Also, Josie is totally antivan!

That's racist. Some of my best friends have vans.

Oh my god. What's a future Bioware not gonna be like if Bioware starts pleasing minorities any more than they already do. Imagine Mass Effect 6: every scene has at least one character of each sexuality in them, and there needs to be at least one plug for trangenderism in a main mission, two gay themed companion quests and a city where only bisexual nudists live.

Bioware is already pleasing crowds waaaaaaaay too much IMO. Good with some homosexual representation - really anything that reflects our society as it can contribute to making the story more insightful, but it not if it cheapens the fiction or lore. Dorian was on the verge of being too much of an immersion breaker.

Game of Thrones sold me better on how it treated its gay characters. It's low fantasy and has a lot of medieval symmetries, you know, back when gay could make one's death justified. Honestly that's how I prefer medieval fantasies. Not because I'm anti gay, but because I think it makes it more authentic.

True and truer. I'd much prefer rich, developed interesting characters then the same gay angst storylines. Cliches should not be something BioWARE aspires to.

Plainly, the war table is missing a half asian, half indian, trans woman with a handicap. Get on that Bioware!

I just wanted to add that I think the whole point with sexual orientation in Thedas is not that it is like the medieval ages - it is a place where it is taken less seriously than in our world. And that to me is extremely refreshing. It's -we- as players who get hung up on it more, in my opinion. :)

Seriously? Bioware has been very inclusive when it comes to minorities, and as a minority myself I am very satisfied with the way that they handled it in their games. I don't want a minority to be shoved into a role just so they can tick off a checkbox and go "yep, filled our <insert race/orientation> quota for this game". I'd rather they do it in a way that makes sense for both the story and the character, otherwise it just feels tacked on which is what you seem to be asking for. It's a good thing the writers seem to agree with that. When people were trying to make Cassandra, or Ashley from ME bisexual the writers stated that wasn't a fit for the character. Even Gaider himself in a conference a couple weeks ago said they don't go "lets make this person gay, or this person straight, or this person bi". They write the character and choose something that fits what they've written for that character.

Apparently there's a lot of gay "representation" all over the War Table if you romance Iron Bull as a man.

Must every...single tiny little thing in these games boil down to representation issues? For goodness sakes people, you can't start a topic without it SOMEHOW moving in that direction. It is getting so damn annoying to come to these threads and overly sensitive people getting offended for every minor thing that they view as damaging to whatever group they represent. No more! Stop! Just stop! Stop turning everything into an issue of sexuality or Gender equality Or any other kind of equality. Bioware is head of the curb on these manners and as a result Shouldn't be badgered every single day about these issues. Go to Ubisoft! Activision! Anywhere else! Just leave Bioware alone! They won't forget, so stop reminding them, these forums are burnt on on these issues. It's annoying. Stop with the " I am part on *Insert group here* and I would like Bioware to offer representation to us." It's not like we get hundreds of those kinds of threads every other week.

Eww...I laid my sandwich on that table. Ewwwww.

Call me bigot, racist, homophobe. When I play a game I want to just play a game. I just want to stab people, loot their crap and be a cool hero. Does the guy I stab have to be a trans Therian African-Eskimo? Nope, I just want him to have cool loot to grab. Does my companion have to be bi pansexual albino midget vegan? No, they just have to make me look good.

Anyway, until people like are included in a game there is no justice.

the problem is that sometimes there is no way of knowing if it's a troll, or just another tumblr aberration, which sometimes decide show up here. (and by aberration, I mean, to the completely out of touch with reality people that permeate tumblr)

Cullen is also a transvestite.

I see exactly what you mean. The answer is yes, but only in imaginationland. Surprising elements in DA:I are often some of the most defining elements of the game, like surrpsise because surprise help make game good to enjoy. If game good, then game is better.SO it make perfect sense that the game is this way. Therefore Cullen is the masculine figure of the trinity of disciples of the herald of Andraste.  This makes him part of the Maker's will and therefore holy since he is associated with the Herald.

So this coincides with your post and with the holiness of super manliness of Cullen.

Let me explain: when you first played DA:O you chose an origin and first went to Ostagar and  most likely did not see Cullen. If you did you see he looked mostly the same. In DA 2, he also look mostly the same. It's pretty clear that Cullen is aging, but doesn't precisely look older. This is because Cullen is vampire. Far-fetched, you say? Not at all considering that vampire ninjas often jumped from teh roofs in DA 2 during the night in Kirkwall. Therefore Cullen is in fact a vampire with a penchant for dressing fashionably, much akin to Dracula. But if he is vampire, then he must also be a ninja since Dragon Age 2 was an incredibly realistic game much like real life, at least more so than Origins since Origins had dwarves and elves as a playable race. We know dwarves actually exist, but elves don't except as manual labor for Santa Claus.

This means he is also a ninja and a vampire.

SInce he is also a templar, or was a templar and is struggling with his addiction to lyrium this can only mean one thing: The above is also to be included with this fact. He leads your military, so he is a tactician.

Therefore, it all makes sense. Cullen is a manly holy vampiric transvestite ninja templar tactician.

You see. Cullen is amazing.

This thread is going places. Mostly not good places.

Funny how this 'concerned' OP was singing another tune over in another thread.

But then again bigots do love to fake SJWs posts so other bigots can have a field day and pretend they aren't nasty little people.

Seriously, if anyone actually read that and their first reaction was a knee jerking "damn those diversity SJW types!" then you need to take some time out of your life and do some self reflection.

Tryhards gonna try real hard. That is their nature. Alas, today is not the day they succeed.

This type of thread is proof that Bioware and indeed the gaming community in general, should take a leaf out of the metal music community and not pander or give a single f**k to politically correct social justice whining nonsense.

I have to admit that one of my favorite things about DA:I was diversity. The War Table was the place where the leaders of inquisition gathered. At the core of Inquisition were five people:

Cassandra: White female, straight
Liliana: White female, bi
Josephine: Indian female, bi
Morrigan: White, straight
Cullen: White, straight

Besides a representative of the african american descend, who is missing? A gay person. I think for a game that is constantly praised for being all inclusive, emitting a gay leader is quite a shame. I'm sincerely hoping that BioWare will resolve this concern through a patch or a DLC.

Dorian? Sera? It seems you forgot those two in pratucilar

This is just silly. Games don't need a checklist to include every single type of person on earth. Besides, this game has awesome gay characters. I personally love Sera even though some find her annoying. She lightens the mood in any group and she's cute and fun. Dorian is amazing - handsome, witty, and all around a good character to romance or just have as a good friend. If games had to start including somebody from every background, things would become stale. It would just be a checklist - "yep here's the token disabled/gay/straight/bi/Indian/Arab/Jewish/Irish/one-eyed/hearing-hearing impaired/cross-dressing/transgendered/pan sexual/asexual/religious/atheist person. Instead they should focus on creating great solid characters with strong identities, which they have clearly done in my opinion. As long as they're not all exactly the same it's fine by me.
