Whenever someone talks about sexual orientation, there is always a bunch of people who immediately rush to such threads.

And guess what their age group usually is...

Yep. The people who've never got laid talking about sex.

It's almost not worth responding to you since you seem to be living in a weird fantasy world.  I regularly chat in PM with many of the people who respond to discussions about sexual orientation.  I'm talking about 20 or so regulars in these threads.  I know about about their personal lives.  With the exception of one or two of them, they are all almost all adults over college age.  Most are married adults in their late 20's through early 50's.  Some have children.  Some have grandchildren.  But, please, continue to call us virgins as if that means anything.  I literally LOL'd when I read your post because of how silly it is on several levels.

You know, the definition of a spinster is an old virgin.

Religious bigots don't like sex that much too...which doesn't prevent them from talking a lot about it between themselves as well.................so, what was your point?

So your thesis here is that the majority of the people who post about sexual orientation are virgins, even if they are married and have children/grandchildren?

No, really, continue down this logic path.  I'm following with baited breath.

My point is that bigotry and political correctness seem to have changed sides these last few years.

Let's agree to disagree.

I will say this:  The extremes of both sides of this argument make the rest of us look like crazy people.  On both sides.

Using earth’s numbers, in any group of 5 people the probability is that there would be no gays. So, if the Inquisitioner is gay that would take the percentage of gays attending the war room way above nature’s average. And if the Inquisitioner is not gay, she is probably not even considering that gays are not represented. But it’s not clear to me what that has to do with anything as it relates to the game. Since gay acceptance is a general given in the game the need for representation is not an issue. It’s not like Thedas needs a bias to a sexual preference. In fact I have 2 daughters and hope both are straight. The likely hood of finding a good mate increases as the numbers of available partners does and choosing from 95% of the male population seems a lot more productive then choosing from 5% of the female population. That said, I can think of no reason I would even consider a persons sexual preference when disusing the destruction of an evil that is trying to destroy the world.

Regardless of the real intent of this thread, I find I do enjoy reading the posts. If you are going to bait someone or get serious it just seems so right that it be over something as trivial as this.

It really bugs me that there are no cat people in this DA. In DA: Origins we have Sten that's a cat person in DA:2 we have Anders with Sir-Pounce-A-Lot and what do we get in DA:Inquisition?? Black wall.. A dog person. This is unjust!

:D  :D

The two are fundamentally different though. Political correctness says that choosing to say some things/do some things is wrong. Bigotry is thinking that people are wrong for something they had no choice in.

Just hope that they are happy and healthy.  If they are lesbians, it will work out for them if you just accept and love them regardless.  5% of the female population is still a huge number.  If you love and support them and let them know that this holds true regardless of their sexuality, then they will be well adjusted gals and will have no problem finding a partner out of the ~200 million lesbians out there!

Precisely my point. I even wrote on another thread that gay people are as discriminating as heteros. People are the same everywhere. Gays are not holier or special. They'll defend whatever suits their selfish interests.

The problem is that there are some people on the Forum who tend to engage in every thread involving sexual orientation. Those people are constantly trying to force their skewed views on everyone else.

If you check every thread where there's been an argument over love and sex in the game, you see a lot of insulting and disrespect toward those that want more decent male romance options or who don't want bisexuality forced on every character.

They have turned the Forum into their own private playground and are forcibly trying to make people change the way they think regarding hetero romance. In their view, it's offensive to be hetero. Just check the evolution of the threads.

So they coerce anyone who doesn't share their "revolutionary" ideas about the subject. As if they were imbued with the divine right of censoring anyone on the Forum. They aren't.

This is no longer a heathy debate over sexual orientation. It's indoctrination, pure and simple. It's a few people misusing the Forum to coerce others and try to reeducate people on how they should think.

I don't think Bioware meant for its Fourm to become a place for indoctrination of any sort. This is supposed to be a meeting place for fans to share their experience and exchange ideas. If a handful of people are being stupid on purpose and intimidating others, then worse for them.

I hope the admins are keeping an eye on this. Soon enough, the mere mention of someone not wanting a character to be gay or bisexual or pansexual or whatever will be met with hostility by a handful of fanatics.

Hey, since you like to treat the forums like academic discussions, want to provide evidence to support your claim that posters are trying to indoctrinate people into thinking that it's offensive to be heterosexual?  I'll be waiting here until you come back with evidence of this.

Love that movie.

Oh my god. What's a future Bioware not gonna be like if Bioware starts pleasing minorities any more than they already do. Imagine Mass Effect 6: every scene has at least one character of each sexuality in them, and there needs to be at least one plug for trangenderism in a main mission, two gay themed companion quests and a city where only bisexual nudists live.
Bioware is already pleasing crowds waaaaaaaay too much IMO. Good with some homosexual representation - really anything that reflects our society as it can contribute to making the story more insightful, but it not if it cheapens the fiction or lore. Dorian was on the verge of being too much of an immersion breaker.
Game of Thrones sold me better on how it treated its gay characters. It's low fantasy and has a lot of medieval symmetries, you know, back when gay could make one's death justified. Honestly that's how I prefer medieval fantasies. Not because I'm anti gay, but because I think it makes it more authentic.

Bioware would never be able to finish a game with the amount of labels people put themselves under.

Why are people so much more fascinatyed by sexual orientation than the storyline or gameplay?

Because anything that does not equal a bun in the oven, is still considered highly taboo.

Damn, I wish that included me, I could really stand to have the 10s of thousands I paid in child support back. Think you can make that happen by telling the courts that I'm a virgin? The flip side to your straw man may indeed be that some people either don't see the need for yet another advisor in the war room, when simply rolling a gay Inquisitor would fill the bill, or are simply tired of "OMG, there weren't any (insert FotM label here) represented, we have to get out the pitchforks and start up the bonfires".

The premise of this thread is flawed, because the perceived "missing" role can be filled by the Inquisitor.

Well, to be fair, the premise of the thread is flawed because it's a troll thread.  Just look at the OP's other posts and it's easy to see that this was created to mock people asking for representation.  It's just one that was apparently done well enough to fool a bunch of people into thinking the OP was serious.

It was kinda fun while I could keep him trying to justify his position. I think he ran out of gas though.

A lot of people seem to like the taste of troll bait, at least when it gives them a chance to say 'see, you let The Gays have representation in BioWare games and now they'll never be happy until there's a gay character in every room!!!!11!'

That's the part that's unsettling to me.  I am not happy to see how quickly people jumped all over this thread, practically salivating to make this point.  And I'm sure that we are going to be hearing about it for weeks to come.  "I mean, the SJWs are so ridiculous that they were seriously complaining about not be represented at the war table!!!1!!"   Conveniently forgetting that it was actually a troll.  Barf.

I think you're probably right :( . I feel like we should create some kind of 'that was actually a troll' macro to save time later.

Oh my God no. This thread is like a cross between Fox news and The Daily Show. Eliminating it by disclaimer will only bring out the really crazy people.
