In all seriousness OP, you're being ridiculous.

As many have stated before, even if the elves did look like 13 year olds there are great stories about 13 year old children and I don't see anything sexual about stories with younger protagonists.

Sh*t, now I want to make a 13 year old dalish elf who was forced to leave her clan in order to better the lives of elves all over the world.

EDIT:When I think about it, that wouldn't work.Everyone treats you as an adult in DA:I, it would be weird if I played a 13 year old child lol.

Its just that nobody has yet to explain why younger girl Inquisitors (Under 18) is something they enjoy. Again, if you are under 18 then it makes sense, but if you're an adult, then it is weird. The only responses I have gotten is "well its their game...."

Kinda makes me wonder about this community if people think it is okay to show interest in adolescent females if you're an adult male because hey.....everyone has their preferences right?

Are you seriously insinuating that every person is creating every one of their characters using their own sexual preferences as that basis?  You really think that everyone is sexually interested in their characters?  That's saying way more about you than anyone else, despite your ham-fisted attempts at trying to call people pedophiles.

Personal tastes and stuff I guess

But lack of not-conventionally attractive Levallans is upsetting. Every time I look for Solavellan fan art and fan fics I feel like it's some fairy tale with the "fairest" of them all MC

There's been literally 1 person in this entire thread who says they make younger characters (and even then, it has nothing to do with sex or attraction), so I don't know where you get the idea that a lot of people are doing it. I also don't know why you're assuming that everyone involved is an adult male. Or an adult at all. Or a male at all. Or a heterosexual male at that.

Quite literally nobody in this thread has endorsed or condoned pedophilia, so you can stop trying to paint people who play as "young" (even though you have no way of knowing how old the PC is supposed to be) characters as pedophiles.

Sounds like it could interesting to RP a main character who is considered a child, but is given this huge power and responsibility. Maybe not like prepubescent or a 13-year-old, but maybe 16-18. Old enough to be able to grasp what's going on around them, but young enough to be naive and inexperienced at the politics and fighting they have to do.

Because why else would you, an assumed adult heterosexual male, ever want to look play as a woman is not to lust after her and undress her with your eyes?

As we all know, it's scientifically impossible for a man to have any other interest in a woman whatsoever other than sexually. I would know, I've seen Tumblr and Jezebel polls.

Damn, now beeing female and sometimes playing as male will never be the same again. All this scary supposed-to-be-there-somewhere-nakedness. Sca-ry! ;)

(to Chari) Amongst my Lavellans, I've made one with the slider choice that allows the teeth to show and who I think looks adorable with or without that facial trait.

I think people do make characters like that but refraine from posting pictures or art of them online because of how some people react and they can do without said reactions. They care for their character and its design but less about the comments others might make.

I tend to create my female characters with attractiveness in mind, but not out of any sexual attraction.  To be honest, I probably wouldn't make female characters at all if I didn't want to romance Blackwall.  It just so happens that the smooth, clear complexions (which apparently equate to adolescence somehow) fit the aesthetic that I'm aiming for more than other options  Because of that, it is very much impossible for me to answer why I make my female elves look like 13 year olds, because that's simply not my motivation when doing it and because  my elves have always looked like adults to me.

You make an assumption and then you ask people to defend it, that's just idiocy.

You can play as 4 races with the character creator, all are patently adult individuals.

Elves, a fantasy world race have racially slender features. That's it.

They even have tattoos to signify their adult status.

The character creator creates adult elves.

What's the next thread?
That female Qunari looks a bit like a ram in a bad light so this is an invitation to role play bestiality?

I think I'm right that the Walking Dead game has a child protagonist in the second series?
That must make people who play that pedophiles?

And frankly your insinuations are out of order.

None of the Dalish characters I have kept are in my opinion classically beautiful to human standards.  At all actually.  Nor are they the "traditional" high fantasy elf beauty either.  I purposely kept makeup to a minimum (vallaslin aside).  Many people think of elves as "impish" which, to some I suppose would appear childlike.  As as a woman, I can tell you that makeup is often used to make a girl look older, more mature.  Makeup is the modern magic after all.   Many Dalish probably didn't see much of that sort of thing outside magic, berry, flower and root dyes so, less makeup would therefore look younger, esp to men who don't use makeup much.  :)

I don't always make my male/female humans look classically gorgeous either. I create too many for that to remain amusing :)  I DO try to create them as a character, and have their overall "look" animate tolerably within the limits of the game. Sometimes that character IS gorgeous, but certainly not always.  To me, it is about playing a character, not me solely playing what I would love to look like (or look at) as a particular race.   I can certainly understand people who DO that though, far better than I can understand people who only understand those who play games exactly as they do at any rate.

