BS. Just BS. All of the responses while talking to Solas about the elves or elven history is sarcastic and offensive, even when the less offensive option says something like "what's your problem with the dalish" the character just throws "lol, wut are you, allergic to halla?" Like, wth? Can't they even be civil?

One of the first things Lavellan can say to Solas is that the Dalish are his people, too. It's not as though all the conversations with Solas are necessarily hostile.

They could give us a city elf origin. It wouldn't cost them anything, it changes literally nothing since we won't even met our dalish clan. But now, op is right - playing pro-dalish makes no sense story-wise and playing as a dalish it makes no sense for them to be anything but pro-dalish. BW decided for us what our character will be. And this is bs. I hate how all our responses to Solas are offensive at best, you can't even roleplay playing as an elf, you're pro-dalish and you know better, period.

You do realise you don't HAVE to play a completely pro-dalish elf, yes?

Nothing is stopping you playing a Dalish Elf that believes in both the Elven Gods and the Maker, nothing is stopping you from NOT being a total superior *******.

How many conversations are there where that is taken out of our mouths? Once, maybe twice? With Solas, even then, you had the option of answering rather vaguely if I remember. And Solas in generally most disapproves of the Dalish in general anyway, (and to be fair to him, he has damn good reason too), so you're kinda in a lose lose situation regardless.

(...)Nothing is stopping you playing a Dalish Elf that believes in both the Elven Gods and the Maker(...)

I admit it was a nice touch that when I tried the "yes" response to "do you believe in Maker", the actual answer was: "I believe he exists." The fact is that there is little stopping Dalish from actually accepting existance of Maker - if not all the views of the Chantry about him - seeing as elven religion (as presented) never touches on subject of creation of the world. Elgar'nan is son of the Sun, Sun and Earth seem to be to some extent sentient, but there is nothing about the world actually coming to be OR existing "always". And Dirthamen and Falon'Din are explicitly stated to explore the Fade and concepts of death...

Dalish religion could, in fact, integrate Maker easily. You could even say that it has distinct Maker-sized hole in it... I even entertain the thought that there were actually elven-andrastian factions in Dales, they just got either forcefully integrated into mainstream Maker worship (among city elves) or... fell out of favor among the Dalish and more or less died out completely somewhere along the way (it was a couple hundred years, after all).

. That's like an Italian telling a Roman that the Italians are his people too. It only flies in the face of centuries of culture and tradition

What is an Italian, anyway? That didn't exist until a hundred-fifty years ago.
