So because it looks like a jumpsuit it must be a jumpsuit? nice logic , also in a universe were things like Heavy Skin Weave exist, you know that Synthetic fibers are woven through the skin to reduce damage, Miranda's uniform can't be used to protect her?

Everything is possible in Mass Effect (Don't ask me how Miranda avoids taking a shot to the cleavage, though)...but then I wonder why characters like Tela Vasir, Liara or adept!Shepard, who could mop the floor with Miranda biotically, have "normal" armor.

But as I've already said, I don't want Miranda or Jack to walk around in some armor of the kind Shepard is wearing. I mean, I'm not playing a simulator of future infantry battle...some iconic outfits are fine. The problem is that something like Miranda's white catsuit looks cheap and made for the lowest form of titillation (Enyala has it exactly right with her comment). Or Samara's outfit. I really like Samara...but I think Morinth's commando armor (which is feminine without being over the top) looks much better.

You continuously overlook the point and context of the entire thread. I.e. it "looks" ridiculous.

I guess you just can't grasp it.

That's funny considering Miranda wasn't mentioned until it was said that her uniform can't protect her not the look and you've been making a case for practicality for how many pages now? so which is it because you're flip flopping all over the place now.

Please, what chance does Liara stand againt Cerberus top operative? Against Vasir it would be a good fight though.

Vasir sure but Liara's a Glass cannon, Miranda would probably destroy her in a fight if only Bioware gave her a tech armor since both her and Kaiden are sentinels.

now you're just twisting it. Miranda is just one example of the overall problem. I've been talking about aesthetic since the jump. And my point the entire time was that it doesn't look practical, it looks ridiculous.

The only thing that looks off in Miranda costume is her... backside. Other than that the costume is very good for a urban environments.

And the stiletto heels.

And walking around in an outfit that tight can't possibly be comfortable.

So because it doesn't love practical to you means its not? if you're going to continue to talk about aesthetic please stop talking about it being practical, again this a universe were skin fibers alone can reduce damage by 50%

Comfort level might not be a factor that far in the future, though, for whatever headcanoned textile reasons. Doesn't seem to bother Shiala and other asari commandos, and there are oodles of garments that are uber-constricting on the top.

That actually looks like it would be effective in combat. Miranda....not so much. Her, Jack, Jacob, they just look out of place.

Maybe you should just acknowledge (no matter how you rationalize its practicality) that Bioware went with the skintight aesthetic for the sole purpose of sex appeal.

Sex appeal?

I agree about the functionality. That was more about the fact that skin-tight might not equal uncomfortable in this setting.

What about Samara? Her cleavage sticks out like a sore thumb

Really? Miranda would drop kick Liara to the next galaxy

Maybe.

But you can see Miranda's freaking navel in her black Cerberus outfit!

Skin-tight clothes can look cool and functional. I think the movie Prometheus is a good example for that. The environmental suits look great on men and women.

ME1 taught me that prominent and confident asari will, er, display their weaponry in likely battle scenarios. Samara didn't surprise me.

no thanks. I stand by my point. As do many others. It doesn't look practical. It looks ridiculous. Maybe you should just acknowledge (no matter how you rationalize its practicality) that Bioware went with the skintight aesthetic for the sole purpose of sex appeal.

Or you could just delude yourself of the obvious.

You ignore and dismiss anything that goes against what you're saying, so what else is new?

Ash in a real Alliance uniform would have looked amazing.  Why couldn't I requisition her a real uniform?

Like this?

Personally, I think the bangs and frilly ponytail aren't any better than the straight letdown hair.

Torn between agreeing with the OP that catsuits and heels in combat are ridiculous, while insisting on the use of a misogynist slur to highlight said point.

Booby McBoobytron Samara is also quite interesting in her design.

If you compare her gear to that of other Asari (powerful and mook alike) you'll notice her distinctive difference:

I wouldn't say Wrex had a "daddy issue" as much as his father simply demonstrated the problem he had with his people which was his actual issue.

EDIT: Well, this skipped a few pages while I was writing...
