WTF is up with the Giants in Call Me Imshael!? (Minor spoilers)

But seriously though, is there some issue with respawns on this quest? I kept jogging back to the bone tower camp to refill on potions and the part where you hit the second giant Kept. ****ing. Respawning. I only got by it by kiting the Giants back, indulging in a DPS race and then pushing forward with injuries and empty potion slots galore. The boss was a complete cakewalk compared to his 'minions'. Is this supposed to be how the quest works?

LoL you sound mad from being stun-locked
. I understand. Just try to kite them if you can. Or have blackwall tank.

Oh, I did it. Suliden belongs to the Inquisition now. For all the Giants absurdly overpowered attacks, the AI can't handle obstacles so once I figured out where to kite them to, it became a straight DPS attrition. But I lost count of the number of Bee Jars I went through not to mention poor Cass getting her face smashed about 20 timesLoL you sound mad from being stun-locked

My main question was really what the hell the devs thought they were doing on that quest - I knew there was one, but when I encountered the second I was less than pleased, and on the third and fourth I felt like I was getting trolled. The difficulty spike didn't feel intentional.

LoL how did you think my reaver felt on solo NM? I let the templars take away as much of the HP of the first one, the other two was RoP plus kiting and some dragon-rage here and there.

I'm pretty sure there are only 1 or 2, but at least one of them respawns if you leave the area. Some other mobs respawn, too. I had cleared everything up to Imshael, but decided to save him for later. When I came back, had to fight a giant and a bunch of other small packs again.

There are defo more than 2. First time I cleared it on my Templar I fought 2 on the way in, then had to fight 2 in doors in the section before finally getting the area where you fight that group of like 6 enemies before facing off against the demon.

Are you talking about giants or behemoths? I'll have to reload a save but I'm pretty sure I've never seen more than 2 giants in a single run.

I suspect he means Giants, I only saw one Behemoth and tbh they're no harder than other Templar troops so long as you handle them right. You're not going to confuse it with a Giant. Are you talking about giants or behemoths? I'll have to reload a save but I'm pretty sure I've never seen more than 2 giants in a single run.
As for the giant respawning, yeah, that will likely be it. It wouldn't have been such a problem had the devs put some decent potion supplies around the keep... Or hell, even warned you that they respawn. The dev who came up with that whole quest needs to seriously think about how to balance a quest... The boss of an area should never be a cakewalk compared to some minions. It wasn't fun at all, just frustrating. I wouldn't have even bothered if it hadn't been for those sweet sweet staff/grip schematics at the merchant post-capture

Yeah this confuses me too. First they say there's only one, it is written there...
Then they actually place two? Unless they reproduce through asexual reproduction, this is really kinda annoying.
Mainly because on my first playthrough, I had to run back for potions, and one of them respawned ![]()

If I remember correctly, my last run through had a giant and a behemoth go at it. It took like five minutes to end, but it was pretty entertaining.
The other red templar enemies just die, unless it's those damn shadows.

It would be very saddening if enemies did not respawn, you could go in and kill a few at a time, backtrack (or fast travel) and continue until you whittled them down to the boss area. Being able to fast travel from almost anywhere made the potion limitation seem rather harmless.

First, LOVE the Dog Soldiers reference. Second, i wonder if this is something they changed in patch 3, i remember doing this quest before the patch on nightmare and having to fast travel back to tower of bone to restock potions and never had any respawns, that or i got bugged. Also i only counted 2 giants and no behemoths when i did it so maybe its random what you fight?

Ok, I just did two full runs, start to Imshael without going back to camp, and both times there were only two giants. Gotta be a respawning issue.

Just how many Giants are there supposed to be in this ****ing ridiculous quest? I counted no less than 4! There was only supposed to be one... THERE WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE ONE! (Respect to those who get the movie reference)

Lol, I was angry at it first, but eventually in the fort there are 2 in total, so everytime you fight one once you finish go back to camp and return, thats what I did anyway

Ding Ding, we have a winner, ladies and gentlemen! I so need that film on blu ray.

To be honest, I'm not convinced that 2nd giant should have been there at all. The notes you pick up mention they'd only been successful with one, and the first one you fight was pretty obviously intended to be fought in the area it's encountered. You even see it from quite a way off so you get a chance to prepare.
The second one turns up in a very tight area in front of the cellar entrance, and somehow manages to only appear when you engage the Reds. I honestly don't know how it does it - it's nowhere to be seen beforehand and the area is very small for something that big to remain hidden, and it's this one that keeps respawning. Furthermore, the archways just down from where it appears break its AI, it constantly goes from entryway to entryway and stops attacking beyond them. Something tells me that there was no intended giant encounter here.
As for the behemoths, I only encountered one and that was in the central area with horrors, just before I opened the door to the upper level with the boss. That was a decent opponent but after fighting Giants, I barely batted an eyelid. Same goes for Imshael.

The second one can actually be avoided by kiting around the wall, there is another entrance to the temple further down which avoids that encounter entirely...

Unless I'm thinking about different place, I didn't get any problems with those giants. Because every time I got close to them, they shot up in the sky, fell down and died from fall damage. That was before Patch 2, though.

I want to say there was more then two but I have only done the quest once. And as I recall I had to travel back to camp after each one as well to restock on potions... stupid potion limit. Who's great idea was that?

To be honest, I don't mind the potion limit. But like a lot of other things in this game, it doesn't work with a situation where the game basically forces you to break it by jogging back for more.

Im with OP.. If you actually read the notes throughout that stronghold, they specifically state only 1 Giant survived.. But i encountered 3 alive, and saw 2 or 3 corpses...

There are only a couple groups of red templars that you actually need to fight to capture Suledin. The group right in front of Imshael's door is mandatory, as is the group guarding the metal bar gate - their respective doors will not open until they're wiped.
None of the giants are mandatory.
If you use an all-rogue party or solo the keep as a rogue, you can sneak past the giants and wipe out the two required groups of templars, leaving you with plenty of potions for Imshael even without using the cache.

Which quest is that and where? I don't recall on any of my plays that I encountered that many.

Second giant can be 100% avoided by staying far away, first giant I stealth past (if you hug the wall, you won't get popped by Perceptive).

Good points, though the hilarious thing is I didn't need any potions to handle Imshael. Compared to the Giants and their Templar homies, he was a pushover.

Yeah, big groups are way harder than any boss battle.Good points, though the hilarious thing is I didn't need any potions to handle Imshael. Compared to the Giants and their Templar homies, he was a pushover.
That said, I'll have to take your word for that comparison, because I've only ever fought one of the giants (in my mage playthrough - no sneaking past it that time), and I've never fought Imshael once.
I want to fight him just to see what the combat's like, but my inquisitors tend to be... easily corrupted.

Sounds like the glitch gods have it in for you.
I've done the mission in question on every playthrough, and I've never fought more than two.
