You're just lazy. IT DOES NOT TAKE LONG To gather resources.  Its attitude like yours which is why games have been watered and dumbed down over the years.

I have a feeling devs either cannot read or don't read anything here. If they are reading, there is a serious problem with communication. Think dialogue wheel.

"Combat is tedious and boring" is translated to "Combat is too difficult and should look more awesome, maybe faster pace?" instead of "There is too little variance in enemy types, hostile HP pools are bloated and combat difficulty comes down to spamming the same key for 10 minutes, waiting for sh..t to happen, tactics should be more complex"

"Side quests are annoying!" means "Quests are too complex, change it to acquire, fulfill objective and complete", instead of "Too much time consuming content with little to none game experience. Rebuild quest system to give more interaction with enviorment/NPCs/questgiver, additional nodes to quest (chain quests), multiple solutions that impact the surroundings in various ways if possible"

"Inventory management sucks!" is translated to "Too much complexicity, remove inventory? Add management on equipment level? Picked up items are automatically changed to gold, equipment can be only modified, not changed" instead of "Prepare inventory UI for each input device separately, add comparison tooltips explaining stat impact on damage/defense"

And so on, so on....

Sounds like you expected Origins 2 or DA 2

I was looking forward to DA:I, and expected it would be the best in the series. I rightfully suggested that people making this game hadn't lost that same sense of beauty which made DA:O the legend. In other words, I believed them blindly. Now I see this hollow Haven's tavern, and I'm sad. People there, they all feel just like sitting mannequins.

And you know I loved Origins too but its time to move on.

I liked DA2 too.

And I will like DA4.  Stop expecting every game to be the same because its NOT going to happen. Inquisition is a fun and beautiful game. Try opening your mind.

Picking flowers and mining metal for 200 hours is fun and beautiful?

EA has come a long way.  I was banned back when the Sims Online was in Beta Testing. I spoke the truth that the game was crap as did many other people and we all got banned for it. Needless to say...the game did FLOP.

Consider yourself lucky you can post.  The problem is people forget the forums count for a very small minority of users. People need to stop assuming they are speaking for EVERYBODY because they are not.

Sounds like you have a bad case of Stockholm Syndrome, or Indoctrination.

"Consider yourself lucky you can post". That line there is just disturbing. Lucky you can speak your mind about a product you paid for?

Also if someone needs to say how good something is, the person itself doubts it. Nobody who really loves someone needs to say "I love you" each 10 min. The people who say "I love you" each 10 mins are actually trying to make themselves believe it. So, let's just not break this one's fantasy, let him believe he likes the game. I just hope he handles it well when he realizes he doesn't.

While I do not like gathering resources, it does allow one to slaw the pace to listen to party banter. And while my Inq stands on the cliffs and watches the waves, horizon, etc, I enjoy taking a break and simply enjoy the scenes and music. And while some can breeze thru combat, that is the case of almost any game I have played, as they are not action titles. It takes me a while to play on Nightmare, and while I may not be swift, I appreciate the tactical aspects that this new engine allows over the past titles.

And when I find myself speeding past notes and journals, I try and take a break; learned that lesson in Skyrim and DA2. There can be more depth to see in the game, if one actually wants to look for it; not just have to sit and watch another cut-scene.

Fun is just a buzzword when you can't actually think of any real reasons as to why the game is good.

I can play that deluded game too.

I have actually completely dropped DAI. Have not touched it in many weeks. Gone back to replay GTA V... and TW2 in anticipation for the DAI-killer that is coming out on May 19.

Same here ,I haven't touch it in over two months, can't imagine ever going back to the game again. Although I went back to playing Fallout or Civilization.

At around the 500+ hour mark, with two Inquisitors @ levels 20/21 effectively (as of this week) paused before commencing 'What Pride Hath Wrought' I'm inclined to agree with the OP. I'm at the same point with DAI as I was with TES:Oblivion where, at level 40-something and still yet to begin the main quest I just gave up.

My current feeling - bearing in mind I've adapted to the KBM controls, the (inferior) UI and haven't suffered any significant glitches playing the game unlike some people - is the game's simply too big, too unfocused but also narratively too small. I reckon there's less story (Main Plot) content in DAI than there was in DA2 which was a small game compared to DAO. DAI attempts to emulate DAO but the narrative content's simply not there. It's how (some) people can apparently run through the Main Plot in under twenty hours.

My advisors are urging me to beat Corypheus to the elven ruins in WPHW but my Inquisitors have no actual impetus to go there instead of exploring any of the unmapped regions yet conversely there's no good in-game reason for them to go to Emprise du Lion or the Emeral Graves either. Origins had plot reasons for going to Redcliffe, Denerim, Brasilian Forest and Orzammar but unless I've missed something why should I bother going to EdL or the Forbidden Oasis? Does it matter if I don't free Crestwood or the Exalted Plains from the plague of undead? Not, so far, as I can tell.

