I imagine my most recent warrior elf to be in her mid-30's:

 

 

Part of the problem is that the facial presents are either baby face or long, angled face. Neither of which give the impression of age.

 

That being said, I've tried middle-aged elves (still working on it):

 

But my canon playthough IS a conventionally attractive elf. She's meant to capture the immortality and classic, ageless beauty that I associate with elves. Why? It's called preference. I prefer the elven lore of D&D and Tokien, though I tried to make her look like Skyrim's long lost Snow Elves. That being said, I don't think she looks like a 13 year old girl:

 

In my head-canon, she's at least college age even if others believe otherwise. She boned Cullen, so certainly hope so. It's just preference anyway, and people don't need to justify how their characters look.

 

BTW: People have very different views on what 20, or 30, or even 40 look like. There are some 40 year olds who have a youthful appearance because of divine genetics.

Have you looked at the preset heads recently?

 

I'm not going to say whether they look 13 or not, but they do look like someone picked one of the presets and then just changed the "easy stuff" (hair, eye color, tatoos). Especially that top one.

 

My experience is that it's next to impossible to make an 'old' looking character. I've tried. What I ended up with fell squarely in the uncanny valley. As has every other attempt to do more than just play with the few settings I mentioned above.

 

A million million possibilities and most of the characters still look like they could be siblings.

It's been hard to get elves not to look like children since Origins. Well, in DA2 they looked like aliens but that's another story.

Is that the standard now? If someone doesn't like the way another person (real or fictional) looks, compare them to Michael Jackson?

If you mean mine(since my post is above yours). No. I used the sliders as well. The presets are all fugly imo and take much more than eye color and hair changes to look nice. *shrug*

 

Overall, I think the IQ is supposed to be young anyway 20 to 40. I believe.

However, it just seems like people always go with the furthest left option under the complexion tab in CC which normally results in the most "youthful" looks. I like to dab further into the complexion options to create more "mature" looking women that are in their mid-30s at minimal. Hell, for my next character a female mage elf, I will give her a bit of an aging appearance to make her look like she is at least in her 40s.

There's multi-billion dollar industries at work 24/7 for decades by now, pushing hard the idea that beautiful = flawless and smooth, to the point you'd be hard pressed to find *any* picture in these mags that hasn't been photoshoped to all hell and beyond to remove any sort of possible irregularity from them... and you wonder how comes people seem to prefer this sort of complexion for their characters? Really?

It's the modded outfit. I think it's a white silk fabric with the silver fabric and pink flowers over it to cover the boobs. I admit I was confused by it when I first saw it. lol!

I'm a 44 year old woman, and while I don't intend to play a 44 year old looking character, she also doesn't look 13, nor does she have the 1st complexion. She has a few facial freckles, and you can see veins in her cheeks.

To not bust your backstory, but Hawke starts out in Lothering as 21, while the twins are 18 years old. 

 

Not like I knew it (or paid enough attention to it) back then.

Gonna have to go with the character creator really fighting you on making mature looking elves.

My first attempt resulted in someone who did at least look 28ish. Unfortunately she also very much resembled a possum.

Pre-set 3 is responsible for most of the really young looking elves, I think. Round face, big round eyes.

And it has relatively nice hair and tattoo and no weird green lipstick, so that probably helps it be one of the more popular options for people.

I'd also say that the early cutscenes seem to woobify pretty much every character - they're all wide eyed and staring and vulnerable - and that's where a lot of screenshots are taken.

I do not know the age of most of you guys so if you are 11-16 then perhaps you may find that stuff attractive, but by looking at threads and people posting their female elfs, the vast majority of them look....adolescent.
