First of all i absolutely love all the bioware games to date! and i have personally bought every single one of them, now to the question.

My main desktop computer has basically broken down so i have been forced to use my laptop for the time being, ME1 worked perfectly on the lowest graphics and on 640x480 screen resolution so i picked up ME2 but to my dissapointment no option for 640x480 resolution was in the options menu and there was barely any visual options to lower so the game lags.

Can anyone tell me if there is any way to lower the resolution or to lower some visual options?

I do not know why bioware would take away a resolution option anyway.

I'm from NZ also mate, but I can't help you. I always play games at 640x480 to get smooth framerate, and I would like to know this answer also.

Edit: Ok you can do this by manually changing the res settings in gamersettings.ini. It should be in your documents/bioware/mass effect 2/biogame/config folder. Unfortunately, while improving framerate, it will make text VERY difficult to decipher.

I'm having trouble with the fact that my computer has intel. For windows 7, i did what guo said but nothing changed. my screen didn't go to 640x480. is config folder gamer settings? cause i changed resolution to 640x480 and the x and y too but nothing happened.

There is far more to do in order to get Intel's Smoke and Mirrors tricks to work in every game. Intel just won't follow the video standards, and anyone expecting real game support from Intel is doomed to disappointment. You won't be able to convince ME-1 to do anything with an Intel tinker toy video chip, but you should eventually be able to get ME-2 to "sort of" work on an Intel solution.

I certainly wouldn't consider the result at all encouraging, though.
