Elves never lived forever. You know why? Because they *dont* live forever. Beings that live forever dont STOP living forever. Its kind of covered by that "forever" bit.
I dont doubt they were adapt at manipulating their lifespans through magic, but the idea that they were "tainted" by humans is probably part in parcel as to why they got their asses whupped into submission (by whom exactly is up for historical debate).
Look, i dont know how much clearer i can make this point but if you failed to pick up on the fact that a lot of dragon age involves coming to your own conclusions in how the writing is done, then thats your issue not mine. I for one however have a less flattering view of elves.
Oh and that part about spirits and gods? Spirits arent viewed as creators. The elven gods are, to the elves at least. I view that as an outright falsehood. Just like with the maker.
Holy **** dude, your semantics argument does you no credit. They did live forever, as in no aging, then later this ability left them. Not a hard concept to grasp. Whether they were effected by humans or not I'm not sure. I think this left them when the fade and the world split apart.
They kicked their own asses by the way, that's pretty much fact at this point. And no, dragon age is not about coming up with your own conclusions. You can, until the game says no, you're wrong, this is how it is. And that's what they did with what you are saying. They told you that you were wrong, and you simply can't let go of your false truths because of butthurt about elven lore.
And how you view things is irrelevant, really. Not much better than Sera yelling "LALALALALA! IT ISN'T REAL!" And god himself in my religion is called the father, the son, and the holy spirit. This isn't a new concept.
Do I think Solas is a spirit though? No. My point was that what you are doing is holding on to semantics to ignore what is presented because of Bias. He is an immensely powerful being, or was at least. One that split the world into the veil and Thedas, and sealed all the other gods, old gods and the elven, and somehow that makes him not worthy of being considered one?
Not everyone holds to the christian idea of a god. Your view is NOT superior.
