Blackwall did no such thing.
The Inquisitor sought him out while he was taking care of business.
You seem to be jumping through hoops to avoid the fact that the Blackwall saved the Inquisitor's life.
The Inquisitor's life would not have needed saving from that arrow if Rainier had owned up to what he did years ago and lived a lie since. Because if he did, in that timeline there would have been no "Find Blackwall" mission and no people there thus no arrow fired.
"You don't like helping people!"
"Cole, I'm sorry I forgot to do the sidequests before Halamshiral..."
"I said you don't like helping people!"
"Come on Cole,! Let's go to Emprise right..."
"Forget..."
To be fair, they came to kill Blackwall. He leaves out that detail, but a note one of them drops says otherwise. Can't really blame him for that, though.
You damned monster.
(Seriously how do you even get this? I got random approval from Cole just from helping people in the Hinterlands when he wasn't even in my party).

Why would you do that?
Why?

Don't do his personal quest. Do no sidequest, let Celene and Briala die. It was a speed run. First runs always are.
Lmao. I could be here all night, but I won't.
Why would you do that?
Why?
I was bored and didn't feel like DA:I or CK2
check the Dorian thread for a gem

Insanity.
I liked the Blackwall character....
My Warden Commander Cousland recruited the likes of Velanna, Oghren and Nathan Howe... yes, that's HOWE!!!!!!
The dregs of societly have always been welcome in the Wardens.... even a haven....
Once my Warden Commander Cousland finds a cure for the calling and reunites with Morrigan and Kieran... he will make Blackwall undergo the Joining...
Maker watch over him... the beard alone will probably save him.
Beards only save Dwarfs.
*snip*
Oh man why'd I read it.
Wut.
It's like they totally heard nothing but the womp womp sound when Dorian spoke.

That was among the least ridiculous things I saw in there
Mos Eisely has nothing on the darkest depths of tumblr

and 4Chan but we all knew that

Blasphemer... Duncan's beard still walks among us.
Did I just see a Blade Runner meme?
Deploying Vangelis!

Hey! The darkest depths of BSN aren't actually that bad.
Yeah, it's the surface that sucks.
That's sad.

honestly sometimes the line between the depths of tumblr and 4Chan mixes quite well, we get right wingers (trolls) and SJWs here as well

I guess I'm too used to avoiding most of the bad threads ![]()

Nothing happened to people. It's just that scenes like that are cheesy. That's why some hate them, some love them and some like me laugh at them. And I'm pretty sure it's always been like that.
Edit: Not sure if I'd count When Harry met Sally. They're in public, but people aren't paying attention to them.
I understand that there might be cultural differences and personal taste, and that artistically speaking the scene could have been done better, I was talking about the extreme reactions and the general hysteria, people talking about 'big scandal' and so on.
This was a tough one for me, being in the military for 22 years and understanding loyalty and also telling senior officers to get screwed and standing on the carpet as a result because I did not agree with their orders, I won btw, twice when I made those choices.
So we come to a game and something I never thought I would have trouble with, judging some pixels. The story while full of loopholes is very good and made me think...for a very long time, and as of this typing I am leaning toward giving him to the grey wardens after this is over.
I have read every single post in this thread. I find fault with many people that have not faced tough life or death choices and yet throw around judgment (due to a story albeit) like it was an easy "Moral" thing to do.
To these folks I put you in this hypothetical real life situation: You have a very good friend, a friend that has actually saved your life and provided some very good advice, the kind of friend you do not get rid of when you dump other hangers on during your yearly culling of other friends. You have known this friend for years, then one day, the police arrive and arrest them. You find out later they are from another country and had killed some people due to "orders" or given orders and payment to take out another group in power...all political, all for gain.
Sounds like the game, but now its you. Take your absolute best friend in real life, the one you cannot live without and look at them, how would you pass judgment once you found out? Now the great majority here have to go out on a limb because as I stated earlier, many of you haven't faced anything like this in real life or even close. Now transpose this to the game and make the judgment with the choices given.
There is right and wrong, there is truth and there is lying, but to what degree? You have your dear friend that is, in your eyes and by many years of actions a full blown hero. Where/when does the statute of hate and tears end for the people, friends, family of those he had killed? Where does redemption start and is redemption even a word to be used in this situation? How do you cope with knowing your best friend your life partner, nearly equal to your husband or wife in trust.
Do you simply throw them away? In court do you tell of the person they have been for the years they have been your friend? Do you even care and simply move on?
Because of my background I think I will give him to the wardens after this is over. He wants to be judged so he will be, by his peers, eventually, but since the character has been with me he has done nothing but "good" and will be allowed to do so with no restrictions.
What's really strange to me is that those companions who are angry with Blackwall blame him not for his crime but for his lies first. I mean, the guy is responsible for murdering a bunch of innocent people, but everyone's first reaction is "Oh no you lied to us how could you!". Isn't him being a murderer far worse than being a liar? There is also Cullen who blames him for what he had done to his men, but does anyone ever bring up the matter of slaughtered children?
That's because Cullen has a military mind, he kills people every day and knows that accepting a contract in the Grand Game is nothing but ordinary administration. He knows what kind of sly bastards Orlesian nobles are, to him what happened with the Callier affair is simply that Rainier was lied about his target and **** happened. What he despised is only Rainier's betrayal of his men, that in the military world is seen as something despicable.
About the fact that the companions are more concerned about his lie about his identity, I think that it's because of the same reasons, Rainier betrayed the trust of his comrades in arms. Our companions and advisors are all men and women who have seen war, death doesn't bother them, what bothers them, and Cassandra in primis, is that people lie.
That's also the reason why I believe that letting Blackwall rot in prison and let him be executed is wrong, I see it as a betrayal to a comrade in arms, someone who is fighting by your side and is doing everything he can to help your cause, Treaties included because they are REAL and helped the Inquisition.

Thank you, just... thank you :°)

amazing that you can tell people's lives from behind a computer screen.
Do enlighten me more.
Why why can people not make arguments without dragging the "hurr durr you don't have life experience with this so that's clearly why your opinion is wrong."
As for your analogy. He killed kids yes, ran away let others take the fall and then proceeded to lie to you for most of your relationship. You act like dumping someone like that is a hardship. It really isn't. Particularly because the Inquisitor only knows Blackwall for months. This isn't a years long relationship with your BFF. So fail analogy is fail.
amazing that you can tell people's lives from behind a computer screen.
That's because we have been that age too and had the same attitude. There' s not a way to check people's age here, it simply shines through what they write and the way they think ;D
