At least it's not another buzz cut.

And it has a little armoring on top, too. :)

EDIT: Long hair would be nice, though I can understand that it could be problematic. But still, even styles like these would have been so nice...

they could put a salon in val rayoux  I know I prob spelled it wrong but it could be like the black mirrior in the dlc from DA2 and allow us to change the look of our inquisitor post game start so it wouldn't be available right away but for those half way through a play threw its open and the hairstyle's would be readily available for new play threw via character creation

Just going to borrow this as reference ^.^

There's a ton of threads on this, so I'm gonna guess that Bioware is at least aware of our wants ^.^ I'd love to see some of the old styles re imagined for Inquisition....there were some nice ones in Origins and DAII. Can we see those again? I'm okay with the hair not moving a whole lot. I figure hair physics is kind of tough to toss in, particularly at this stage. I'd love to see more braided styles. I feel like the ones they put in their character models from a while back would be really nice. They don't look insanely masculine/feminine (if one of Bioware's goals is to avoid hairs that lean one side or the other), and I wouldn't think they'd have major issues in terms of clipping (given that the length is about the same as their current longest hair). As for female dwarf's braid...when the armor seems to have room for something of that size. It just tucks into the collar nicely.

I can see how male Qunari might run into issues with longer hair (my Adaar has a tendency to clip into his heavy armor collar), but I still think a few more varieties could be implemented without too much trouble. Is there a reason the hair can't go around the horns in a regular, loose style? Particularly if they don't have to worry about hair physics. But I've never created hair models before, so I'm kind of just running my mouth.

More hairs please Bioware :)

Whilst I do agree with you to a point I think they've already done half the job already with adding it in for the trees and clothes so I would imagine it'll be possible to add this to the hair as well.Whether itit's because of engine or console limitations I can't say but I'd imagine given what they have done I think it is possible. Obviously I don't expect thenm to add it to Inquistion given the game and all that is out now. I do think it'll be possible to do it for the next Dragon Age possibly even for the next Mass Effect given it'll also be usi9ng this engine. We'll just have to wait and see how things progress

I don't know about the whole gender neutral thing. A lot of these hairstyles are clearly designed for male characters specifically and they've just been tacked on for females. It's obvious - some have sideburns and male-pattern baldness. Why not have some more feminine hairstyles that male characters can use also. Long, braided hair looks good on male elves. -_-

I am going to keep asking this question until Bioware coughs up some answers: What the hell ever happened to THESE hairstyles? The ones they had ready to preview, you know, a year ago?

I want these hairstyles so bad. :( It's not like they have be super long and clip, but at least these a quality look and a uniqueness about them. We need more braided hairstyles for sure.

yeah nice ones they are I especially like Number 3. I'm guessing that because the game was on last gen as well as this gen was why they didn't add the wind to the hair though as I'm pretty suer the new XB1/PS4 and PC versions could have handled it. Hard to tell for certain though

My favorite is number 1, the dark brown hair. I would probably pay myself sick to get that into the game. I can just imagine it blond on my elf. But yeah, number three is also very, very nice. I wouldn't even need the hair movement, just the styles.

I just wish BW would actually do something because even now, I would really need an option to change hair or put a completely new one on in game. I put the braided hair on my elf, despite the bad clipping through her ears. I thought I could ignore it because the hair itself is nice. I was wrong. The clipping is seriously starting to get on my nerves, especially since I record clips and cutscenes. I'm also well past Skyhold again, so I'm not going to start over, especially not after the time I spent on creating my elf's face.

Another thing I've noticed is how big the forehead appear in DAI with most of the hairstyles!!! is quite scary.

Yeah I was thinking of playing as an elf for my next playthrough of DAI when I do it. Did a human for my first inquisitor. Mostly because I found some armours late on I'd have liked to use but they were Elf limited so being human I couldn't use them.

