This morning, my laptop was working fine as normal;. I was able to play the Mass effect games on it.Now I just turned it on again , logged in my username and password, and now i see a black screen witrh a movable cursor. Plus, the computer dosent normally load up slow. Something is definately wrong.

Its worth noting that I have downloaded the ME3 Explorer, and the Gibed Save Editors for Mass Effect 2 and 3. Would this have anything to do with it? I am starting to think that downloading these popular fan mods have viruses.

I was doing some searching and people say they can just unplug the adapter, take off the battery, and hold the power button for 30 to 60 seconds. This isnt working for me.

Did anyone else had this issue?

I am running a Windows 8.1 Laptop

ASUS Model

Intel Core i7

NIVIDA GEFORCE GTX 860M

Thanks.

Asus. Asus never changes.

There is 30% chance every Asus product you get is faulty.

It may be the graphic drivers problem on win 8.1 though.

Question: Do you use it like a sedan car on 7000 RPM (AKA fans were blowing 110 degree Celsius wind)?

Does the background say anything on it, like "Safe Mode?"

Also, what websites have you been frequenting?

Also, where did you get the editors? If they're tthe legit ones you wouldn't have viruses, but it's possible someone is using them to pass viruses off.

After 5-6 seconds system turns off if you do so. 30 to 60 seconds? That was a troll's advice! I hope your finger is still working!

Yes, you can say that. Overloading perhaps?

If your laptop is nice and cool does it reboot for you? Or do you still get a blackscreen?

Also, you may to see if you can boot using a different monitor. If so, then your screen is dead or the connection is loose.

I can't stress this enough. Many tend to forget that sometimes the screen is the issue and jump to other conclusions without eliminating the possibility.

If you can still see the cursor, the screen is not dead.

Just contact Asus' support and have them fix it. Or you can try fixing it yourself by reinstalling the OS with a recovery or Windows disc.
