Yep. But we do now, and I personally don't know what to do with him really. It was easy to send him to the wardens on the first run when I knew nothing about them.

Even with the meta knowledge, I'm still going to send him to the Wardens. I think it's the most interesting option. I want to see how he's going to react when he finally sees the Wardens for what they really are. It's easy to discard the Orlesian order as crazy and blame Cory for everything. There are no excuses like that in the Anderfels.

Fenris had PTSD?

Fenris has many problems actually. One does not simply walk away sane after being treated like a living trinket.

So "sketchy older man lover". I think only the Randy Dowager Quarterly could do this story justice.

Five scarves fluttered in shock out of five.

This is delightful. YES!

I think that after revelations, if you give him a chance, he might kick this bad habit.

He is idealist because he thinks that this is the only way to do good, mainly because he hates himself and what he has done in the past, so he runs into the extremely opposite direction. He does seems like a guy who overdo things.

(I just want to put a gag on him, a pretty gag, i promise)

*hisses protectively*

Isn't he younger than the actual Blackwall?

Sheryl Chee said that he's in his mid to late forties. My 23-year old quizzy doesn't mind.

He did see what they are, didn't he? Well as much as we all saw at Adamant

@threeF: that's perfectly justified!   Sometimes there are just characters you don't like (or actors, or people, or whathaveyou). I don't think you necessarily always have to have a reason. Since it's a personal opinion, like liking ham. I am suddenly wanting to watch the scene in Pulp Fiction between John Travolta & Samuel L. Jackson. Pigs are filthy animals, I don't eat filthy animals. ... ... ...  If a pig had a better personality, would he cease to be a filthy animal?

The judgment scene -- I think Blackwall's response is a mix of jumbled emotions. He's mad at being saved, at you, for what could be compromising yourself, at him, for being the person you are compromising for, and him again for making the disastrous mistakes that lead to this in the first place. Sometimes people don't like it when you do things for them, and this was the case here.

Blackwall gives the talk early on at Skyhold, about the person you follow being very important. You are who you follow. He is trying his best to be a good person, and if he is going to follow, then he has to believe the inquisition is good also. He doesn't want to go down the path of following another corrupt person, so he gives those idealistic speeches.

I think after the judgment, when the truth is out, if he is either freed or sent to the wardens, he'll be able to move forward. Not need to cling so hard to the ideals of "goodness", and just be good.

edit: It would be fun to watch his eyes get open to the Grey Wardens. I always want the HoF to come take him to Soldier's Peak, and hear the history with Avernus.

I pardoned most all criminals that were presented to me. Thom Rainier is no exception. My Inquisition is a forgiving one... as long as the perp makes up for their crime and does something for the Inquisition as restitution.  Thom is always welcome because he has sword skills and because I consider him a friend after spending so much platonic time with him...

Cullen is my man. Every time... so far. Maybe on my next playthru I'll give the Bear a hug or two.

Well that comes from him not being in control of his fate, (as I read it) which is why I bring him back, you made this personal I'm gonna deal with it because I can.  Now after 150 hrs of game time and weeks ago - I'm gonna have to go back or you tube it and make proper note on it.  I do remember feeling distinctly anxious in response to his anger, but yeah his tone after judgement is very different for atonement than any other judgements and then the making out in chains bit made me think did I do the right thing or did Bioware just f*ck this bit up?

Hm...I did it a few days ago. He didn't seem that angry once you reached the you're going to become a warden/atone/blah part. (not unless you made him keep being Blackwall lulz).

Not 100% sure, Ryz. I have Blackwall set in my mind as @45-50.

Ah okay.

Read my post again? It's easy for someone who idealizes the Wardens to just go "Nope, the rest of them are heroes. These guys were just a bunch of crazy people influenced by Coryphyspit!"

It's a good thing Vivienne already has a fainting couch up there, right? :D

But yeah, the gossip! In my case, the story would go like this: The mighty Herald of Andraste calls upon all of her shadowy connections to spring her sketchy lover out of prison, tries him herself in a pantomime of justice, lets him off scot-free and then makes out with him in front of the court. Bahahaha! I'm sorry, but I just don't take the game seriously enough to not be amused by this.

I just wish my IQ could wear a scarlet dress while seated on the throne.

LMFAO when you put it like that, it really highlights how outrageous that scene actually is. I mean, my Quizzy didn't really care about the "abuse of power" aspect because she figured she was entitled to at least one personal perk if she was saving the entire world, and she wasn't about to give up on her man after they'd been through so much together. But yeah, as much as I love it, I'd be happy on a purely roleplaying level if the entire judgement scene were given an extensive rewrite.

I'd have loved, loved, loved, a separate scene. I'm sure they did it like that for budget reasons.

Still, my girl is a rogue at heart (and a rogue by skill, too), and really didn't care. She probably would've picked the locks on the chains as they were kissing. The chains could've fallen away in a dramatic *clank* as their kiss ended!

I agree, Cred. I can think of at least a dozen ways that the scene could have been handled differently, making it less campy, more nuanced. This is a pivotal moment in his arc, and it could withstand a more detailed, subtle treatment. As it is though, purely as a piece of entertainment, I think it succeeds.

Blackwall's romance sometimes makes me mad, but it never bores me, which I cannot say for any other romance in the game.

I think that after revelations, if you give him a chance, he might kick this bad habit.

If people refuse to believe that one involved in a crime can repent and change, then there is little incentive in striving for redemption. It's obvious that Rainiers character failing is that he cannot look to redeem himself alone, because of guilt, fear, disgust or for whatever reason.

So he sees an opportunity to change that. Initially it was Blackwall, when that didn't go as planned he tried to honour what he thought the wardens stood for and again he f*cks up, majorly. The inquisition finally gives him the incentive that he himself couldn't muster either as himself or as Blackwall.

Now the gag bit... :o

Dear lord, I'm glad you people don't write the laws we all have to follow. "I'm real sorry and I gave all the money to the poor, so I hope you all forgive me for robbing that bank and killing four people. Plus you're a terrible person."

You can forgive a person for a lot if he's the best tank you've got and there's, like, four more dragons left to kill.

It's ridiculous to come at the subject from the standpoint of modern morality or law. This is a world where might makes right.
