1- The armour could have done with some improvements back then, you are right. For a military woman it is only logical to have her hair like that. Long hair is not allowed in the military. I believe the restriction for this (if i recall correctly) is having it in a bun so it can not fall into your eyes or get stuck.

2- Again, in combat this would prove horrible, tangles, hair stuck in armor or snagged on girders or enemies or guns. The armor was an upgrade but it seemed not to protect the cleavage area for some completely known reason.

I agree the hair isn't practical but regarding the Armor, I love at Ashley's default armor as her casual clothing, she wears it while not on duty as well similar to how James wears the T-shirt.

the Alternate Armor is what she wore on the Mars mission anyway.

there are probably people who like Allers or miss al-Jilani.

Bahahahaha... Jilani maybe, Allers Hell no, she's a waste of space that could have went to a returning crewmate, hell even Kelly deserved the spot.

There's a lot of gunfire on the beaches you visit?

If he is a Marine? B)

Sorry, I had to. :D

But, on the topic, yes. Less sexualization. I hate what they did to Ashley in ME3. Totally unfitting, considering that she is still a marine. No amount of "growing up" makes you want to look unformal when on duty. Especially since Ashley is now a CO, not NCO. Remember the grooming standards!

how does armor stop a Korgan from crushing you dude?!?!

The same way armor does in rl?  It might not stop something as big as a krogan, but it's better than standing there in nothing but a pair of thigh-highs and a smile.

Combat hard-suits use a dual-layer system to protect the wearer. The inner layer consists of fabric armor with kinetic padding. Areas that don't need to be flexible, such as the chest or shins, are reinforced with sheets of lightweight ablative ceramic.

The outer layer consists of automatically-generated kinetic barriers. Objects traveling above a certain speed will trigger the barrier's reflex system and be deflected, provided there is enough energy left in the shield's power cell.

Armored hard-suits are sealable to protect the wearer from extremes of temperature and atmosphere. Standard equipment includes an onboard mini-frame and a communications, navigation, and sensing suite. The mini-frame is designed to accept and display data from a weapon's smart targeting system to make it easier to locate and eliminate enemies.

  the fact that this is up for debate is hilarious. A firefight in your pajamas is idiotic no matter where it takes place. Space opera, fantasy or real life. It's plain and simply stupid.

I accepted Ashley's look in ME1 and ME2 but really disliked the change in ME3.

I always hated Miranda.

Same goes for Liara, but it looks like she got some worked done...

Tali'Zorah was cute as always.

Kaidan worked out, so what?

Vega looks like a ******, but I still enjoyed his company.

Who else was there?

Samara flashing her blueberries

Jack practically naked to the waist

Jacob wearing a spandex bodysuit

Kasumi's catsuit was at least somewhat undertandable, because she's a female thief, and all female thieves wear catsuits ;)

Thane, though LotSB tried to pin a medical explanation for why he's going around flashing his pillowy man bosoms :P

Yup. And the Shadow Broker was a giant Yahg. There are shields and barriers on armor as well.

Armor+shields > pajamas+shields. In any universe.

Yes, I would change the topic to a more neutral "provocative" or "sensual". Though I do believe this gets the message across.

The regulation is to have the hair, regardless of how long, tied in a bun or whatever with no lose strands of hair and to have it not touch the collar

Thank you.  :)

Depends Ashley and James are both soldiers but Ashley seems to be designed around Mobility while James is Durability.

Ashley would be akin to Nemesis or Phantoms (She has one of their armors as well) wearing light armors, while James wear Heavy Armors like the Centurions.

Agreed.

Agreed, but I always felt that the Miranda's outlook was part of the character.

Liara's look was pretty good. Not as over the top as Ashley's.

Tali'Zorah was cute as always.

Yeah, Quarian suit design has stayed good over the trilogy.

Kaidan worked out, so what?

Wait, people are hating Kaidan's look? WTF?

Vega looks like a ******, but I still enjoyed his company

Vega's a pretty standard looking fella. Only thing he's missing was a TactiCool beard.

Kelly Chambers! I really liked her!

Better than the toothbrush girl or the bald one.. I forgot their names.

As for the picture you linked, yes that looks good, though I do not know why it needs to be so anatomical. Would substance not come before style?

They are both Marines. Not some N7 SpecOps. Ashley's "armour" is pretty useless in a live-fire combat.

