You know you have a bad Divine when she opens up the prisethood to races it was already open to, must be early onset Alzheimer's

Or BioWare couldn't keep track of their own story. :P I get the feeling Leliana will literally spread the Chant of Light to all four corners of Thedas, and try to convert everyone to Andrastian though.

Use facts to support your arguments. Or just show love for the Cassandra and Vivienne. The only Divine VIctorias worth mentioning.

Leliana is hands down the best Divine. When you compare to Cassandra and Vivienne, Leliana is the only one that brings stability for the mages. The Bright hand under the Inquisition is described as "the representation of the very best of the mages of Thedas". while with Cassandra it causes an inner conflict of mages and Vivienne is outright denied by the mages, and her response is all too predictable. You really should stop of being so afraid of change Knight. Stagnation bring us nothing.

I know a lot of people think there should be limits on mage freedom. I'm not going to rehash that whole argument here, but I disagree with you. If you think as I do that there shouldn't be limits on the rights of mages, Leliana is the way to go.

I'd say that the difference is that the mages aren't under Chantry control when Leliana dissolves the Circles; it's not as though the mages can violate the law without consequence.

But it wasn't. Low clergy was perhaps open (sisters/brothers though I'm not sure to what extent as some brothers/sisters aren't really taking vows) but not priesthood: that is Mothers and up.
That's also why priesthood is for women only, even though there are brothers in the chantry - they're just not priests.

Appeasement doesn't work in the long run, so how is Leliana appeasing the best thing possible? And DKR is not conservative. Like at all.

Really, the only downside to picking Cass as Divine is the relationship complications.

I assume that is the reason the relationship issues exist. Much like ME3's Destroy ending, the Developers had to throw something in Cass's Divine ending to keep it from being the only choice anyone ever made. The other two have bad things built in, with Viv being 'Divine Vader', crazy angry Lel being 'Divine Vlad the Impaler', and crazy happy Lel being 'Divine Shattered Suspension of Disbelief'.

I look forward to the reformation of the original spirit of the Inquisition during Divine Leliana's reign. Where common men and women take justice into their own hands when it comes to dealing with mages, and the mages come running back to the Chantry for protection because they're being wiped out by angry mobs.

She's also insane and can't decide if she'd rather open a nug shelter or murder any and everyone that stands in her way.

You say that like it isn't normal. Only instead, puppies. Because puppies.

No, you don't get it! She'll open a nug shelter murdering everyone that stands in her way. Nugs are IMPORTANT. Nobody will stop the project of greatest nug shelter EVER!

Says you. Can you predict the future? All we have is short term responses here, and so far divine Leliana caused the best responses. And how is supporting the old system that is arcaic and flawed not being conservative? When an system is broken, you don't reform it, you break it down and start over. Because when you walk backwards, you are more likely to hit an wall.

This argument is entirely subjective, and ultimately comes down to an individuals personal opinions on what is "good" or "bad" for Thedas. Everyone is right and everyone is wrong.

Besides, I doubt anyone is going to be converted to another side in the argument. This is BSN after all.

This is why we have multiple endings not only one ending. So, you can decide what is the best and suit your ideal.

I don't need a time machine. History already happened for me to know how appeasement ends.

Again, no one's going to kill anyone as long as they're appeased, but as soon as that stops, they'll take what they want by force. But I'm sure the mages will be the first to break the mold. I mean they didn't even in this game, but I'm sure they will because hey, I can't see the future.

Because he doesn't support the old system and neither does Cassandra. Believe it or not, there are more than two positions, and one extreme isn't better than the other. They both are terrible.

Not to be mistaken, I like the fact that making Cass Divine complicates a romantic relationship with the Inquisitor.  It actually makes a lot of sense given the nature of the position and Cassandra's adherence to tradition.

It's really quite the opposite to the obviously deliberate and arbitrary attempt to make ME3's Destroy ending less appealing.

History also shows how support towards religions to meddle in non religious affair ends. Especially during medieval times.

