I don't want to do anything because I feel nothing. Going through the motions because I don't know what else to do. Slightly grumpy that I have to put effort into moving and doing these things.

How do I care about the little things? I don't care what I have to do as long as I'm happy.

Stop whining about your petty problems to strangers on the Internet and man up.

Have you ever considered joining the French Foreign Legion? It might do wonders for your outlook.

Commit suicide. If reincarnation is real you'll get another shot.

You're projecting again. You might want to stop that.

Get a puppy, grow attached to it slowly and then have something bad happen to it. Voila, you care about something.

Did it hurt your petty feelings? I'm sorry I didn't know you were so sensitive.

Oh, I'm not. Why be worried about me? This thread is about you and what others think about you and your emotional well being.

Stick to worrying about yourself. You're getting good at it. A few more threads and you should be totally self-absorbed.

Therapy.

That. Assuming you are being serious, OP. Mind, you should not strive for happiness. Happiness is fleeting. Better to aim for contentment. Every person will inevitably go through an emotional low. What is important is finding a good balance where you are mostly satisfied with where you are and where you are going.

There is no shortcut to finding that. It takes lots of reflection, critical thinking, and being honest with yourself about your goals and desires.

You have to truly want it, and you need to sacrifice for it. Nothing changes, nothing changes.

Burn all your cash and become a hobo. That should make you care about the next meal you can buy.

Seven daily steps for seven days to get out of a funk.

1. Eat a salad every day. And not this bullshirt iceberg lettuce that's basically watery grass - get some real dark green leaves, like spinach or kale.

2. Set your timer for fifteen minutes. Close your eyes - don't open them until the timer goes off. Think of the things that frustrate, aggravate and agitate you and take a deep breath - REALLY deep, so deep it stretches out your ribs, that you feel your lungs can't fit anymore, all while focusing intently on those things that set you off. Then, breathe out, focusing on NOTHING but emptying out your lungs, with no other thoughts. Empty them until they are empty, until it burns a little in your chest. Then repeat breathing in deep, thinking of stressful things, etc., until the timer goes off.

3. Don't eat a burger, sandwich, burrito, pizza taco, fries, chips of any type of fried chicken (nuggets, fingers, tenders, etc.) all week. This isn't a health thing - there's a world of cuisine out there that we ignore in favor of these things. Eat a sashimi roll or injera and lentils... even to just say you know for sure you don't like injera and lentils.

4. Get a stranger or distant acquaintance to say no to you on purpose once a day. Seek out rejection from strangers on purpose all seven days. You'd be blown away how liberating that can be when we spend so much of our life seeking approval and avoiding rejection. Please - don't be lewd or ridiculous. Asking someone to give you a lap dance or a million dollars is not going to be something a total stranger might even remotely say yes to, so you gain nothing from doing this.

5. Run, full sprint, as absolutely fast as you can, for a mile/half mile/quarter mile (whatever it takes to completely wipe you). No jogging, no running... full on sprint.

6. These next two require you to pay attention much more closely to your own thoughts and emotions. First, when you start to feel like life has no focus or meaning and/or you get easily ticked off or upset, stop and evaluate what set you off. Was it looking at your apartment and realize you need to clean? Did someone make a comment you blew out of proportion? Did you not do your best at work/school and instead blow something off? Were you just hungry? Pay attention and trace your emotions back to the stimulus and the stimulus back to your thoughts and figure out what you were thinking - what you were REALLY thinking when it happened. And try and figure out when you start having those types of thoughts and realize you don't want to feel this way and instead try and process that same stimulus in a different way.

7. Seven is a lot like six, but in reverse. Next time you notice you are feeling good, or something catches your interest, or you hear a song and it rocks your world - pay attention. What did it make you think? What excitement did it ignite? These things are the core to making you passionate. It may be the guide you need to find ultimate purpose/your dream job/whatever, but more realistically, it will help you capture what makes you happy, even during the mundane activities of life. Find a way to plug yourself into that positive part of yourself and you are one step closer from being on the path to being the happiest person you know.

Seven things to do for seven days. It won't change your life or make you euphoric with joy, but it IS a good exercise and always helps me get out of a funk if I'm ever in one.

Watch Star Wars. The original trilogy, not the prequels . That will only make you more depressed. Also play video games. Plus looks for good books to read. That's the kind of things I do when I'm in a funk. It may seem small to you but it helps me.
