Maybe its like the Scourge in Warcraft. Without the Lich King they will go insane and go on a killing rampage. There must always be a Lich King, There must always be a Archdemon to keep the Darkspawn in check. So they need A good Archdemon if that's even possible.

Or, seeing as the Architect made the Darkspawn sapient by freeing them of their compulsion to the Old Gods, they might all acquire sapience.

I doubt that the Architect and Corypheus had anything to do with the Red Lyrium surfacing. Spreading it to a certain extent, probably, but judging from the info in Emprise du Lion, Imshael was the

...

Now, what he then did with it, that's the mystery. When did Imshael come into play? How much time passed between The Masked Empire and Inquisition? A year? That would be enough time to figure out Red Lyrium and how to spread it. We just don't know how. And we also don't know whether Cory knows everything about it. Though he might be able to sense the taint in it.

I didn't even realize that he had a role in all that. I took him for the occasional demon who tried his luck, failed and died.

Did I miss something relevant? I never listened to him; took the first option to stop his idle talk and attacked.

Imshael had been "gardening" people. Both Imshael himself and the Templar dying beside the Keep flagpole sort of imply that.

I also find it stupid the grey wardens haven't yet tried to do something like this, clearly Avernus was not shy about experiments with the tainted blood. So clearly if the grey wardens haven't bothered to try this then clearly they are not as altruistic as they make out to be and perhaps an end to the order is needed.

Seconded.
Which is why I let the Architect live.
At least he's trying to find an answer. And he's not even a Warden, he's their sworn enemy, a darkspawn, a creature of evil and such...

Who knows if his experiments may one day help mankind take one more step toward the cure. We never know.

Considering that the Dwarven empire once covered Thedas (the underground parts at least) and had hundreds of Thaigs and dozens of cities and they not only failed at eradicating the darkspawn they were pushed to the very brink of extinction.I seriously doubt any one nation and this includes the Qunari have the numbers, skill or magical aptitude to put a dent in thier numbers.
