I concur with this thread title.  The war room is far too somber and depressing.  Needs more gaiety  and mirth!  Sadly, this is not a new problem, but rather an age old one.  Even President Muffley had to deal with it.

EDIT:  Wait...  did the OP mean gay as in homosexual or gay as in happy?!  Curse this language and its changing word meanings!  Now I'm confused.

Dear OP, I accept your opinion but I believe bi-erasure is just as bad as homosexuality-erasure. I am gay male and I'm not offended by the presence of Leliana and Josephine as your advisers.

To be honest i found sickening how people now are defined into gays, straight, liberals, white and blacks. People should be defined for what they do for how they behave. We speak of Dorian because is gay and not because is a smart and charming character, people define Cassandra because is not lesbian and bash on Sera because she is. I'm really tired of this quotas discussions. Let's respect people for what they are and do, instead of dividing humanity into pointless groups that will inevitably create conflicts. Peace

That is a fantastic ideal situation.  And if I could wiggle my nose, a la Samantha on Bewitched, and make it happen, I would.

It's not the real world though.  Because of hundreds of years of socio-political events, some groups of people consistently receive less representation than others and, if they don't make a case for themselves, it goes unnoticed (at best) or noticed but disregarded (at worst).  The only way that change happens in situations like is to bring attention to it.  It's that way globally and historically.  It's not a new concept.  It just feels new because it's around modern ideals and a fairly recent (~40 years) entertainment medium.

I have to admit that one of my favorite things about DA:I was diversity. The War Table was the place where the leaders of inquisition gathered. At the core of Inquisition were five people:

Cassandra: White female, straight

Liliana: White female, bi

Josephine: Indian female, bi

Morrigan: White, straight

Cullen: White, straight

Besides a representative of the african american descend, who is missing? A gay person. I think for a game that is constantly praised for being all inclusive, emitting a gay leader is quite a shame. I'm sincerely hoping that BioWare will resolve this concern through a patch or a DLC.

Ok first of all Josephine is not Indian, she is Antivan, which is based on Italy from the Middle Ages. You weren't even close.

Second of all, this thread is just ridiculous. There are plenty of gay and bisexual characters throughout the game. Celene was obviously either bisexual, or homosexual, due to her relationship with Briala. There are tons of bisexual leaders anyway, why do we need a leader (or even character, for that matter) of each racial + sexual orientation + gender combination? We don't. That'd be far too many characters and would result in poor character development, which at the moment is one of BioWare's strengths in writing.

I agree. Dorian is intelligent and funny, but most people won't experience any of his character development because they can't look past his sexuality. People see Cassandra as too tough, and will never be able to observe her amazing leadership qualities and her faith that drives her actions. People will never see the good side of Sera because they're too ignorant to look past her sexuality like they do with Dorian as well.

Why can't things be different? Why can't Sera be referred to as "the fun prankster", not the "annoying lesbian"; why can't Dorian be the "wise mage", not the "flamboyant homosexual"; why can't Cassandra be the "faithful leader" and not the "masculine female"?

It's really sad that people can't see the good side of these characters because they are too busy defining them based on sexuality.

I agree with you. But people bash Sera lesbian. I think everyone hate Sera because she stupid ignorant brat who cry if she don't get candy. I like Dorian because he is charming and funny, and don't care who he f... so I don't like his story arc. I like Sera story arc it's not focus on who she sleep with, but I really don't like character. I love Carver best brother who disagree all the time, but Sera argh.

Who are saying these things? is there alot of evidence people think like this, or are you just throwing out assumptions?

Dorian is my favourite character in this game, sera is annoying only because her quirkiness seems too artificial to me.

I dont recall them stating their sexuality, or much at all (i remember sera hinting).

As for the OP and others, I'm sick of this supposed "equality" we need. If you really saw beyond race and sexuality you wouldn't see a room and point out if they are all straight, or all male, or all white etc. Perhaps one day people can just look into a room and see a room of people.

Speaking as a bald person, I'd like to see representation at the war table for the follicly challenged.

Everyone at the war table (personal choice of Inquisitor excluded) has lovely hair (said with bitterness)....

There are plenty of bald characters in Dragon Age, Solas, Iron Bull, and Vivienne's not far off, so to
not have representation when there are clearly available characters tantalisingly and deliberately held back
is an affront quite frankly.

But defining people by their sexuality and ideologies is defining them by what they do or how they behave.

Also Dorian is charming sassy guy #32. His type is starting to grow old. And Sera is an annoying child that needs to be put down. Hue.
