So, I did a quick search in the forum, and couldn't find a thread that presented this for discussion, so I decided to open one myself. I apologize if this has been discussed before.

So, the game presents us with depictions of all the members of the members of the elven pantheon, first in the Temple of Mythal (in the shape of mosaics), but also a few of them pop up elsewhere. And I could not help notice, that all of them had one feature in common (other than the fact that they look a bit like illithids) - they are all bald!

Here they are:

And then, of course there's this guy:

Spoiler

The use of this baldness in the mosaics is obviously anticipatory, hinting at the post-game revelation of the spoiler above. However, do you think it might have an additional meaning?

Solas is bald because of the mystical curse of Frostbite 3, not because the elven pantheon had a "no hair policy".You can see how Bioware planned to give him hair in the concept art but then frostbite 3 was like:"NOPE, NO HAIR!".

It might just be a style of mosaic, but on the other hand Sylasie has hair...Or flower extensions, whatever.

. . . are we trying to imply that Solas is actually all of those gods? I suppose it might be possible. Perhaps the scene at the end is merely him reabsorbing part of himself that he gave to another, rather than absorbing another individual. It's all quite vague and complicated though. I hope the people at Bioware have an explanation for what that was, and it wasn't done to just confuse the crap out of all of us and they didn't really know where they were going with it.

No... I don't think he is all of them... I don't see Solas doing drag in his spare time. However, I found it curious that this is a very visible common feature for all the elven gods.

It is entirely possible that the decision to "strip" the other elven gods of hair came after Solas was made bald. Also, even if Frostbite is not good with hair, why would Solas pose more trouble than any other character hair-wise?

They also don't have a mouth or nose, it's just an ancient elven art style of depicting gods. Unless they're all secretly ant people of course.

You will notice that the beings in the cave art found everywhere didn't have hair either but most definitely the ears.   I suppose it depends on exactly what the ancient elves were.    Abelas and the Sentinals don't seem to have hair either.    May be it is linked to long life (Zathrian was bald too) and your hair just naturally falls out after so many centuries.  We were all speculating as to a special significance to baldness when we saw Solas but sadly no lore was forthcoming.    The depictions of the elven gods in the mosaics is weird; they look more like alien lifeforms and lends credence to my own personal theory which is that they were spirits that gradually became more complex and took on material form (like Cole) but because they had nothing to base their form on and had no knowledge of hair, that is why they are bald.  If all elves were then children of these "gods" this could explain how over time they lost their immortality, as they got further away from the original source and also why only elf to elf matings result in another elf because you need the spark of the divine in both parents.   That's the best I've been able to come up with anyway.     I dare say when the truth is revealed it will be nothing like this.

That's actually very interesting when you remember how someone in the comics (Yavana, I think) talked about how in the past the veil between the mortal world and the Fade were one.

Most of the characters have super short hair if they're not bald/shaved as well. With Solas they can use the reason of "he's a scruffy mountain hobo and doesn't care about hair/shaved it for hygiene purposes, etc..." it makes much less sense for say Josephine or Morrigan to be bald.

On a side note, those mosaics look like scary cartoon mice.

I'm usually all for "Give the hair" part but honestly it could be just me but fourth version of Solas in first row seems best  and most attractive one to me and that version of him is pretty much shaved as well!

I guess Vivienne is a secret Elven God too!

Its probably nothing beyond the fact that Frostbite 3 sucks for anything that's not a Mr. Clean shaved head look in the hair department.
