Actually there is something else I find curious in this thread:

Why is that everybody assumes when I make a female character I immediately want to bang her?

Very true, though I wouldn't limit the question to only female characters.

After having explored the cc's complexions extensively I can say that it doesn't help that there are only very few female complexions that show any kind of age at all.

Females have a total of 15 complexions, divided in three sets of 5, divided by "clear", "freckled", and "ruddy". Only six of those have any hint of wrinkles at all, and only 3 have readily noticeable age. Qunari females are an exception, they have 16 different complexions that don't seem to be organized much at all, and there are only 4 that are flawless, with a much greater range of wrinkles available - they are the only females that can truly look older and grizzled.

The males have 24 complexions, also divided in three sets - "regular", "freckled", and "regular with 5 o'clock shadow", 8 to each set. In these sets not a single one is quite as clear and flawless as the females' complexions, every one has at least some minor forehead lines. Of all of these, 6 can be said to be truly youthful. All the others have clearly visible age, and in a much greater range than the female complexions, except the Qunari female. As with the females, Qunari are an exception, since they, like the Qunari females, also have 16 complexions that are a hodgepodge of different things, with roughly the same distribution of youth and age. A second exception among the males is the elves, who also have 16 complexions, but this is because they are missing the "5 o'clock shadow" set.

So, the TLDR version is that because of the complexions, it's just very hard in general to make females look older. (And inversely, it's hard to make a teenage looking male.) Couple this with the generally rounded faces that female elves tend to have in this iteration, and young looking elves are almost unavoidable.

It's a single player game. What does it matter what someone else's protagonist looks like?

Neither of the characters you posted looked in their early or mid teens, I'd say early to mid 20's for the first and for the second one 18-20. Just look at their neck & face structure. I don't know how you see them as 13 year old girls but to each their own. It's a matter of perspective. I'll be the first to admit, the first you linked does look attractive to me, but she looks early-mid 20's. Hell, the second one is attractive too.

Everyone has their own perspective on what age their characters look and what they find attractive. Then again, I'm a 19-year old guy, maybe my perspective on age and attraction will change as I get older. Who knows, maybe when I'm 30-40 years old I'll see them as 13 year olds too, but in my current state of mind neither of them look any younger than 18.

I like my female elves to be cutesy looking, but I don't think any of them look 13. I'm 31, and I tried to make my first lady elf (the one in my avatar atm) look close-ish to that age. Not sure if I succeeded, but I usually do tend to give all my lady elves rounded faces and am also partial to freckles and red hair; I have a few freckles (more if I've been in the sun a lot), but I don't have red hair and always kind of wished that I did. LOL. For my male elves, I tend to go for the more angular type faces, though my first male elf has really fat cheeks from certain angles (I just can't get away from rounded cheeks apparently). ^^;

Because they are elves, dammit. They have to look like they're on the verge of frolicking at all times.

Because it is wrong to create a scandalously beautiful woman that some random person might find too young and too attractive which forces him to save the pictures on his computer for later.

I think it depends on taste and what you like I think. When I think of a female hero I tend to think of someone like Buffy or the Charmed sister witches from the Charmed series as they frequently put their lives on the line and did what it took to defeat the evil they faced I'm in my mid 30's (36) 37 this year and I still find a younger look more attractive when it comes to playing the Hero which is why I generally go that way with my characters when I create them.

Yeah, I don't usually tend to go any older looks-wise than middle age, and I generally stay in 20s-30s range...though I did consider trying to make a badass granny inquisitor because I really like Flemeth. I've never actually tried it, though, because no character I created would be as awesome as Flemeth. LOL.

So, just because I can, I've attempted to create an as old looking as possible female elf with the far right "childlike" round face shape. I've used the ninth complexion here (the most wrinkled one, with freckles). I think it's mixed success, it really depends on the light she's in how old she looks.

This is pretty alright:

OldElfquiz3.jpg OldElfquiz1.jpg

But here she starts looking younger:

OldElfquiz4.jpg OldElfquiz2.jpg

And I swear this is still the same character:

OldElfquiz5.jpg

And then there's this one who has the fourth complexion (same wrinkles as the ninth, but no freckles):

NotOldElf1.jpg

Hardly see any of it there.

So, in the end, even elves that don't look young often look young.

I think elves in general are supposed to be more youthful (Legolas didn't look 100+ in LotR), and Bioware elves aren't much different (smaller body size, frame, whatever). Naturally, this makes elf characters look younger than qunari.

Because it is wrong to create a scandalously beautiful woman that some random person might find too young and too attractive which forces him to save the pictures on his computer for later.

Ok, I'm just going to mention the elephant in the room: if you describe 12 year old looking girls as "scandalously beautiful" then you start to look like a creepy pedophile

Who cares?  It's a single player game.  People are free to create their characters however they see fit.  It's no one's business.

Why?  I find this Thread intreasting
Of course that this is a single player game but no I'm interested in seeing a debate and everyone points of view even if i do not agree with them.
I believe that your answer is very safe and at the same time pretty much can nullify the functions of any debates on the BSN .
When peoples play a game like the one of the DA franchise, every decision that they make has a meaning especially the creation of their
characters.
So with your answer i can also pretty much nullify every Thread and debate in the BSN with the simple statement "IT's no one business".... then tell me why are we here? What kind of debate can be made with the It's no one business thing?

The OP would flip his **** if he ever played Dragons Dogma, a game where you can actually play a man, woman, little boy or girl avatar if you're so inclined.

Of course, it's japanese

I think that is just the way people make them. You can make them look more mature.

I think mine look like adults. Young maybe, but adults.

I don't think complexion has much to do with the "13 year old girl" look. A clearer complexion can make a woman look younger, but it doesn't make her look childish. That's all face shape and disproportionately large eyes. I made Eva here using the far-left complexion setting and I think she still looks to be around 20.

Elves may just look younger. I'm 21 and get mistaken for 16 because I have a baby face.

Well as long as you don't make your character look like yourself, you're not a pedophile!

I think this is the youngest-looking picture, TBH. Lighting can make all the difference.

I do not know the age of most of you guys so if you are 11-16 then perhaps you may find that stuff attractive, but by looking at threads and people posting their female elfs, the vast majority of them look....adolescent. Again, if that is your thing that that is your own business. However, it just seems like people always go with the furthest left option under the complexion tab in CC which normally results in the most "youthful" looks. I like to dab further into the complexion options to create more "mature" looking women that are in their mid-30s at minimal. Hell, for my next character a female mage elf, I will give her a bit of an aging appearance to make her look like she is at least in her 40s.

So yeah, is western society that anti-aging/anti-older women that people are willing for their female characters to appear like they are in the 7th grade?
