I have everything going for me too.

Going to school to be a dentist,

People I know and meet love me,

I get complimented on appearance by both men and women,

I'm very healthy,

and much more.

 

There is no color in my life. I've lived my life doing all the things I thought I was supposed to do and lost sight of what it is that I really want.

Last weekend I had a beautiful naked woman laying in my bed and I politely declined.

I'm very frustrated to say the least.

Yeah, this is actually a big problem for a lot of people. Myself included. People pursue things because they think they're supposed to without considering why they're pursuing it.

 

A wise woman once said that we as people need to reconsider what it means to be successful. The best way to do that is to question what success is to you. Why do you want to be a doctor? A dentist? Why do you want to live away from your parents? Why do you want this much money? Why do you want this car? Why do you want that job over this one?

Maybe you have spent all of this time thinking the shallow qualities are what will gain you happiness.  Maybe at the end, what you perceived as happiness was only artificial and what you truly want is to find meaning. Maybe at the end of the day, you are living for others while leaving the most important person out of the equation. Yourself. Being happy with yourself is the first step.
