The warden is on his/her own personal quest to stop the advancement of the taints corruption, so initially the HoF may not be at Weisshaupt.

Personally i was disappointed Mage hawke didn't use spells in the fade and at the very least I was hoping to see enchanted weapons on non-Mage hawke ...

I'm not a fan of the taint cure either. It just feels like a cop out, and I don't think it would exist in the lore if we didn't have a main character who is a Warden. I think it's just there for fanservice and allowing a player character to avoid the Calling.

I'm also not a fan of the Warden being on a personal quest to save himself/herself while the world, and his/her order, is facing bigger problems.

I find it so hard to sacrifice my Hawke, it's just so god damn sad. The third saddest thing about it is Varric's story about Hawke and the thugs (I balled my eyes out), the second saddest thing is that Fenris has to find out by a letter, but the saddest part of all is that Fenris only knows how to read that letter because Hawke taught him how.

Man if I was the HoF, I'd let Weisshaupt tear itself apart.

I let Hawke die so I can ****** off Varric. Been tired of his ass since my second DA2 run and I'd do anything to get rid of him. To bad letting him keep that red lyrium shard doesn't do ****. Only time I don't kill off Hawke is if he/she is romancing Merrill.

Sacrificed Hawke the first time, although the Varric situation was hard to swallow.

So I did Alistair next, and Varric still felt it which kind of sucked.

Also while talking about all the wardens dying, if you exile them is that potentially saving their lives? Why I exiled them on the second play through.

I can easily leave Hawke in the Fade for Alistair or Stroud. Loghain(provided that I played an import with him alive) will always be left instead.

There is no reason to sacrifice anyone; other then "Someone one has to distract the Nightmare demon!" Whoever survived the Fade will return in a future installment. Hawke leaving for Weisshaupt is just Biowares' way of dealing with the cliffhanger that was DA2's conclusion -- despite the fact that it's utter nonsense for her to leave in the middle of a war to become a postman.

I agree that the whole sacrifice bit is unnecessary. Problem is, I have no doubt that people would complain if you're "forced" to have Hawke play a role in the fight against Corypheus to some capacity and was an NPC in Skyhold.

"Wtfomgbbq y is Hawke squattin in mah castle??"

Alistair needs to remain a Warden in DAO to show up in that quest.

I had to choose between him and Hawke. It was awful.

That's why it is better to make Alistair king

I think the people who let Hawke die are the ones who never cared much for DA2. I didn't like playing as Hawke. Pretty bored throughout that game. I toss him/her into the Fade's dustbin in every playthrough regardless of who the Warden is. Alistair > Loghain > Stroud > Hawke.

People who actually liked DA2 or Hawke have a tougher choice. For me, not so much.

I love DA2, and the choice is kinda easy as pie.

I find it hard to believe whoever you choose to remain behind actually dies. It's implied, but it also hints that they may die. It's not for certain, so I have a feeling whoever is chosen, will show up in a later game. Personally my first DA game was DA2, so Hawke became a part of myself and losing her is harder than choosing someone I hardly know or connected to (especially if she romanced a companion and/or her sibling survived), but at that point I make separate saves to play out the story both ways.

Yeah, either you like one game more than the other (Loghain lives, Hawke becomes a spirit of Failure in my canon).

Or you liked both and it's a hard decision.

Or you don't know what's going on and it's a toss up between Mustache Guy and Varric's friend.

I love DAO and DA2. Leaveing stroud behind was still rough. I hate leaving my soldiers to die. RIP Kaidan, Mordin,Legion, Thane, and Stroud.

Considering I loved Hawke and DA2, I laughed at this more than I should :P

I really don't think they are dead. Also, if bioware really re ally wanted to kill them then they would omit the 'likely' part, show us there lifeless body, and probably a funeral.

They'd also show him actually being struck down instead of whatever disjointed break dancing he tried to pull off as the Inquisitor was running for the rift.

For me, it wasn't a choice between Stroud and Hawke but rather a choice between the grey wardens and Hawke or to further simplify, DAO vs DA2. I didn't like the whole scenario anyway it reminded me too much of the Ashley, Kaiden choice on Virmire. It lacked originality like they were just recycling story lines and in fact I thought the same with Solas side quest it too. That one was like a watered down version of Garrus's loyalty mission in ME2 where you choose to let him shoot Sidonis or not.

I let Hawke die in one playthrough just to give her a tragic ending. Her life after the blight was ****. She lost nearly everyone that meant anything to her and the only thing she did w/ any meaning was to let an ancient evil loose upon the world. After being run out of Kirkwall, she becomes a lackey and dies in the fade. Kind of feel sorry for the poor girl. At least she had Isabella for a little while.

Why does Hawke even go to Weisshaupt? He's not a Warden.

Probably because the Warden was not fully voiced.

I think they should bring back the Warden for Weisshaupt, personally. Just have a character creator pop up like it did for Hawke in DA:I, with an option to choose between two voice actors per gender. (one British and one American/Canadian)

In regard of Alistair...

Although he is King now for 10 years, he is still a Warden, right?

Wouldn't the false "Call" have reached him, too?

Anyway, he must be in his 30s now... do I remember correctly that Wardens hardly become more than 35 because of the "correct" Call?

Yes, the taint stays with you until the bitter end. Alistair not hearing the call is odd as well since it was known from Origins that Alistair could sense the darkspawn and vice-versa. The two remaining Grey Wardens needed Morrigan's help to escape the Korcari Wilds. I didn't get that, either. Blackwall made sense later through the story. I thought the reason the Hero of Fereldan was unaffected because he was at Warden's Keep working with Avernus to find a cure for the taint. A lot more stuff didn't correlate with Origins.

Because... he's just wanting to get away? The Anderfels are pretty? What happened to the keep in Amaranthine and Warden's Keep? Someone connected to the wardens would be there.

I felt it too. I did like the side puzzles. Improved.
