I agree my Inquisitor did this for that reason it's the same in ME as Shepard when doing the sidequests. It earns you respect from the people in the game world just as it would if you did these things in real life for people if you truly wi9sh to accomplish a goal what better way than to earn their respect and support. In my opinion that's what separates the Inquisitor from the arch enemy in the game Corypheus. He was consumed by his goal and he didn't care who he had to terad on to get it done whereas my Inquisitor went out of her way to help in a lot of situations. I look forward to playing again at some point but I finished my first playthrough earlier today.Actually, such minor quests can help gauge the character of the Inquisitor, as well as alter the common scuttlebutt heard of the Inquisition. If such tasks are seen as above the Inquisition, this can change how the commoners will view them, much like Sera. Or by performing small odd tasks by helping the elderly, war refugees, the sick, and so forth, this can help show that the Inquisitor may be a leader worthy of the title.
Or perhaps clever enough to use the masses for his own agenda; not all Evil power hungry authorities are alike, after all.

I get what you're saying but finding 48 books for the library self is not going to earn a guy who closes fade rifts with his hands anymore respect... I mean, that's something literally anybody could do and be bored doing it.

So skip it, as I did; still managed to get them all over time as they were in the way, or out of place occasionally.

The Inquisitor is always a mandatory party member, and I don't think he should be.