ME3 used war assets and galactic readiness to affect the end result of your game and DAI certainly has the same potential (i.e. recruiting agents, claiming landmarks, setting Inquisition camps, completing requisitions, etc.) yet (again as far as I can tell) none of that makes any difference to my chances of success or failure. It doesn't (apparently) matter whether I close all the rifts or none of them; the only reason for closing any is to gain Power in order to progress through the Main Plot. ME2 'motivated' you to recruit specialists, complete their loyalty missions and upgrade the Normandy because that all had a bearing on the outcome of the Suicide Mission at the end; DAI could have the same potential but (as far as I can tell) it doesn't matter one jot whether you upgrade Skyhold or not; whether or not you recruit Sera, Vivienne or Bull or do any of the Inner Circle's personal quests. Every thing's entirely cosmetic (i.e. tarot cards changing; Skyhold upgrades, 'acquiring' requisitions) and it really feels as if none of my decisions or choices (or whether I even make any) actually matter in the long run. The game looks very pretty but I'm sorry to say at the moment it 's starting to feel very hollow. I've no doubt I'll eventually finish DAI at least once in due course but for the time being I'm going to spend my evenings reading the new Mike Moorcock novel instead.

I liked all the DA game's while my favorites run DA2, DAO and DAI.

I only have 195 hours in DAI so far but I find myself taking breaks from the game as I tend to start to slowly fall asleep while playing it, there are times when it's a pleasant game to play and other times a real snooze.

I recently went back to Mass Effect for some time off for DAI and found a mod that fixes the ending for ME3 and has given it new life for me, after ME I'll probably pop back to DAI but when May gets here my every waking moment when I'm not working will be playing Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt.

I recently purchased a game from steam Divinity Original Sin and found this to be an old school type RPG and it's quite refreshing when playing it and enjoyable.

Well if you would take 5 minutes and not let your emotions make assumptions for you, you might notice that you do nothing but bash people who are voicing concerns about the game. That isn't quite the same as speaking about the things you love in the game, is it? In general you just sink to calling people who encounter bugs and such as "lazy". As if gaming should be exhausting or something.

I don't resent the fact that people enjoy the game. Far from it. I actually liked a lot in the game myself. Gave it a 6 out of 10.

Not blindly loving a game isn't the same as hating it. There are several things in between hate and love, actually. Like, dislike, indifferent. You might look into the meaning of those words.

Yeah because picking flowers for 200 hours is an intellectual achievement. And people speaking up about the negativity of the dumbing down of games, are the reason why the games get dumbed down?

It might not be the dumbing down continues because people like, say....you, constantly defend the dumbing down and claim it is fantastic?

Just a side note: If you don't expect things being handed to you, why are you playing this game? It hands you everything on a platter. You don't even have to equip a weapon in this game. the game does it for you. Were you too lazy to notice?

I like how fan boys always go back to their nostalgia crutch answer when the truth is many of us were playing origins up until the day inquisiton was released and then some.

I haven't re installed origins because I'm waiting for amnesia to kick in so the game feel new again. Too many play throughs I was staring to be able to play it with my eyes closed.

You should try being lazy in a video game that's what they are for after all. If you want to be active try grinding in rl.

This isn't an MMO We can't shout out in ooc give me itemz and gold plz! Those guys were lazy. Not wanting to collect 5 tons of elf roots cause it's not fun isn't lazy it's smart.

Talking to the companions and the NPC's around Skyrim is great fun. Bioware nailed that bit for sure. Also just walking around in the huge areas in the game and looking about and exploring is damn cool too. Whoever designed the areas did a stunning job. Especially the Storm Coast area, I think. Its the gameplay that screws the game over.

Inquisition simply wasn't fun. I had a lot more success role-playing as Michael, Trevor, or Franklin than I did this boring Inquisitor going around fetching 30,000 herbs so he can be a Reaver. Fun, Immersion, Storytelling, Writing... they all add up to create something special and DAI is lacking in all of those areas.

As for the previous two DA games... they're alright. Lacking in the fun but good storytelling and writing. The pacing is good and they immerse you in the world and characters. Hard to get immersed in some MMO-esque quest-giver standing still and offering to "join you" if you find 7 types of plants etc.

You're just lazy. IT DOES NOT TAKE LONG To gather resources.  Its attitude like yours which is why games have been watered and dumbed down over the years.

You're definition of "dumbed down" is hilarious. Gathering resources is a thoughtless and repetitive task. Maybe it strained your intellect? Idk.
