I would say it is premature to have the next game a "war of gods" story as there are way too many blanks in the mythology. I'd say we need at least one more full game of foreshadowing to implement such a story...or an exceptionally good and detailed dlc/expansion game to make work.

All we need is this guy and DA4 will be perfect :3
Soooo, basically, Kratos jumps into the main story at one point, gives a big "F*** you!" to the PC by slaying all the gods before they can, and... has an orgy with a harem of prostitute NPCs that have huge boobs because bewbies? And of course has sex with Sylaise and Andraste, whom also have big boobs (because bewbies), before slaying them too?
Can the PC watch, at least?

No no no, i think you ARE kratos. and you go around killing gods aka dragons.
As for elvens not being gods, the same could be said about the maker. And since there has been no involvement of the maker (he abandoned us) and corph said he saw no maker, it could be a fabrication, or he is some evil god who the elven gods/dragons fought off. Who knows.
As many others said i guess won't see any of this until the later installments. But i cant wait for more reveals into this. I was 70% sure flemeth was the dread wolf and the dread wolf was andraste, but turns out nope ![]()

Won't be a DA4. Next one will be an MMO. Humans vs Elves. Something like that.

Only if the nameless one steps out of the shadows at the end and one shots Kratos and then fades to black as the nameless one stands over his body.

I seriously hope we won't go there.
But Bioware writers are great so... i'm not worried!

Personally, I'd like DA4 to be about nations and politics and fighting against mundane enemy soldiers and generals and just avoid the ancient, immortal creatures alltogether.

no...just someone have him killed already GODDAMIT! I'm sick of Kratos as it is...I'm sick of of all elven Gods...I'm sick of ****** Andraste and Maker as well...just NO!
Make DA4 back to simple fantasy RPG fighting...whatever that has nothing to do with "Gods" and everything will be perfect ![]()

Enough of the chantry/maker/gods/demons BS please. DA 4 will be a Spartacus version of Tevinter.
I second this. I would prefer this whole Solas-Gods-Elven-Stuff wrapped up either in a very distant DA-Game, or in DLCs for DAI.
All that god-mumbo-jumbo....all this "we need to get epic and epicer (that english hurt my teachers I guess ^^). I'd prefer more down-to-Earth for DA4. Less politics, more personal drama. No instituations to run. No demonic invasions, no gods or wouldbe-gods messing around with us. No "chosen-one"-hero.
Back to the roots of fantasy. A lonely protagonist, hunted by the world, relying on a few comapnions, no strongholds to upgrade, just camping on the streets, always on the run, trying to find a way out of teh mess and ultimatly of course, after a lot of build-up and odds to overcome, an epic showdown with the main villain that opposed us for so long. Armies marching, cities burning, people dying, and we in-between...

Well we know "Old Gods" are actually just Dragons ancient Tevinter used to worship.
Solas often detests the idea that Mythal was God, or about any of the Elven "Gods" are actually God-beings. Since he has more insight to the truth than any of us, it's wise to take the idea that he, Flemeth, and anyone else mentioned are actually Gods, with a grain of salt.
But you're right, we know nothing for certain.
I'm not sure if they were "just" Dragons. Regular high dragons are immune to the taint of the Darkspawn.

i wouldn't mind this just to wrap up the ancient elves but I would prefer them to explore the present/ future not time traveling though

To be honest, I've read most of the popular theories out there about Dragon Age. The problem is, most of these theories are based on very few things we know. We still don't know anything about the Old Gods, the Elven Gods, Elves in general, the Magisters, the maker..nothing. There has been 4 games and several books/comics and the lore is very vague. I'm not criticizing Bioware for it, just pointing out that you can make all kinds of these based of the little facts that we know
So to the OP. I don't see any war of the gods coming. Not only would it be pretty bad storywise, it hasn't really been implied. I just want to make it clear, when you starting putting Gods/Angels/Devils in the equation for battle it can get a bit dull in terms of scale because it's very hard to retract from it.
I much rather Dragon Age deal with it's God(s) more like how GRRM does with his Fantasy Story. The world is in a transition where Gods and Magic are nearly gone. While there is clearly knowledge about it and believe that it exist, it's very seldom one actually witnesses it.
With that said, i rather Dragon Age deal with explaining all the vague lore that has been implied. Are the Elven Gods the Old Gods, imprisoned? Golden City is their seat before they were betrayed/imprisoned? What is the taint? Why are they dead? You know, explore the lore without really putting them into the story.

I can't find a source right now, but it's been said they've planned the story up to DA5
They plan two games ahead. When DA IV goes into development, the story will be mapped out to DA VI. When DA V begins, DA VII will be planned etc.
Of course, I'm sure the story will one day reach a natural conclusion (the beginning of the next age, for example), but Dragon Age has the potential for many more games in my opinion (even though they're not moving in the direction I'd like
)

This conversation is interesting but it seems to me that either my understanding of the lore is wrong or some people are just missing the point - "Gods" as its being used in DA are simply "beings of power". Its a fasinating look at how civilizations (including ours) have looked at "Gods" in the past, the only difference is in the DA world; their beings of power were real. The revelations in the future will probably be along of lines of fighting them at some point or working with them, picking sides; etc. I still think the backbone of this series will be "Old Gods" aka - Dragons. All the mystical/spiritual Gods and everything that goes with it are simply Harry Potter magical.

My opinion is that DA4 will be focused on the Qunari invading, and we'll have the options to aid in that effort, support Tervinter expansion, or perhaps back some unknown third party (Nevarra maybe??). After that, either DA5 will be the final game and we'll have it focused on the Elven gods returning, or it will be something we can't even imagine yet and that story will be saved for DA6 or 7.
All I know is that I want to be a Grey Warden again and get myself a griffon before it all ends

You mean, exactly what happened in Kirkwall all the way up 'till Act 2?

Am I the only one who wants to play a Tevinter magister?
Here's a plot: Solas frees the elven 'gods'. The blighted gods (literally, let's say that partially because they were affected by the void --- like the Forgotten Ones and Andruil --- and partially because of the Golden City going Black somehow ties in to the mirrors behind which they sleep being corrupted) want justice/vengeance w/e.
Since they walk out of the Fade in the north of Thedas, the Imperium wants YOU for the army... which, in the fashion of backstabbing power-hungry mages everywhere... means no one is getting anything done
Enter YOU, enterprising young magister, the (wo)man with a plan. gather companions(minions) to solve the issue, save the day.
This setup could finally allow you to be an anti-hero if you wanted to. Be an *******, the biggest damn ******* of the Imperium and WIN.
Bonus points if you manage to recruit romanced Lavellan who will have a heartwarming/heart-wrenching reunion with one god in particular... before killing him or - Maker forbid if DA:I/ME3 are an example - getting him as a random Agent/Asset.