I was waiting for that to get posted lol. Anyways you're right that the armor protects vs temperatures and such, idk about fire and cold tho as you can get lit on fire and freeze blasted lol.  I'm not saying you're wrong about the amour, it does protect a little but still the weapon technology in the universe exceed the protections they have. IMO if wearing armor doesn't stop a hailstorm of bullets they why wear full out armor? I'd say f**k that too and wear light-medium armor, who would want to wear a heavy suite and sweat to death if it can't stop bullets? It helps in N7 missions I'm sure to be able to be resistant to radiation and such and the weather that the suit allows you to run in. I'm not saying soldiers need to be strippers either lol but no point in wearing full armor. I do know for a fact the military requires hair to be set a certain way, I'm sure Ash doesn't pass it and neither does shepard depending on which hairstyle you pick.

The Shadow Broker probably had skin as thick as an elephant's. Besides that he was carrying a huge shield that was impenetrable.

There are shields for most classes, the biotic ones have barriers. Shields come from the suit or omnitool I believe. The barrier comes from the biotic him/herself I believe. Feel free to correct me on this.

The logic behind the soldiers being so tough, being able to use all weapons/carry a lot and other soldiery stuff is that they have few abilities. They are the grunts, they rely on muscle. The other classes are more agile, they bruise more easily but they can protect themselves and attack with the tech and biotic tools they have. That is why they are not as strong.

Which might also explain why Vega is as built as he is. It irks me personally but then I suppose there will always be the little things.

Anyways you're right that the armor protects vs temperatures and such, idk about fire and cold tho as you can get lit on fire and freeze blasted lol.

I do not believe that is what they are for, they are for "sahara and antarctica" and not -200 or +200, even in the game I believe most organisms would perish rather quickly no matter the armour. Perhaps the krogan would last a while.

IMO if wearing armor doesn't stop a hailstorm of bullets they why wear full out armor? I'd say f**k that too and wear light-medium armor, who would want to wear a heavy suite and sweat to death if it can't stop bullets?

I once saw a video about some soldiers in Iraq during the war. The humvees they were issued were so crappy that they showed some of them welding steel plates on the doors.

When they asked them why they were doing that, the soldiers explained that the armour it came with was woefully inadequate. With the steel plates in place it still would not stop larger bullets or shrapnel, but at least then it would not tear up everything inside. Instead it would lodge in the first guy it struck..

The point being that even a little armour can make a difference. Perhaps not always or for everyone.

No armour will stop everything, does that mean you should not try to do the best you can? And while you are at it, should it not be your priority to stop bullets, stop your eyeballs from exploding in vacuum and keep you alive, rather than keep you stylish and sexy?

Did you not play Mass Effect 1? Ash can wear heavy armor. She's a soldier. Specifically a tank. She's not some space ninja akin to phantoms and nemesis', regardless of her alternate attire in ME3. Which is basically what this thread is all about. Combat attire went from being semi-practical in ME1, to the sequels where all practicality was thrown out the airlock in favor of form fitted T&A.

Kelly Chambers! I really liked her!

She wasn't bad. I didn't like that she was spying on Shepard

How is she better than Samantha Traynor?

Not sure who you mean 'the bald one'.  If you mean Jack, she wasn't bald. Her head was shaved

Yes she can wear a heavy armor just like how she can wear Armor in ME3 with a simple push of a button not buying entirely different ones.

and form fitting like the some of the so called heavy armors in ME1?

jbMxrem.png

Also ME3 Ashley is Sniper based, ME1 system was wonking and basically one size fits all regarding weapon style squadmates use.

I believe it would matter to you if I put a (tight but very very sexy) corset on you, then made you run a few miles kilometers.

I had to look it up, navigator Pressly!

I liked Jack, aside from the cheap and yes borderline slutty outfit and pretty much teaching at Grissom Academy in a wet t-shirt.

Traynor was good, I especially liked her in the Citadel DLC. The bri'ish accent was also nice. Who doesn't like those eh?

That's not correct. There were plenty of pratical armors in ME2 and ME3. It's true though that some character used clothes that were improper to hazardous environments and combat, and the breathing mark is a valid complain.

The problem is that ME1 armors gave little identity to the characters. They changed that with ME2 or ME3.

The form-fitting has a meaning. It applies mechanical counterpressure to allow operations in vacuum, and doesn't hinder the wearer, allowing better suitability for combat. And if you compare those suits, you see why one is heavy and one is light.

But Ashley is still a soldier. Even her abilities classify her as one.