... part of me wonders how much of this was just looking for pictures from people wanting to show off their youthful attractive elves...

OP had me facepalming so hard.  do you SERIOUSLY think that everyone who makes younger looking characters do so so that they can perv on their own characters?  seriously?  there is something wrong with you if you think that.

of course, OP, if you want a confession, then here you go: i save screenshots of my characters and keep the pictures close to my bedside for some "fun times".  i also like to use them as background pictures on my phone so i can gaze longingly at them no matter where i am.

People role play as Qunari, Dwarves, member of the opposite sex because they have a planned back stories for that particular Playthrough. But if they play as someone young it must be because they want to romance their PC or something. Is this what the OP is trying to say. If so the entire premise of the thread is wrong.

It's a little weird that OP spends so much time thinking about people having underage PCs, especially when it's been pointed out multiple times that any elf made is of age, due to the Valesian. Why are you so obsessed with other people playing as (in your mind) little kids OP?

I see my Elf-quisitor at around 19.

Hawke started out as 18, and my DAO character, 17.

Point being none of my characters are above 20. Because, well, I myself am young and was young when I started playing? I was around 13 when I started playing DAO on the XBOX 360, and I am currently 18 turning 19. So, yeah. Usually try to go for characters that are a few years ahead of me.

Still kind of shocking that I'm now my Hawke's age when she first ran out of Lothering, jfc.

And there is no problem with that. In fact, that was what I was asking for in the beginning! If a 42 year old male wants to RP as a 13  year old female duing the impossible and saving the lands, then that is fine. I am just wanting to know if there is some sort of motive (such as the rp perspective that you point out) that would drive an adult male to make their characters look adolescent because it is a bit weird, which is why I ask if there is a particular reason. Instead most people said stuff like "Its their game...." Yeah, I know that, but because it is unnatural, I just assume that there has to be a motive.

Take me for example, I enjoy creating female characters moreso than males but yet I am a male. I like to RP women in strong ways and with much authority, which is why most of my evil/renegade playthroughs in DA, Mass Effect and KOTOR have all been with female characters. With DAI I made my male human have feminine features such as shiny lips and eyeliner. He was straight but I wanted to RP a character who is comfortable with his sexuality enough to look "pretty" and still be 100% straight. However in real life I would never put lip gloss or eyeliner on, but I did in the game.

This is the only question I am asking, what are some reasons why an adult male would create adolescent looking female characters. Are they trying to RP a young female lad saving the world? Are they recreating their daughter/sister/relative who is of similar age? And so on.

I am not trying to call anyone a pervert for doing so, but because it is a bit not normal, I wanted to understand if there were any motives behind it besides the scary thought of an adult male finding adolescent women attractive.

If I came off as accusatory then I am sorry as that was not my intentions.

Some people on this board take video games and themselves too damn seriously. It's really just sad.

I mean why do you care? It's not your game/playthrough. Get over yourself and play your game your way and stfu. Let others play them the way they want and mind your own playthrough.

god damn.

To not bust your backstory, but Hawke starts out in Lothering as 21, while the twins are 18 years old.

Your judgmental attitude, reflected in the way you phrase your posts and the words you use, betray a deep assumption of perversion, rather than your supposedly stated motive.

Simply, elves in Dragon Age generally look young by human standards. Clear skin, slim-hipped bodies, petite frames and delicate-looking bone structure. It's very difficult to create a female elf that doesn't look like she's under twenty years of age, and that's a trope of the race. That's just how they are in Dragon Age.

If you want to play a female elf, that's generally what you play.

There's also a cultural thing going on which you can see just by watching TV and viewing TV commercials and seeing movies. How many old women do you see, when the movie isn't specifically directed to an over 50 audience?

When you figure it out, you can come back and apologize for the general tone of your discussion and your deeply disturbing assumptions about gaming, sexual orientation, and age.

I think the better question is why this is so important to you. And I say this as as guy who only ever plays as male PCs (except in WoW, I have a handful of female characters there).

I am not trying to call anyone a pervert for doing so, but because it is a bit not normal, I wanted to understand if there were any motives behind it besides the scary thought of an adult male finding adolescent women attractive.

Good thing you dictate what is and isn't normal. When your default state is "they're doing it because they get off on seeing young girls", you officially forfeit your right to judge or question another person based on the gender of character they decide to play as.

If I came off as accusatory then I am sorry as that was not my intentions.

You may as well have started with "I'm not a racist, but....."

It doesn't matter what people play. You're reading more into it than you should. I created an Orc Female in Skyrim for my first playthrough. This does not mean I am sexually attracted to large tusks.

Though I love this thread and all the paedo memes that it brought out.

You guys are some epik memers.
