so guys and gals of the ME team, I had a dream last night about Mass Effect. I haven't played the game in about a year but this just kind of sprung up on me, but essentially here's the dream. They find Shepard and Anderson's body. (I personally had a strong war effort resources, and Shepard lives) Still they take Shepard who is now in coma, Miranda who was a Cerberus Op is now working on restoring him as she did in 2. A few years later Shepard wakes up Miranda greets him and renews his memory of what happened, and explains where they are at, a section of the citadel that had broken off. (one of the pillars that form the crucible) The races are still rebuilding on it, and a few of the mass relays had been rebuilt but not all. This limits interstellar transport between galaxies but makes it possible. Due to the importance of the Normandy they were recovered from the jungle planet, and a few were sent on their way. Wrex and grunt went back to Tuchanka, and others were waiting on the commander to come back. Tali, Joker, EdE, Ashley/Kaiden,Javik and Garrus of course. Garrus has become a member of the Citadel security again, and tali along with EdE and Joker have been patiently waiting for Shepard to return to the helm as commander. The first night back Shepard takes his love interest out to eat at night and they catch up, then the next day something tells you to visit the police station. Sure enough Garrus is there and he grabs you in a big hug and says he'll be right out. He takes you on a motorbike ride which is more like a T-Rex then an actual Motorcycle. You guys go out and shoot, when you come back to the middle of the new citadel someone runs to you and says the council wishes to speak with you. So you go the the central comm area in the citadel, its a giant circular aread lines with comm booths. Shepard gets on one and dials the council. They thank Shepard, You have done a great service for us, defeating the reapers and making life safe again. We just have one small thing to say, we have a new mission, and you're going to need a crew. I awoke after this but this seems like a great way to put Shepard back on the map instead of opening a new series with a new character. Thanks for reading, John.

But anyways, I would prefer BIoWare distance themselves from the original trilogy I think a massive time jump is in order. I think it would be cool if there is a codex entry about Shepard and a sort of reverence about him or her in the same way that there is with the rest of the history of the universe.

I agree Hats.A huge milestone to shepard and the backdrop set up with the choices made.Or BW takes a poll from the community and uses that as the build and gos from there to create the new Universe for the Mass effect franchise.or......
to the OP....they come up with a new Idea/IP and boom instant fame is earned again

I am all in favour of rebuilding the universe (lore etc), and have it far enough a head in time that it is believable. All I really need is some codex entries about my Shepard describing his exploits but if they want to keep it generic and vague I'd be cool with that too.

That would work very well and see no real issues why they couldnt do that.
i would love the game to be linear far as story gos.im tired of the "choices" we're promised and only handful of people liking them and everybody else not.there still can be events/choices just tailor them more towards the personal aspect of each characters interaction with the character you play as

Yeah, the problem with choices in a continuing franchise like this is that they are almost always going to be meaningless. Because it is just not feasible to account for the decisions everyone has made. I still like the illusion of choice though at least in each specific game, I'm not a fan of the import stuff though. I like how The Witcher does it, you are free to play that game how you like but at the end of the day there is a canon.

Actually I think ME4 should be a mixture between a non-mmo World of Warcraft, Mass Effect, DA:O, DA:I and Borderlands. /Impossible

If they were smart, they'd just pretend that the original trilogy didn't happen at all - a new set of Mass Effect games in the same universe, but where neither the Reapers nor Shephard or his crew ever existed.

Or just set it between the 2 years of Shepard's death.
The galaxy is around the size of Sen's penis (inside joke) and that's pretty damn big.
I'm sure letting the Rachni live or whatever else Shepard did in ME1 can be... you know, ignored during whatever we'd do at that time.
Pretty sure gamers will scream bloody murder for that.
But from my year away from gaming I've come to see a lot of gamers as being unreasonably stupid.
Not you Jimmy.
You're awesome.

No, I'm about as unreasonably unintelligent as they get. I'm just pretty good at hiding the crazy.

That's basically what I want though. Its not like they would have to go that far ahead (even just a hundred years or so) for the events of the trilogy to lose a lot of there significance for the people within the universe. Just give the Reapers and Shepard a few codex entries, maybe a memorial or something, not much. I don't really like the idea of pretending none of that happened.

I agree. The original trilogy has set itself to be very awkward to continue. The universe itself is still salvageable and is still ripe with opportunity. Not to mention that there aren't that many sci-fi games out there right now.

For Destroy, maybe. For Control or Synthesis? I don't see how that can fade into the background in a few hundred years. The Reapers are immortal, living millions and millions of years and in both cases, the entire fleet is still intact. How can the Galaxy just sweep that under the rug?

Well yeah, nothing can be done about Synthesis. LOL. Other than ignoring it that is. You could make Destroy canon or even Control. Just have the Reapers leave and not come back or my personal favourite they all committed suicide into a nearby Star.

Sure, a canon would work. But they don't have the spine to do that.

Meanwhile I'll be scrolling past single player and heading straight to multiplayer.
