Well I'm not surprised of the elf dislike but I feel elves will have to play a major role.

Surely as hive mind antagonists, of which the pc will indiscriminately mow down for the glory of Andraste. Bonus points if they are Dalish.

Plenty of fodder for their god-tyrants once Solas screws things up for everyone, I'm sure.

That one sound plausible, I mean - Solas screwing everything up for everyone. AGAIN.

Somebody should really smack that guy real hard - I mean, he wants to help The People... But then he despises:

 - Dalish for clinging to their heavily distorted vision of history and not reacting well to a stranger that comes and says "everything you believe in is wrong, now listen to me, I'm smarter than you"

 - city elves for... hell if I know, he just never bothered to even try and speak to them (at least that's something your elf quizzy can actually call him out on)

 - ancient elves for clinging to their past rather than trying to restore it (due to lack of power to do so)

One has to wonder - where exactly are those People our beloved Solas wants to help since the quizzy can be literally the only living elf Solas has any respect for? It seems like this guy will just f*ck the world over in some misguided, doomed and absolutely destructive attempt at turning the clock back to restore what once was. It would be pretty much Corypheus 2.0, making about as much sense as that guy trying to restore Tevinter...

People of age 1000+ really should consider retiring. Some of them could even get the girl in the process...

I nearly spit my drink at that one  . As much I like Solas, I couldn't have said it better regarding his opinions on the elves.

As for the original subject, I would really like on option to make things better for the elves (I'm a big fan of the elves) but i think the best option for them would be to find a new land to start over(something like the dales, but a bit further from the human countries to avoid another conflict)as impossible as it may sound, because I don't think humans will ever accept them, too much bad blood and fundamental differences.

@Eliastion

It's like not only the elven pantheon is stuck in a mirror or whatever, but also a bunch of unlucky bunch who accidently got suck in along with them.

Dude, make up your mind. No wonder his entire plan the first time was a big fail. And the second time...A third time will be a disaster.

Typical elven "let me feel sorry for myself" attitude.

If they want power they need to seize it, maintain it and build alliances/diplomatic skills

Attainment of power is underway after the events of Inquisition...Maintaining and building upon it would be a welcome change in the usual narrative as it concerns the elves. Let the City Elves handle diplomacy, as no one knows the disgusting human Andrastians better.

All assuming that Bioware does not do the predictable thing a take a giant wrecking ball to Briala, Solas, the Elf Inquisitor, and anything with pointy ears in future DLC/games.

I don't expect a wrecking ball, I expect something worse - they'll just be ignored/handwaved. "Yeah, yeah, it's happening somewhere out there".

no, screwing up is universal, complaining about it for several centuries later though is more in line with elves

Nah, I've never seen anybody screw up on so grand a scale as the elves. Even Orzammar can still take back a thaig or two every few centuries.

don't defile the good name of the Noldor by comparing them to those louts from Thedas

This is already foreshadowed if Briala rules Orlais through Gaspard.

As for Solas, I already smell the f***-up in the air.  T'is inevitable.

EDIT: Never mind, the f***-up already happened.  The game is centered around us cleaning up the mess caused by Professor Egghead.

I must say I would gladly see some variation there, like a clan or two focusing less on Chantry ethnic cleansing of Dales and more on how their ancestors kicked ass in historical rather than legendary/mythical times... I mean, it's sad that Chantry likes to speak about how the Exalted March rolled through Dales, Dalish like to speak about how they were indiscriminately slaughtered by evil humans - and both sides tend to omit the small detail of Exalted March being actually the last-resort gamble by the Chantry to try and turn the tide of Orlesian-Dalish war by throwing full weight of religious authority behind the losing party...

But I guess that's a part of narration nobody likes too much. "We lost Val Royeaux to some wild barbarians worshipping their false gods" doesn't sound too good. And "we're the victims of evil Orlais/Chantry" loses some of its punch when followed by an "oh, and we captured their capital somewhere along the way".

Not that it's the first time. "Tevinter destroyed ancient Elvhenan" also sounds more satisfying for everyone than "Well, Elvhenan blew itself up in magical nuclear war and then Tevinter scavanged what was left"

And then re-loose them in a few weeks.
Honestly it's only a matter of time before the darkspawn will push the dwarfs into the surface, nobody outside of them take the darkspawn seriously during the long period between the blights, and now with the Disciples  this cannot end well.
