But I want to farm you for xp bro.  Don't get mad.   XP > gold.  Gold = crafting materials.  You can leave the game if you are unhappy. Or you can try to boot me.

If you spam the "overhere" button at me, I will zone you.

Oh I do, I'll just screw around with pots and treasure rooms and let them do whatever, then quit the lobby after. But you need to remember RNG is a b**** and unless you already have every unique weapon you want, HoK rings, all that jazz (in which case you are in a very very small minority) Gold >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything else. Makes me wish leader could just kick people without needing 3 votes.

Just remember that not everyone feels that way.  There are still several items I would really love to have (Superb Ring of Life-Drain, sigh) but holding out hope for getting something I need from a chest just makes for a frustrating game session to me.  I'd much rather concentrate on building my Constitution / Willpower / Cunning via promotions to have a permanent impact on every game I play; once I get an item I want from a chest it will just be a nice bonus.

I know some people just want exp, but keep in mind, this is a game. Speed running like a mad man while the other 3 in your group don't basically kills any enjoyment they might get from playing. If you can't play nice with others, go play by yourself.

I do not have Caliban, the sulevin blade or a superb ring of life drain. I realize that i could buy 1000 chests in a row and still not get any of those items. Why should i stress about something i have zero control over? Instead I prefer to focus on what i can control, promotions. I still accumulate gold and buy chests in the hope of acquiring these items, it just isn't my main focus. I prefer to have fun.

If you were to join my game, odds are it would be you by yourself and me and my 2 friends kicking you. More people agree with me than you care to admit.

You and the friends you play with are probably 0.005% of the total amount of people playing DAI. The world is much bigger than your friends list ;)

And I don't get kicked. Unless I fall asleep while a lego fights RTC by themself for 15 minutes.

If leaders could kick, I'd host Perilous, and boot everyone just as the boss died. Look BSN, I solo'd Perilous!

I'm going to have to agree with those who say to leave the pots in, because if they were taking out, everyone would be speed-running. Arcane Warriors and Alchemists would charge in\to every mob on their own without even thinking about the group. I could foresee even more selfish playing and a feeling of zero teamwork.

The pots and treasure rooms do slow things down and makes the team members more aware of each other.

You'll be surprised as to how quick a properly stacked legionnaire can take down RTC or any boss. Even on Perilous.

I can't really say that I agree. While you do get a lot of gold for completing perilous runs, I am pretty sure you get more if you loot pots and clear rooms effectively. You dont have to if you dont want to of course, but in PUG's, unless you have joined a group of people who dont want to - even if you dont regularly open doors yourself, you open them because the rest of your team wants to. Thats the price you have to pay for running with people.

Promotions are useful, but its a boring grind really. And how many do you really need before you can steamroll perilous? And then what?

Lol wut - so everyone who automatically avoide pots are speed runners? Do you even understand what speed running is? People tend to avoide backtracking to get a pot and will instead proceed with the next area/battle. But almost every pug I have played with will try and open treasure rooms

You are exactly what is wrong with pots for people that actually want the gold, we have to pick it up while you just run ahead and you still get the benefits while making no efforts whatsoever, I'd rather be killing mobs too instead of getting the gold for every assholes. ._.

Considering whether it's worth to kill that Wraith or go 2 miles back to break the pot, I'm happy with killing the wraith! :)
Gold is so overrated! :D
But I should've added that IF I'm in a PuG I would break the pot or two near me and collect it, no issues with that.
Solo I don't give a damn even if I'm walking past it, unless pots-commanders are giving 1 unique per pot break, I'm happy with killing stuff. :D

Also, I don't run ahead in a PuG! What makes you think I run ahead? I haven't played more than 4-5 PuG with my AW, I'm generally Kataring it out or keeping the barriers in place! :D

You can't possibly be suggesting that he misunderstood anything. I have it on good authority that would make you a troll. smiley_innocent.gif

This one was not properly stacked. I woke up a few hours, not even sure if he finished it or not.

IF you like to play threatening and get every single pot and open every treasure room it will probably take you 15-20 mins to clear the dungeon and you will make on average ~1000 gold.

IF you like to play threatening and you run through the dungeon as fast as you can only stopping for free treasure or easy accessible pots you will probably clear the dungeon in 10-15 mins, 5 mins faster than getting all the treasure rooms and pots, but you will only make ~500 gold.

How do you think you are better spent spending 1 hour playing this multiplayer? Getting every treasure room/pot with 3-4 clears in an hour and 3-4k in gold?  Or 4-6 clears in an hour with 2-3k in gold?  How long do you need to get trolled by the RNG store to realize that the real value in your hour of game play is the xp and not the gold?

IF you are brand new to the game then by all means gather as much gold as you can.  The chests are more valuable at the beginning and become less so once you acquire the better gear b/c with this store, your chances of getting a useful item decreases with each additional useful item that you acquire.  You will quickly hit the point where all you get from the chests are crafting materials.

Well I play a few games until I get bored, not trying to maximize gold or exp or anything like that. It's a video game not a video job.

What's more fun? Killing enemies? or attacking pots?

I agree with you that I play for fun.  I find combat in this game to be fun so I want to maximize my time in combat to increase my fun.  To do this, I skip treasure rooms and pots.

And to get back on topic, I agree with OP.  I wish Bioware would take the gold equivalent from the pots and give them towards the zone objectives.

Well I do like smashing pots with Immolate.

But hey not knocking how you want to play, to each their own. Just don't force 3 others to speed run if they want to open doors. If you have a friend or 2 it's obviously a different story. I would think most people play like I do and just go with the flow of what the group does. Unless I am feeling very lazy, I'll try to keep up with the person running ahead just so I can wreck their score and make him wish they hadn't forced my hand!

But I will agree, if pots didn't exist and we just got a boost to our gold from events, I think we'd all be better off.

Yep. I get that DAMP wanted to do some things different, but to make me choose  between getting gold and having fun is a bad thing, and it means problems if 2 people choose to attack mobs and the other 2 think it's the best time to open up a Revenant box.

The problem is magnified with PUGs where some people are speeding around and others are more leisurely.

I don't think the pots add a lot to my enjoyment and, frankly, they do slow things down for fairly nominal gains. I'd really rather see the pot money rolled into the guardian chests since the rewards in that often seem out of line with the risk one takes to gain it.

I play about as many games as you do, so as penance, I will stand in front of the mirror calling myself "casual" until I learn.

A few days ago I had a pug spamming "Over here" right when I was near the exit, thinking that I might have missed a treasure room I backtracked to were he was only to find that he wanted me to break a pot he was standing next to. He was playing a keeper and got a buggy pot which he could not open...Yeah that was a waste of time.

The pots wouldnt be such a problem if they were only placed near the exit of each room, werent so buggy and our characters moved faster than a snail
