When Charlamange was around, the actual Romans spoke Greek.
they spoke Greek, were christian, and accepted barbarians into their ranks

The Byzantines aren't Romans anymore than anyone else was. If they were they wouldn't have lost half their empire in a single generation. Who loses half of Europe that quickly?
they just finished a knock down war with tehe Persians, not their fault the Arabians started pouring out a few years later
So, how is it she immediately shuts up when you tell her the elf is willing to testify after that display of smug "lol, can't touch me. lololol"?
Because threatening Briala that you have an elf who will claim that she was set up to die because she knew about Briala's affair with Celene would be detrimental to her standing with the elven network she has set up? So far, you haven't actually provided anything to show that Briala "eagerly" sent anyone to their death.

Hey, Belisarius was a boss.
Hey, Belisarius was a boss.
yes, but he wasn't really a "roman"
the real Roman Empire died with Julian the Apostate

Rome would have found a way. The Greeks aren't Roman. They only had my sympathies during the Fourth Crusade.
****** Venetians. They always find a way to screw you over.
There's an elf who's been sent to her death because she knew about her and Celene.
There's also an elf who may have been set up by the Duchess to turn the Inquisitor against Briala. The same elf, in fact.
One of the things about the Ball is that the player comes across a lot of convenient 'clues' that seem to paint someone in a damning light. The Gaspard Dagger is the biggest one, clearly intended to put the PC against Gaspard (who would thus be delegitimized after the assassination), but it is possible that the elf wasa a false-flag operation as well. The convenient rescue by the PC from the same sort of Harlequin that planted the dagger (rather than her being, well, quickly killed) comes at just the right time to help divide the Inquisitor from one of the few people who may potentially be able to reveal the truth about the Duchess's conspiracy. If sentiment and resuling animosity is used to poison the well between the Inquisition and Briala, or the truth leaked to destroy Briala's pwoer base, then the Duchess's plan is stronger.
It certainly would be within her power. Her agents can move across the palace, and the directions to go to the room at a certain time were left in a dead-drop. We don't truly know it was Briala- that was just an assumption that the elf made because there was an obvious motive. But in the Game the truth is less important than the accusation, and what's important isn't 'Briala tried to kill the elf servant' as much as it is 'Briala slept with Celene while the alienage burned.' Since that is true, and no one would believe (or care) if Briala denied the overall charge, there's no real reason to expect Briala to reject it either.
I'm not saying that Briala definitely didn't do it- just that it is possible that the Duchess did it as a way to target Briala.

Whatever I say, or anyone else says, you're just gonna ignore it.
Can't have your frail and precious elves slandered now, can we?
so who else saw the dagger with the Chalons crest and immediately knew Gaspard was innocent?
*raises hand*
Far too easy.
so who else saw the dagger with the Chalons crest and immediately knew Gaspard was innocent?
Only after I read the note on the dagger that said, "obvious setup."

Florianne must've had a very low opinion concerning the inquisitor's intelligence.
Florianne must've had a very low opinion concerning the inquisitor's intelligence.
Considering how the Inquisitor dressed for a ball, could you blame her?
they could have a tad more subtle, I mean ripping a plot line right out of GoT and making it so obvious.....
Florianne must've had a very low opinion concerning the inquisitor's intelligence.
Well, he is the Grand Duke de Chalon.
In real life, it would be damning evidence. But everyone expects the first clue to be a set up.
Considering how the Inquisitor dressed for a ball, could you blame her?
Her dress was tacky. And that haircut...
Florianne was a rather poor player once the inquisitor showed up.
Leaving a body in full display in the middle of a garden. Accosting the inquisitor and shifting the blame towards Gaspard.
She was in such a rush.
And am I the only one who thought everyone's priorities were rather skewed, what with that fade rift open and demons?
Demons in the courtyard? Let's have a party everyone.

I liked the military outfit.... ![]()

Which makes her presentable by Orlesian standards.

That kitschy outfit needed to be set on fire.
It was all in her head. Just like getting away with it was in her head. And Corypheus' promise as well.
All these dumb ideas must've been weighting hard. Probably why she cut her hair that way. She needed her head cleared out.

So if I put Gaspard as Brialas puppet make the Dalish Keeper leader if Wycombe plus a Dalish Inqusitor on top of an Elven HOF I can set the stage for elves rising. Yes I know now that Inqusition is out people don't pity the elves but I'm looking forward to this
Add this to helping Fiona (an elf) help the mages (elves have an affinity for magic), and it looks like the Time of the Elves is nigh. ![]()
