Moderator of /r/pcmasterrace here. I find your comment offensive. I prefer to a wide classy selection of women.

Maybe they have watched too much anime and assume that all world saving heroes must be high school aged.

I have cut myself, so I know I have red blood.  I've seen my birth certificate, so I know I'm American.  I know I'm male too but we won't get into that.......

Turns out I've been doing it wrong for 36 years because I have zero interest in younger women.  Thanks for informing me!

There was some study somewhere stating men universally preferred younger women but i dont think women necessarily implied 13 year old anime girls with purple eyes.

Here is my dalish elven woman. How old does she look to you?

Dragon%20Agetrade_%20Inquisition_2015012

Don't know, don't care, she looks amazing.
I don't discriminate by age, women can be beautiful no matter how old she is.

And OP, i don't want to sound aggressive, but what kind of question is that? You ask why people they make elfs look young, then answer it by saying that it is their own business, then you say you are 29 and like mature women, not youthful looking ones.
I am confused what is your point?

EDIT:
Also if you look origins elf mage is First to the Keeper, and they are usually young apprentices, so again, even from gameplay/lore perspective, you are way off base.

What a strange (if not slightly disturbing) thread.

However young the dalish elves may look to shemlen,

every single dalish Inquisitor is indisputably 'of age' because they all sport valleslin.

It is curious.

I have to admit that I usually regard that particular taste with some suspicion. I can think of a few less dubious possibilities though:

Perhaps a combination of fairly pedestrian fetishistic notions of youth combined with a strong tradition of child-like elves in folk tradition?

Or perhaps an unconscious (and largely innocuous) vestige of ye olde world paternalistic traditions, in which females were largely infantilized, explains (to an extent) the tendency after-the-fact to still regard child-like facial proportions in women as desirable?

It's easy enough to simply say tastes vary,...but there *is* usually a reason people like what they do:p

Actually there is something else I find curious in this thread:

Why is that everybody assumes when I make a female character I immediately want to bang her?

IMHO, it's kinda hard to make an older-looking Dalish woman.

I intentionally tried to create a more "mature" female elf, but, depending on the lighting, she still tends to look young.

Because sometimes it is unintentionally.

Because sometimes they do not notice it.

Because sometimes not everyone wants to go back and forth from character creation to first cutscene and so only slightly alter a preset.

Because sometimes people just do not care because their character neither acts nor sounds like they are that age.

Because sometimes the complexion slider add additional make-up that looks out of place.

Because sometimes a character is just that white hence the selection of complexion.

Because sometimes it's not all tied to some ageist sentiment nor because of some fetishism.

Because sometimes they don't and the way you see a character is not the way they see said character.

Feel free to pick a "because", there are more than just these ones so you can take two if you like.

Additionally, OP, you sound like you have already made up your mind on why people do it so I question why you made a thread on it.

Because why else would you, an assumed adult heterosexual male, ever want to play as a woman if not to lust after her and undress her with your eyes?

As we all know, it's scientifically impossible for a man to have any other interest in a woman whatsoever other than sexually. I would know, I've seen Tumblr and Jezebel polls.

Well not to spin my own thread off topic, but dealing with complexions is something that I have noticed going all the way back to Mass Effect 1. From all three Mass Effect titles, and all three DA titles, I have noticed that the created males all have varied looks. Soom look young, some look older, some look like D&G Models, and some look like grizzled veterans. Then with the females they are either super models or young looking. You see VERY few older female Shepards/Hawks/Inquisitors/Wardens and you see VERY few grizzled female Shepards/Hawks/Inquisitors/Wardens, despite the fact that the lore could totally be legit for such characters who have a "hardened" look.

Like I said, I think a lot of it has to do with out society views beauty in terms of women. With men, they can still be very sexy and be sex symbols in their 40s, 50s and even 60s. With women, that is normally reserved for the 20 somethings and 30 somethings. Yeah, society today at least does recognize the sexy nature of women in their 40s and up, but not as nearly at the same rate they do men. Also men of any age could have a "grizzled" look and still be sexy but let a female have that and they are too masculine. Just look at some of the reasons why people decided not to romance Cassandra.

With all that being said, I believe that is the reason why in terms of videogame RPGs, a majority of the women that players create have "youthful" appearances to them whereas the men have everything from youthful from all grey haired man with scars and wrinkles.

My bf always makes the oldest, grossest men in RPGs. Its pretty funny, especially when the romances come along...

Or maybe the backstory I have in mind for this particular character involves her being young (though I'd argue none of the characters here look like they're 13...).

Oh wait, that's not allowed, because it's always about sex, isn't it? Apologies, I forget that it's scientifically proven that everything we do with female player-made characters has something to do with that.

I think that if you try really, really hard to paint one side as potential pedophiles (and don't say you're not, it's painfully obvious), that maybe you're the one with issues.

Its just that nobody has yet to explain why younger girl Inquisitors (Under 18) is something they enjoy. Again, if you are under 18 then it makes sense, but if you're an adult, then it is weird. The only responses I have gotten is "well its their game...."

Kinda makes me wonder about this community if people think it is okay to show interest in adolescent females if you're an adult male because hey.....everyone has their preferences right?

(to Majestic Jazz) It might be because everyone made their character to look like they were thirteen and younger. You might think and say that they look that age but that does not mean everyone else does.

Also OP, that is not the only response you have gotten and by each comment you make, I'm becoming less inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you are not intentionally trying to see things that are not there and are not heavily implying pedophilia or the acceptance of such by the forums.

I'm also going to give you a bit of a advice and mention that this is the sort of thread that gives you a warning by the moderators. If you are genuinely interested in a discussion, you might want to rephrase a lot including your opening post to make it less accusive. It'll also do more to invite people to respond as it'll lessen the chances they'll think you are a troll.