I just wonder why BW changed the braided model slightly from NPC to inquisitor. Scout Harding has the same hair but with her the hair goes along the sides of her head. Now, when put on inquisitor, the same hair model has the sides of the hair going outwards, instead of along the head. This causes the clipping through the ears and it's bad. And no, I'm not going to lower the ears because they don't belong halfway down along her jaw.

I'm guessing it's because of the ears given Harding is a Dwarf who have similar ears to humans really whereas elves have pointed ears. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that it's just the way it is.

Yes.  Please can we have a wider variety of hairstyles and beards?  The beards still don't fit the face properly on PS4.  It's the only part of Character Creation that really falls behind.

It has nothing to do with ears. You can clearly see the diffenrence in the two hairs fom the pics. The inquiitor version has the side parts going outwards. The NPC model does not have those exactly the same parts, which would otherwice be flowing over Hardings ears instead of through them because she has human ears. If BW just would've made the hair on the sides go closer/along the head, raising the ears wouldn't be a problem. The only way to use this specific hair is to leave the ears way too low, at least for my taste.

Yessh, more ,pretty, feminine(or hairy male ) hair, please! Says a female player!

And devs by the way I love the the game , really appreciate your work, I just hope you also hear us on these areas that feel a bit unfinished in this huuuge game :)

Cause the female hair...is the same as male hair. Even up to the shaved low sideburns were most "real life" women  have none = in a panic feels her sideburns...uh...eh,relief , none, not even shaved ones  there in my case :P

I  played "Kingdoms of Amalur" today, an " old"  game that went bankrup and was sold to EA some time ago, funny that I allways tought that game had too much "unisex" armors for female player vs.the player being forced to hang out with a hot skimpy dressed chick....

But the hair, the female, feminine looking hair options that game has are a legion compared to DAI - and all of those hairstyles are very " old graphics",non physiqued, still  non clips with armor kind of hairs. Like the vanilla Skyrim hairs shown in this thread earlier.

Clipping should not be an issue- just the will to make some feminine hair ! People (men or women) wanting to play female chars should not be left to take "leftovers" of male char designs, and making some really goodlloking  feminine designs (hair, or armor variety as well)  available for  not only the companions, but the player, might even be a huge boost for future sales for both male and female player base ;)

Better hair would be awesome... I'm hoping it's something they can work into the game. I'm not crazy about long, flowing hair on a battlefield, but couldn't we at least have had Morrigan's and Josephine's styles to pick from? Pretty and feminine for those of us that like to roll that way, yet pulled up and battle appropriate. As it is, I can only stomach ONE hairstyle for my inquisitors.

Some hair look better on different races, have  you tried this hairstyle on the dwarf?

Even on Harding though the hairline is masculine, all hairstyles that show hairline sport a masculine hairline, every single one of them.

Not just more hair options, but more beard options! You either have a full, thick, bushy beard or no beard all. Is there not some middle ground between 5 o'clock shadow and full on Santa Clause?

And why did they do away with some of the better hairstyles from the other games (i.e. spiked up in the front like Alistair in DAO)

They spent so much time creating these large explorable regions, but shorted us on hairstyle variety...

I miss the Origins styles. My elf wanted the bob with little pigtails but no luck. Maybe for the next game they'll go all out with hairstyles? Also, I hated the horrible clipping in my hair when a certain elf was casting a spell on my face. That whole scene had funny clipping though. :] Great selection in terms of hair colors...better than Mass Effect anyway.

I do not mind clipping on a nice style... I do mind clipping when the style is hideous and it still clips. :)

The problem with the hairstyles is not that the mayority is short. But is mostly bald or definitely designed for males, with balding patch, and enormous forehead.

More than anything, I'd like to know what made the developer choose those hairstyles, and if they have even thought about the female styles. Because if the hairs where to be unisex from the start, than there would not have been balding patch. (I love Krem, but my characters are female from birth and not women in a men body or viceversa, with all the respect)

I don't mind the short hairstyles, but I would of liked some traditionally feminine ones, maybe something with braids? Or a medium length hairstyle that frames the face, or a curly ponytail? Something besides receding hairlines and shaved heads.

Better eyebrows would be amazing too!