No one likes an pessimist. Either way, unless you're proven right by sequels, all you have is an prediction.

And I say it's not terrible. Some times fools won't accept change because they are too stuck on their confort zone, and then they hold others back with them. If they can't leave on their own, they need to be kicked out. Moderate reform is only an minor set back before the conservatives undo them.

compared to modern ideas about division of church and state sure, but the two were much more intertwined .  Kings derived their authority from God not by consensus of their subjects

Not really. All kingdoms derived authority from religions. In a way, a lot of them still do whether we like it or not. The same families that have always ruled are still impower for a reason, whether they are elected is one thing. Wealth doesn't die, however. Not truly.

Sort of like your own opinion. It isn't pessimistic to think logically. Nihilistic, maybe? Pessimistic? No. What it definitely is, is idiotic. Who ignores history to feel better about themselves? A leader that won't last long or be remembered.

Guess what? It doesn't matter what you think. It matters what the whole thinks, and contrary to whatever Disney program taught you how to think, people don't like radical sudden change. It never works. It never has. Leliana could be the first, I'd have no way of knowing, but it wouldn't be because anybody wanted said change to happen. It's because she forced them to accept it, and in the end there's nothing anyone can say that will convince people who weren't already to believe that view is right.

Leliana is a DAO companion which, by default, makes her superior to those other two DAI companions!

And then the kingdoms use the religion to commit unspeakable acts and feel totally justified about it. Or are we going to say the spanish Inquisition was an simple misunderstanding?

We'll see about that. I can last pretty long if I just kill and dominate anyone that get's in my way. It was done by Tevinter, by the chantry, the Qunari, and guess what? They're all still standing.

How weird, I'm pretty sure Disney haves nothing to do with the way I see things. They're more about hand holding, while I'm more about cutting heads off. Way more permanent solution you know? Either way, radical change does work. What the hell do you think it was when Drakon founded the Chantry and forced it's views on all of Thedas by his wars of expansion? You think that's not radical? You just can't accept the reality of the situation.

You're still applying a standard of behavior to rulers and institutions that had no inkling to separation of Church and State

to use your example, the Spanish Inquisition was carried out by both "secular" and "religious" figures because the two weren't that separate at the time

What Steelcan said. I really don't get what's so hard about this. Switch out Jesus for dollars, bloodlines, and land. Same results. It has nothing to do with blindly following religion.

Well as long as you're admitting to being a complete and total hypocrite whatever. What was that about religion doing horrible things?

Change takes time. You cutting off everyone's head will just lead to you getting your own removed. Drakon didn't force his views onto Thedas. He was able to gradually convince the people to accept his views as right, while at the same time removing all opposing opinions. Leliana saying, "**** it," and removing the entire system won't change anything, especially not when she's gone.

I'm not an hypocrite. I would be one if I used violence for my personal benefit, wich is what the old Chantry does. But no, I use it to change things for the better. People don't accept it, so they need to be eliminated before the become an problem. Religion is all about control of the masses, and guess what? Humans are dumb. I'm just trying to set the course to an more productive one, whatever it takes.

Oh, I'm sure all the people killed in the war of expansion were very accepting when they denied the maker. I'm sure Leliana will have many people convinced by her changes. Just because she kills the problematic ones, doesn't mean she kills all. And I beg to differ, she can change the entire system so long as she manages to change everyone view points before she dies. There will come an day when people just start to give in and accept what Leliana does.

In my eyes, Leliana deserves peace, not more agitation, even if it would likely entertain her at times. But my Mahariel, she also romanced her and i wanted them to be happy. I did not see that happening if she was Divine, so yes... a bit of an out of character extra reason there. :)

I think Cass would do well enough, as long as she would have somebody trustworthy as spymaster or advisor, or what you'd like to call it. She absolutely needs a shield from the shadows. I am also one-hundred percent sure that Vivienne is the worst choice, because... conservatives really aren't needed at that point to make things right.
