What are the names of these two weapons I see for Two-Handed and Archers?

I've seen Reavers and Katari hold this upright axe that looks "paper-thin" when seen from a certain angle. What is that one called, and is it a good weapon?

And for Archers/Hunters, I see this huge bow that has a sort of protective guard near the handles. Sorry I don't have a picture, but it almost looks like additional cover that's placed near where the hands hold the bow. It seems like everyone has this awesome bow except me.

What is that one called?

And in relation to Earth history, I am curious if some sort of protective guard existed on bows in real life (to protect hands or bash up close?), or this only exists in the realm of fantasy, like the beautiful two-bladed daggers of the Assassins/Alchemists that might cause wrist pain if used in real life.

Looks cool regardless!

The bow you're referring to is most likely the Longbow Of The Griffon

It could also be the Elite Sniper Bow, which has a wooden shieldguard with Fereldian ornaments painted on it; much like the ones medieval archers defending besieged castles used on the battlements. It's the most beautiful bow design in the game IMO.
