After going it with a party and later solo, I think it's:

tempest archer

Do the manual aim trick on everything you can before Skyhold and the only challenge will be Alexius or Envy.

Flask of fire and thousand cuts everything after.

Craft Tier 3 weapons with Tier 4 mats as soon as possible.

While cheesy, you're still going to potentially take damage.  A tempest can flask of fire, thousand cuts, stealth and repeat and never get touched.

True, I think Flask of Fire + Thousand Cuts gets the blue ribbon for cheese.

Step one: energy barrage to proc flashpoint.
Step two: fire mine.
Step three: fade cloak.
Step four: fire mine.
If things are not dead hack away with lightsaber.

Did that make me sound smart? I don't even know what that is, I just know that's how people made überweapons in Mass Effect 3. :P

Yep. Steamroll everything.

I also like the lightning flask/switch to another party member trick. Usually decimates 2-3 enemies quite quickly.

It's great for burning down dragons, but focus abilities aren't available consistently enough to be the most effective cheese in the game.

I vote for crafting.  Rush straight to your tier 2 masterworks perk pre skyhold, and then jump into the Hissing Wastes immediately after getting to Skhold for your tier 3 masterworks and you're rocking god mode by level 8 or so.

Crafting aside, Artificer archer is a pretty solid candidate IMO.

Builds focus quickly, can curb stomp dragons, versatile and with the right set up, has nonexistent cooldowns.

Craft the best equipment with the best materials as soon as possible, play Knight Enchanter + Fire tree alongside Blackwall, Solas and... whoever, really.

On a less serious note, I am surprised and disappointed no one thought to mention this.

Parkour up mountains and attack everything at extreme range with the mage staff. At that distance, enemies don't even react and just stand there until they die.

Works especially well on dragons.

And mages always wonder why people fear them. No one should have this power.

That gets the cheese award so far w/o a doubt!

Wield the Wedge of Destiny, of course!

(DAI quickly becomes absurdly easy even on nightmare, so I expect you can pretty much beat it anyway you want...)

I'm guessing staffs have longer ranges than bows.

Past a certain distance even though you are manually aiming right on the guy it won't do any damage.  I haven't tested it with a staff.

I don't know how it works with a controller, but with KBM it works as soon as the enemy is close enough to show up as an enemy (a red outline) when you hover the mouse cursor over it.

The range of the staff is long enough that if your companions try to run forward to fight the dragon they'll rubberband back to you before they even get within archery range.

To play it the way Bioware intended.... Holding a controller, and mashing a single button for 100+ hrs..
