

You... aren't very familiar with BG, right?

There were lots of ways to use spells. Mage and priest spells required preparation, true. But what about the sorcerers? What about innate abilities like an Inquisitor's True Sight? Druid shapeshift?

Yes, there weren't 350 completely different spells and some were pretty much useless.

But compared to mages in DA:I you have much more freedom of choice, many viable builds and a lot of possible combinations.
