This seems to be much like an improved Knockdown effect, but 2% seems terribly on the low side. It may be more cost effective to Craft your own later.

I already have a better bow, so I wasn't going to buy it. I'm just wondering if the bow's special ability even has any effect, or if it's like the "Focus" bonuses in multiplayer, where it doesn't do anything but they forgot to fix/remove it.

Logically, I would conclude that every 2% of the hits, you would do additional damage equal to the shield bash ability's damage. (and increased to guard) and knocking the enemy over.

 

But that's just my opinion, no need to go spreading it around or anything.

By being l33t. Real archers fire shields. Pretenders fire arrows.

Indeed, someone else tested it. While masterwork affects such as "chain lightning on hit" have a reduced damage coefficient (50% or so), "shield bash on hit" does full 300% damage, which is why the proc chance is lower than the rest.

 

That said, there are better options for masterwork effects.

I just read up on that in the mechanics thread, and yep, it appears that I can shield bash with a bow and arrow.

 

That is one funky bow.
