Absolutely.
I continue to question the value of elves, however.

I've played one or two of each race in the series. I liked the Dalish elf best... The Quinari was interesting as well.
Elves probably had more opportunity for unique dialogue. Why do you question the value?
I just don't like them, which is basically the same argument most people have against dwarves or qunari.
By staking out the opposite position with similarly shoddy justification, I hope to demonstrate how baseless the original point was.

The main problem is that they didn't support them as much as humans and elves. However, they were totally worth it. They just need comparable support now.
Since Origins dwarves have been my favorite race (DC FTW). In DA2 it would have been nice to have been a dwarf from the DMG or the carta again, but femhawk is cool so its fine. In DAI I dont play as a human and DA elves are interesting but not my cup of tea (to play as I mean). But ever since my first Femqunari play through I have never looked back, they are by far my favorite race to be nowadays (regardless of class). I hope we get a DLC that has a lot of dwarf or qunari centered content, or a bigger role and relevance in the next game.
So to actually answer your question YES TOTALLY 100% WORTH IT!!!!!
(my only real complaint is not being able to romance cullen as a femqunari grrrr)
All I have to say is that dwarves are the greatest fantasy race of all time. And nobody wears a beard the way they do. Little elflings can't even grow beards. Sure elflings have their little bows, ironbark, and their hallas. But dwarves have axes, proper forges, mine lyrium, and they have brontos. Dwarves win.
That like saying a person is not black if they act white. Seriously, that pretty narrow minded.
Nice example. But it's not just 'a black person who acts like white' it's a 'black person who acts like white AND perceived\treated as white by a society that is confirmed to have racism more as a standard than an exception'. Yes, not everyone around Thedas is a complete racist, true, but the overall Orlesian attitude towards the Elves basing on the previous games & (especially) the Masked Empire does not leave much room for interpretations. Even Shartan had been 'officially forgotten'.
It could be a little bit more neutral for the dwarves (simply because they are mostly out of the picture, even in novels), but it's thousand times worse for the Qunari.

Hell yes.
Qunari is my favourite race to play as now...
Dwarf is in second.
Pity about the elves.. they were enjoyable in Origins. I think I was turned off after seeing them in DA:2... although I liked Tallis. Maybe because she's Qunari. ![]()
Or... perhaps Sera's disdain has rubbed off on me.

*Facepalm...What? Sorry, but the last thing my female qunari was treated like was a human. Instead over time she was welcomed for who she is as an individual. And no it's not a 1000 times worse for the qunari, especial after being called an ox at the winter place.
Seriously....
At this point you can see the difference.

And I just don't like you. I am a great Elven fan and I don't care for Dwarves and Qunari, yet, I don't want them to be removed becouse there are Dwarven Fans and Qunari fans here, Idc if removing them would have made the game better, cuz again, there are fans to them like there are fancs to Elves such as me, so I don't think only about my ass, unlike you.

Sera says that Qunari women are worth it ![]()
I think they should have just made everyone an elf, and made the elf models less twiggy. The dwarves and qunari didn't seem to make much difference in the story and the qunari had a distinct lack of, well, everything, compared to the other races.
You will NEVER See an all elf game.
I suspect they're getting alot of research from the game and how its being played. The least popular race will likely not be incorporated in the next game because they simply won't waste the resources.
DAO was the first game ever that managed to actually make me interested in playing an elf. This was no small feat so as such I'd definitely file it under "worth it" in my book.I continue to question the value of elves, however.
If you're gonna leave out Qunari and Dwarves, you might as well leave out elves as well and go for a more personal story à la DA2.
I'd say you would leave out humans, because the elf playthrough feels a lot more personal than the human playthrough does.
Absolutely yes they were worth it. However, compared to the other races they contributed less to the overall plot

I think that it's going to be all or nothing. Either they decide to cut out all racial choice and just force us to play humans. Or they allow us to choose all four races. I don't see them doing anything in between.

Double facepalm. Seriously? THAT is your evidence of race treated differently in game? This dialog is EXACTLY the same for every race with one small exception - mentioning the race. That 2 words about race - yes, different. The rest is the same. And fits human much better, btw, because Solas talk about his journeys and "people" he met. I doubt most of them were qunary.
Sorry, though. Your have all the rights for a pare of rose colored glasses, like anyone else. If you find race reactivity in DAI satisfying - good for you.
I heard Bioware originally intended Loghain to abandon the army at Ostagar solely to kill Cailan since he knew of his plans to leave Anora, and that he was originally going to be possessed by the Archdemon the whole time but this was changed because of time constraints.
If these are true then hell no would the extra time focused elsewhere be a guarenteed good tradeoff, because these examples are god awful imo and i'm extremely glad they weren't implemented.
The dwarves were a nice option but I could have done without qunari. Blech.

Yes, SO totally worth it! My favorite playthrough is with my Dwarf. And I love my Qunari as well. To me the more choice/options for our characters, the more playthroughs I get from my favorite games. I love to think about what the different race/religion/background would be on my character, and figure out what drives them ETC. This is, after all a RPG ![]()
It also explained what the hell was going on with Arl Howe. Right now we have Loghain intentionally allying with the worst threat to the Feudal order in Ferelden since the invasion by Orlais. It's just an insane thing.
Well the guy did control Highever, Amaranthine, and Denerim by the time Loghain and his army got back, esentially making him the most powerful man in the country. He is also quite skilled in Intrigue, useful in the middle of a civil war. How was he to know Howe was insane? His own son didn't, Bryce Cousland didn't.
It would be nice if they released the number of inquisitors for every race. And if they are very low, I would trade a couple of playable races for more cutscenes any day.
