Note that all faction armor, this one included, has no upgrade slots. So it's a lot less flexible in its stat build. Still, it looks pretty awesome IMO. It's Tier 3, so despite the lack of upgrade slots, it's still usable by your Dwarven Warrior, or as mentioned above, rogue with the "remove class restriction" metal.

I used Veridium for the main metal, so you see where the color changes (green). The other mat choices don't affect color.

There is also the Carta Coat, medium armor. I have it on Varric and it's not my favorite armor ever, but it's not bad, and YMMV. If you want Varric to actually protect his vital organs instead of showing off his chest hair
.
I chose gawdawful clashing colors so it's clear what changes. The main leather choice is the purple. There's a mistake made in the other mat mappings. It's the Cloth choice that changes the color of the other obviously leather bits (the bright yellow). Nothing changes the color of the actual cloth, and the other Leather choice doesn't change anything. Also, it's Tier 2, so you won't be using it for very long. Oh well.

I hope this helps some. (By the way, most crafted armor is not human-only, so I suspect you've just had some bad luck with drops.)
